beat the main quest this morning and want to start a new char to do another questline

thinking of being a "female vampire seductress dark brotherhood" kinda char.

is this a good build for that? the perk system is really confusing to me

First, make a female. The dark brotherhood are silent and deadly, you are best working on archery, light armor, sneak, speech, pickpocket and lock picking. possible alchemist? I recommend Wood elf.

You can wear your shrouded armor.

I think thats all you need

I plan my next character to be evil, he will side with the daedra, join the thieve's guild and the dark brotherhood, etc. He will be an assassin/dual wielding dagger/sword/sword and magic type of fighter, I will also use illusion magic for invisibility, muffle, etc. I haven't settled on a race yet, I'll probably be a khajiit because I'm already a dark elf.

I am going to make a Khajiit With black fur and Greed markings (if possible). I am going to work mostly on archery for my main combat method and daggers just in case. I will work on illusion so that i can use muffle and invisibility or calm and would put short amounts of points in that tree. I plan to max out the Archery tree, the pickpocket, sneak and possibly invest in lock picking, but that isn't a primary need. I would add a couple of points to alchemy so that i can create powerful poisons to add to people by pickpocket and by means of poisoned blade. This character is going to be a Thief primarily and a Dark Assassin secondarily. he would go to the college of winter hold in a concealed guise to work on his illusionary magic, but as soon as all of his needs are complete, he would slaughter all of them. Loose ends and all that...

I don't understand the purpose of multiple characters... you were meant to choose wisely :p

The only reason I would choose a new character is to freshen up the combat, and to choose the other side of the civil war. Other than that you can do everything with one character.

I don't like being a jack of all trades, so having multiple characters is a must for me as I see different aspects of the game with each character.

For instance, I wouldn't join the dark brotherhood or the thieves guild with my virtuous warrior. I also wouldn't check out the mage's college.
I wouldn't join the companions with a mage and depending on what kind of mage I may not join the dark brotherhood and the thieves guild either, or maybe 1 of the 2.
I wouldn't join the companions as an assassin and probably wouldn't do the mage's college with that character either. If I was strictly an assassin and above petty thievery, I also wouldn't do the thieves guild.

What parts of the game I take on just depends on how my character fleshes out. I don't like to do it all because it not only feels like it waters down my character from a role play stand point, but I also wouldn't have the same incentive to play through again.

For my next character I want to be a thief. I've played a sneaking assassin before, but I mainly used sneak for combat, I never used it for stealing or pickpocketing. This time I want to take a little emphasis off combat perks and go for more of the traditional thief archetype with perks in lock picking, pickpocketing, sneak, and speech.

I actually just started my 2nd character. My first toon was an Imperial Mage. Got him to 52 or so and decided I'd like to make a Warrior type so now my Orc Warrior, Sprinkillz, is 21 or so d:] ! I love my mage but after so many hours of play Skyrim lag ruined the gameplay for me. It literally takes about 10-20 seconds just to go in or out of my home in Whiterun, where as on my new toon it's almost instant -________- ! Anyways, I'm loving the Warrior playing experience. I made this toon in memory of my Warrior in WoW back in the good old days. In WoW I rolled an Undead, but there's no Undead race in Skyrim and I walways wanted an Orc so it worked out nicely d:D ! I plan to play this toon for quite awhile but after him I already plan on rolling an Assassin Kitty ^_^ since it seeems to be all the hype.

Well my first character is a thief/assassin. So I think I may go warrior 2 handed heavy armor hero a goody goody I'd suppose u'd say. I'd say mage but its not all that appealing to me atm we'll see tho. I still have a long way to go with this character. Really still early on in the main quest line kinda just been sneaking around stealing whatever I can, and murdering whoever I can make a profit on. :)

What do you guys think about a thief build with no archery? For combat, I'd sneak and in conjunction with the quiet casting perk, use illusion spells like the frenzy spells for enemies at range and let them kill each other while I remain unseen. Then I'd use a dagger to backstab the last one standing. If I got cornered, I could use a calm or a fear spell, cast invisibility, sneak away, or just plain high tail it out of there with high stamina.

I'm thinking: sneak, pickpocket, lock pick, speech, illusion, one handed.
Might be more fun than the typical archer assassin and it's a little different. It's a shame killing people is so essential in Skyrim, it kind of forces thieves to overlap a little with assassins...otherwise I'd skip on one handed entirely.

Seems like it could be fun, though dragons and boss fights could give me some trouble.

I played a Imperial female thief/mage up to 40th level and hit a wall. I spread my perk trees way too thin only maxing out on sneak and destruction.. I started a Nord warrior type cause I wanted to focus on Smithing and enchanting. A warning to those starting new characters. Jack of all trades characters do not pay off. Make a bunch of different ones that you can max out perk trees and get the really cool stuff. Though I love my Thief/Mage she is not powerful enough for my liking.

Btw Mages seem more limited then before. You can get the master level destruction spells and max out the perks for added damage, but then you hit a wall. Where as a warior with Smithing skills; you can make a decent weapon, improve the quality, enchant the weapon, poison the weapon, and add a bunch of added bonuses to your 1 or 2 handed. Plus Blocking, I have found, is one of the MOSt beneficial Perk Trees you can max. If not just for the elemental damage reduction (dragons can huff and puff!)

i guess my argonian is a assassin/thief/warrior? i wanna make a strict stealthy type of character but i'll probly
get all involved with the new one and get bored with my argonian. do you start seeing more badass weapons as you level up cause it seems like i keep seeig the same steel and iron boring weapons. the argonians cool
because you can stay underwater. pretty handy for sneaking and escaping.

Actually mages are rather OP,especially when you get higher. My mage is level 50 and with 100 smithing/enchanting I made it so my destruction spells are free and I have a huge mana pool for all the rest of my spells which are very cheap to ast through perks.

Prey approaches...
Zak is referring to the damage. It is woefully underpowered at a high level.

Sure, you can do the zero cost thing. Yet you still have to hit enemies with a large amount of dual cast spells to bring them down. Not to mention zero cost is an exploit that completely undermines the purpose of being a mage with high mana. It should be effective without enchanting for cost reduction, and really effective with it.

Mine is around 75% cost reduction and I feel like it's about right mana wise. I would rather have higher cost with higher damage then zero cost flea-bites. Compare destruction to melee weapons and it's a joke. Without using expoits, you can put two enchants on a sword each matching the power of an adept level spell. Not to mention the damage increase you get from fortify 1h/2h + Smithing. You can apply weaknesses to magic/poison with poison and then stack poison on top of that.

What do mages get? Freaking fireball, a bit of cost reduction, and limited damage increase through alchemy.

Psst...I know who you are. Hail Sithis!
I suppose I will just say my latest char. considering I have only logged 2 hrs on him lol. He is a Nord weaponmaster (archery, block, one-handed, smithing, heavy armor). Love it! So versatile to not be switching spells in the middle of battle, and only having 5 things on my favorites list.
