Fus.. RO DAH!
So, I've literally tried every single build people suggest, and done every single faction. But it just get's boring-er and boring-er each time I start a new character. Does anyone have any FUN builds that do not need Dawnguard or Dragonborn?

AS88 probably has some fun builds that you could try (he lists them all in his forum signature).

Maybe just try taking a break from Skyrim, though. Play something else for a while and then come back to the game with fresh eyes. That's what I'm doing now, because Skyrim started to feel dull to me as well.

I feel this way every two months or so. I go off and play COD or something like that. Maybe a little GTA but I always find myself coming back to Skyrim. I just need a break from it every once in a while.

Make a back story and motivations for your character that will make you feel more emersed in the world do what your character would do not what you would do. If that fails take a break and play Bioshock: Infinite seriously can't recommend that game enough.

Take a break! I usally take a break for like 3 months. When I come back to it it's always fun again. Have you given any of the DLC's a try? If you wait a few months, download Dragonborn, and try again I bet it will be very exciting again!

Dark Souls..... Or any other game you like. Just a small break.

try doing something else.

seriously, don't most activities get boring after a while? That's when you quit and move on to something else. If you're still feeling the urge to play the game, then you must not be bored of it.

It has already been mentioned several times but I'll chime in as well. Yes. Take a break. I got interested in other things and was gone from the forum for well over a year before I felt the call of Skyrim again. I'm taking it slow and even though I've grabbed all the DLC last week, I have yet to start playing any of the new stuff.

If you simply can't drag yourself away from the game then just play the way you most like to play. I purposefully avoid doing questlines unless there's something in them I need or want. I make my own quests.

I hear ya, I get bored of Skyrim very easily because I beat all the DLCS in a very very short period of time, and I've played the factions so many times that I don't see the benefit of even completing them anymore. I do like to check in and do a little bit of missions just for fun, but I rarely get into it for hours like I used to. I rarely play games at all anymore since I'm so bored of all the ones I have. Sometimes, all you need is a new game to play to help your mind wake up a bit and explore the possibilities, and then when THAT is done, you may find yourself wanting Skyrim again :) That's how it is for me.

Taking a break from the game is the best thing you can do. I am doing the same thing at the moment, and now I am into a game again that I used to play a lot and got bored of, before playing Skyrim again. What I basically do is drop a game and get back to it later when I feel like playing it again. This is how I keep the experience of Skyrim fresh.

Try a town drunk. Play exclusively for fun. Hit people, get thrown in jail 40 times. Pickpocket for a living. Keep your roughspun tunic and footwraps from Helgen and attract fleas. Just cause chaos, y'know?

I tried it once, and that day just flew by.

You could try playing a different way rather than different builds. Do you smith and enchant your own weapons? Try playing a character who has to find or purchase everything they use. Do you loot all the containers and corpses you find? Try playing a character who can only purchase or be gifted items. Do you get all your cash by selling loot, or buy a lot of equipment and materials? Try playing a character who can't buy or sell anything. Do you always do a lot of quests? Try playing a character that refuses to do any quests. I've played as a quest hating NPC many times, and have a lot of fun.

Alternatively, you could play as a completely mismatched build for the novelty of seeing if you can make it work or not. I'm going to try play as a law abiding hunter who has to put all her perks in enchanting, alchemy and lockpicking instead of more hunter friendly trees like archery, light armour and sneak.

I guess I have to start playing TF2 again...
Mama mia.

I took a break to play Dark Souls. It's a very different game but makes you appreciate the game save function in Skyrim. The levelling in it goes up to 710 (Legendary) but never finished it, as to me "patience is a card game not a virtue". Went back to Skyrim for my sanity.

I play on the XBox as well, and have been in a bit of a rut because very little seems different no matter what your char build is. The quest's, dungeon's and most times the end result is the same across the board. No matter who wins the War, it's still talked about. no matter how many people you char saves, how many evildoers it kills, how many villages and cities you save from Dragon's, your char is still always treated like poo. Except for some of the female NPC's,"It's a great day when you're around". So to break the monotony, I took a couple of day's off of Skyrim and both DLC's and have been sitting on the edge of my chair playing Dishonored.

Take a break, and come back to the game in a few months. I got bored of it too, recently got back addicted.

It's just a damn shame about how Bethesda did us, and did Skyrim. I only hope they have learned that putting out something that isn't ready is not the right thing to do. If they haven't, they may well lose us. I did some checking on Dishonored as it has Bethesda's name on it. I bought when I found out Arkane made it, and Bethesda produced it, meaning they had little if anything to do with the game.

Bethesda might find people leaving any game with their name on it on the shelves unless they improve their work ethic and quality. I'll look at them like I do restaurant's, if I get bad service and/or food, I never return.
