I'm getting worried about the armor cap right now. I'm at 510 armor rating right now and some npc (like an elder dragon) can one-shot me at the moment. I've seen a stormcloak soldier with a two-hander and he just killed me in one blow.

So what am I going to do after I reach the armor cap? The npc's will just get stronger and stronger while I stay at the same armor for the rest of the game. How am I supposed to defend myself against those guys?

what difficulty are you on? if your playing on master this is expected and if you re playing on a lower difficulty this is quite odd, with an armor rank of 500 i can usually fend of most attacks on medium difficulties.

and also, your armor rank definds how much you resist dammege (e.g.: the cap, 565 or so, will make resist 85% of dammage (much like elemental resistance)) so if you haven't got much HP (wether from lack of investing in health on level ups or desese) this can make the game quite hard.

other than that it could be some bug making enemies harder (seems unlikely).

also some mods make enimies harder, even if its not there main function.

hope this helped. if not, please say so

I'm playing on legendary... And it can't be low health because I've been investing every level in health since the start.

thats why!

legendary is the hardest difficulty and was made as a part of Skyrim's last mager patch quite recently.

if your concerned thant the enimies are too hard, reduce the difficutly

and if you are on legondary on purpose, it is suposed to be near impossible and your not doing anything wrong (in-fact , you are doing well if you can survive as well as you are

Invest in enchanting and work on enchants that up your armor skill, health regen, and health points. Enchants that help with magic/fire/frost/shock resistance should help as well against enemies such as dragons.

You can use wards for dragonbreath and shields for physical damage. Block is capped at 80-85% and is calculated before armor. On expert I can let a giant beat on me indefinitely with my shield up. I use the highest level shield of solitude with 3 perks up the left, and elven armor that is capped if I have a shield equipped. The perks to block arrows and elemental damage make a huge difference.

What combat style are you using?

It might just be the way I play, but i usually take more damage from silver hand than anybody else. They've got warhammers, silver swords, and archers that just swarm you.

I usually put a lot of effort into getting my magic resistance up, and don't put many points into health since I focus on stealth and mobility.

An essential follower like Mjoll would be dishing out legendary damage, and some summons could break up the action. Dremora lords would also be inflicting legendary damage
