The Gentleman Owl
This is a build to represent a character from a game I played a long time ago. Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. This is made with NO DLC, and Vanilla Skyrim in mind.

Hadhod is a Dwarf possibly distantly related to the famous Gimli. Hadhod specializes in axes and hammers, has a high constitution, and has access to fire attacks and magic shields.

Here is a link to Hadhod's wiki page if anyone feels compelled to check him out http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Hadhod

I have found these skills of Hadhod's to be somewhat re-creatable in Skyrim:

“Cleaving Wound” damage over time – Fire Enchanted Axe, Lingering Damage Health Poison
“Crippling Smash” slows enemy – Poison of Slow
“Durin Wrath” paralyzes enemy – Poison of Paralysis or Paralyze Enchanted Axe
“Spirit Cleave” drains magicka – Shock or Damage Magicka or Drain Magicka Enchanted
“Damaging Shield” returns melee damage – Flame Cloak, Reflect Blows Perk
“Stone Shield” protect from damage – Alteration Flesh Spell, Atronach/Magic Resist Perks, Dragonskin
“Flaming Fury” fire damage – Destruction
“Flames of Ruin” all enemies take fire damage – Firestorm
“Dragon Calling” summons dragon – Shout Call Dragon

I have chosen to use Breton for the race, because Hadhod has an inherent magic resistance, and can activate Dragonskin as a form of "Stone Shield" to protect from damage.

Other races that can work:
Orc for the damage boost/resistance will simulate Hadhod's "Overwhelming Axes" and "Stone Shield".
Dark Elf for the inherent Fire Resist, and the starting power Flame Cloak to act as a "Damaging Shield"
Argonian for the "Stone Shield" effect of Histskin
Sadly, all of these races are beasts, and not humans, another reason I went with Breton instead.

M/H/S

At Level 46: Magicka 200 / Health 400 / Stamina / 150

160 Magicka will give enough to cast an Ebonyflesh and a Flame Cloak when your Destruction/Alteration skills are at 100, have the appropriate 50% perks, and are wearing the 15% cost reduction helmet soon to be outlined in the Enchanting section. Add a bit into Stamina to help with power attacking, and then everything else into Health - this guy has a high constitution.

I like Expert difficulty, as it is still more challenging, but in my opinion Master is just too unrealistic with damage sponging enemies.

Main Skills:

One Handed - War Axe in left hand, and Mace in right hand. Armsman 1/5 only (don't want to overpower), perks up to Savage Strike and Dual Savagery, Hack and Slash and Bone Breaker 3/3

Heavy Armor - Steel Plate armor looks most similar to what Hadhod has access to in-game. All 12 Heavy Armor perks should be taken. This will bring the AR up to about 450. Conditioning simulates his ability "Dwarven Haste" which increases his speed, and Reflect Blows (as poor as it is) simulates his "Damaging Shield" by returning damage to attackers.

Note: there is no Smithing in this build. I took my Smithing score up to 31 so I could improve my gear to Superior, then with all the Heavy Armor perks wearing Steel Plate, my AR is around 450. If you want to use Smithing, I would suggest only taking 1/5 in Juggernaut.

Destruction - Hadhod utilizes the power of fire to attack his enemies from range. 2/2 Augmented Flames (don't care for Intense Flames myself) and up to Adept. This lets Hadhod cast Flame Cloak which is his main form of "Damaging Shield." Any other fire spell can be used, such as Fireball, to simulate his "Flaming Fury" attack.

Bonus skill for Destruction supplementation: get Illusion up to 50 to take Aspect of Terror, which will make your Flame Cloak much more potent. Damage starts at 8/second, is increased to 12 with Augmented Flames, and is increased to 27/second by Aspect of Terror!

Alteration - Primarily for the Flesh spells, Atronach, and 2/3 Magic Resist. Hadhod has a strong constitution; therefore, should not take great amounts of damage from the physical or magic side. Hadhod can activate his "Stone Shield" eventually Ebonyflesh, to top his Heavy Armor up for a 550 total at the endgame.

Enchanting - 1/5 Enchanter, up to Extra Effect. In my opinion, maxing Enchanting swiftly makes the game boring and far too easy.

Perk Calculator:

http://skyrimcalculator.com/#299138

Hadhod's Equipment: (in parentheses after Extra Effect is obtained)

Feet - Greaves of Lordly Might + One Handed / (Stamina)
Chest - Battle Hardened Cuirass + Health / (Health Regen)
Hands - Gauntlets of Overwhelming Axes + One Handed / (Stamina)
Head - Dwarven Rallying Helm + Destruction / (Alteration)
Ring - Might of Balin + Health (Magic Resist)
Necklace - Enduring Pendant + Fire Resist (Magic Resist)

Weapons should be one War Axe and one Mace, I like to use Ancient Nord, Skyforge Steel, Nord Hero, Dwarven, and possibly Ebony weaponry.

Weapon Enchantments:
Absorb Health to simulate Hadhod's "Biting Blade"
Fire damage for "Cleaving Wound"
1 second Paralyze (if you do this, the game is now very easy) for "Durin Wrath"
Shock damage, Damage/Drain Magicka for "Spirit Cleave"
Absorb Stamina for "Overwhelming Axes"

Alchemy:

This skill will not be trained, will not be perked, but will be used nonetheless. Suggested poisons to create to replicate skills:
Poison of Slow: Deathbell + Salt Pile "Crippling Smash" + River Betty for damage
Poison of Paralysis: Imp Stool + Canis Root "Durin Wrath" + lingering ingredient for damage
Poison of Lingering Damage Health: Mora Tapinella / Orange Dartwing / Slaughterfish " Cleaving Wound"

With an Alchemy skill of 15 and unperked, you can make a 22 second 50% slow poison, a 4 second paralysis poison, and a 40 point lingering health damage poison.

Shouts:

Call Dragon - Hadhod has a skill "Dragon Calling", so this seems rather fitting

Elemental Fury - "Overwhelming Axes" they are overwhelming, I tell you

Become Ethereal - "Stone Shield" protects him from all damage

Fire Breath - To supplement Destruction for ranged damage, "Flaming Fury"

Slow Time - I'm sure you could argue to include this if you love it like I do, "Overwhelming Axes" again!

Battle Plan:

Roll into battle with Flame Cloak in one hand, Ebonyflesh in the other, cast each, pull out your War Axe and Mace. Poison one weapon or both (I have found it is easy to make a stack and hotkey or favorite them), shout Elemental Fury - or if you are using enchanted weapons shout Slow Time. If you need to regroup, shout Become Ethereal or use a few paralyzing poisons to re-engage from range with Destruction magic. You should have 450/550 AR, around 70% magic resist, 30% magic absorb (80% with Atronach Stone or Dragonskin, 100% with both), so you should be able to tank. This build does not utilize any healing, so you will have to be careful with how you engage your targets. I was using a Mace with Absorb Health and Fire Damage, and a War Axe with Absorb Magicka and Shock Damage; and then two unenchanted as well. Each weapon was putting out around 40-50 damage on Superior smithed with 1/5 Armsman.

If you read all of this, I will bake you a cookie.
