I don't think you're angry. Since you're calling me aggressive, it does seem that you're projecting that on to me, so maybe you really are angry. I don't know. I don't like to presume these things. But I don't see why you accused me of ad hominem in a post that was about me. So I am perplexed at that, and at the fact that you seem intent on making this personal, beginning with your thinly veiled jab at Docta Corvina -- which she is too agreeable to confront you over and which I initially ignored in order to give you the benefit of the doubt -- and continuing with your misinterpretation of my post. But there's no aggression, unless you think disagreeing with you is some sort of attack.

Once again, there was no jab, thinly veiled or not, as I have adequately explained. Said explanation was also accepted by the supposedly offended party. As the topical discussion between us closed some time ago, I suggest that we call it here, as I am sure that neither of us have any real interest in arguing about what the definition of 'is' is.

I appreciate that you and others recognize the implications for self-esteem of women in society. But honestly, for me, it goes beyond just women. "If you're not a beefy manly man with washboard abs, don't shop here! If you're not "cool" and you lack a great movie star face, in addition to a great body, don't shop here!"

I'm irritated on everyone's behalf, man.

You're right, but I can also age and somehow be called 'distinguished'.

I didn't take the time to read your other exchanges. Glad you're both friends now, man. Have a nice day!

I have to admit, I did not find the touched nerve comment all that necessary. I mostly ignored it because it seemed to me like it suggested I could only be angry because I took it as an affront against my body type or just plain took it personally because, why not. And that's not the case. As I said above, I'm not irritated on my behalf or just women's behalf, I find it repugnant across the board.

I said early in the thread I could shop there if I wanted to - I fall within their 'range' of sizes. But it's not about that, it's not the point. And I really don't think gender even had to enter into the discussion in the way that it has. Seems like there are plenty of men/young men who find it unpleasant and refuse to shop there. It's offensive to most of society, because it caters to such a small subset. It's about pettiness and a broadly demeaning business model. That's really what it's been about for me.

You have my formal apologies for making the comment. I am prepared and committed to rendering any and all reparations as deemed necessary by the involved parties and forum administration.

Clearly you aren't getting what's being said. The CEO not only wants to cater to those who are skinny, but who are rich and white.

Umm. No Not just white.

I find that statement kind of funny. Would everyone here be ok with all of this if the statement was "We don't want Those White Fat Redneck trash wearing out clothes"?

Hey, man, maybe I'm half hippie-soul or something, but my reaction is people should be able to wear what they want. Race, gender, height, weight, age, whatthefluffever. Within the boundaries of the law, of course. But hey, I'd still be upset if they said "None of Those White Fat Redneck trash!". I honestly would.

Yep because we all know Rednecks should be rounded up and exterminated. So, yea, totally cool with rednecks not being able to wear a certain brand. Doubt Walmart would tell them they couldn't shop in their stores though.

In fact, in virtually every Disney animated film the protagonist is an image of ideal physical beauty, while the antagonists are depicted as being outside that ideal.
Eh, I'd agree on a good handful of Disney villains, but there are some definite exceptions.
1) Evil Queen of Snow White (her real form)
2) Maleficent (your mileage may very, but I think she's pretty despite the green skin)
3) Gaston (who'd honestly be the hero of many other fairy tales)

Heck, the fairies in Sleeping Beauty may not be the traditional protagonists, but they really do most of the work in the movie and they're certainly not the physical ideal.

Please note I get what you're saying, I just gotta defend my childhood. :D

Well I haven't seen the Walmart article saying that either. I'm afraid if they did, there would be no one shoping at Walmart anymore...

...But your assumption is that A&F is catering to only "Rich Young White Guys" as if all those "Old Fat White Guys" that you've hated all this time are all in some sort of Disguise. I guess people like Kanye West are old Fat Rich White guys in disguise too? I'm actually impressed. I Honestly couldn't tell.

I know its fun to try call this "Another Conservative Establishment", but it's all in your head... because it's not.

It would sound more "admirable" from you to dislike A&F's stance simply for their Views they have towards "Ugly" people.
If you really are a political and social progressive, then how are we going to stop "Discrimination" by "Discriminating" against everybody?

Defending white people, it's serious business.

I can understand them using beautiful models in their ads, but only hiring "cool people" or "good looking people" for their business is almost like going back 60 years, to the time of segregation. It's like they are hanging a Hot People ONLY sign on their front door.

He's probably a libertarian.

CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?

Unfortunately, no. The nature of the internet and the anonymity associated with that nature relegates so much of the discussion to a giant dog pile, where everyone is trying to scratch out everyone else's eyes in order to reach the top of the heap. Personally, I find that letting the other person have the last word is always the best course. It gets you out of the mess and robs the other person of their next retort, thus disarming them. Otherwise, you keep going 'round and 'round, like a washing machine stuck on spin.

I agree, but 11th Doctor is not that anon in a way. They have been here for awhile (even longer than that the Sign in date says), and although I'm less known, I still have been around abit to be less "anon" on the site as well.

now in this particular situation, if your saying the 11th Doctor and I would both "Not" have this discussion, and or be tearing each others throats out.... I seriously doubt it.

This wasn't a Dog fight though guys, however I did start it when I saw the "A&F make their clothes so only White Rich people can wear them". I more just found it funny how 11th Doctor thought all Black people are too fat to wear A&F Gear lol!!!!! (snip)

That being said I've read enough of 11th Doctor that if I'm going to be completely Discussed and offended by him/her, it would have happened along long time ago.

It is true about the "let the last comment slide" thing. Thats always a good thing to do.;)

JD aka 11th doctor loves to stir the pot, this forum isn't exactly anonymous because many of us have known eachother for quite some time.

What I mean by anonymous is that you don't have to give your name, details, etc. What you say and do here won't necessarily follow you in real life. I was a member of a submarine simulation forum for 13 years, and while I knew the first names of a number of members and where they lived, I didn't know them sufficiently to have any real repercussions should there have been a falling out, if that makes any sense.
