I played a Dunmer and she couldn't stand them. She didn't believe in Talos (and I never personally liked Talos for what he did to Berenziah) but she couldn't stand the pretensious, stuck up Justiciar patrols. She also didn't appreciate the invasive and bullying ways they asked questions about her beliefs. It got to the point that she would run up to all patrols she met and proudly announced that she worshipped Talos (even though it wasn't true) to troll them and instigate a fight.

My Orc dragonborn could care less as long as they aren't bothering her. Though it's so cute when they think they can win a fight with her and she ends up killing them with her barehands......respect for Malacath. People will learn. Or die.

People who legitimately support the Aldmeri Dominion only do so to be a hipster. It's an evil faction with evil goals.

Or... hear me out, maybe there are those of us out there who genuinely enjoy assuming the role of a villain?

Take this into consideration. What if the Thalmor felt the way you did, and so did every other in-game threat?
  • No Thalmor attempting to control Tamriel (No Civil War)
  • No Alduin and the dragons returning to rule Nirn once again (No Dragon Crisis)
  • No Harkon/Volkihar Clan trying to eliminate the sun (No Dawnguard questline)
Would you honestly be interested in a game that doesn't have people going against what you believe is right, presenting some sort of adversity? Nope. I just enjoy being an elf, and being a baddie as well. So if being pro-Dominion makes me a hipster, I'd rather not be mainstream ;)

Many Altmer and Bosmer would be against the Thalmor. They take part in ethnic cleansing of the Elven races, Bosmer are slaughtered by probably thousands through these ethnic cleansing as well as Altmer such as the Night of Green Fire. "Don't worry about Malborn. He's not a dangerous character like you, but he hates the Thalmor at least as much as I do. He's a wood elf - the Thalmor wiped out his family back in Valenwood during one of their purges that we never hear about." - Delphine

Legate Fasendil, while on leave, went searching for relatives among the Altmer refugees in Sentinel (who had fled from the Thalmor in Alinor). While making his way there he witnessed the sky light up as the Thalmor attacked Altmer dissidents living in the city, which resulted in the destruction of the refugee district and the murder of many refugees; the incident gained infamy as the "Night of Green Fire". Fasendil requested a position in Skyrim in order to keep an eye on the Thalmor, whom he suspected of having a role in fueling the civil war.

Not to mention the fear the Thalmor Agents themselves face for being apart of the Thalmor, if you make a mistake in the Thalmor you're in trouble, especially when they strive for that Elven superiority His file had remained dormant for many years, an inexcusable error on the part of my predecessor (who has been recalled to Alinor for punishment and reeducation) - Thalmor Dossier Esbern

Reeducation doesn't sound very friendly.

I recommend the Rising Threat series. Lathenil of Sunhold knows what's going down

Altmers, can be yes or no.

Bosmers, HIGHLY unlikely since Altmers tend to look down on Bosmers for being "beast like" or "savages".

Thalmor 3rd Emissary
By "supporting" the Thalmor I mean do you qualify for at least one of these 4 criteria:

1. Would you willingly give a donation to the Thalmor Embassy?

2. Would you gladly carry out Elenwen's (or whoever the leader of the Thalmor is on Alinor) orders?

3. Are you a High Elf nationalist?

4. Do you believe that Talos is a false god

My character supports the Thalmor for a few reasons:

1. He can live in Skyrim and pursue his studies of the Arcane without being considered "impure" upon his return to the Dominion.

2. Supporting the popular political party ensures that his family will keep its prominent status as nobility (an Altmer going to Skyrim willingly makes people wonder, even if he did become Arch-Mage of an Arcane University and marry one of his own kind)

3. He believes Talos is a false God

4. He dosn't quite believe in the ultimate superiority over man, he just believes that since the Mer are descended from the Aedra, they should receive homage and more respect

Ok so I know most of you hate them because they attack you on sight, and I hate them for that too, but aside from that, let's say Skyrim allowed you to join them and they were friendly to you, would you then support them? How could you possibly turn down your race being superior to the others? And please try not to think through your 21st century filter, think as your character would in the medieval period (roughly when Skyrim takes place). I mean really, they ARE the pro-Elven political party, so why not support them?

1. Yes, my current character is a high mage from Alinor using the war as a cover for him to finally start research on the dwemer who have always interested him.

2. Yes if I were a lower ranked member of the Thalmor, however should my mage join the Thalmor he would be immediately granted a higher position than Elenwen.

3. Yes, High elves were in Skyrim before the Nords, we have the right to rule Skyrim. The Nords are nothing more than barbarian invaders. High Elves are also the most intelligent and gifted of the races.

4. Talos is a false God. Suggesting that Talos is a God, is suggesting that anyone can become a God. After all he was a man, albeit a very powerful emperor and conqueror, arguably there are many people equally deserving.
Men can never become Gods. Next we will be seeing argonian and orc gods.. god of the slimy lizards and god of the green pigs.

You could make the argument that Talos was a false god.

But to me it's undeniable that he is just an "idiot" god.

Orcs do have a god , Malacath. They worship him by different names. And I don't know about the Argonians , though they might worship the Hist.

I roleplay my Altmer as an undercover Thalmor agent sent into Skyrim to investigate other Thalmor agents within the province, particularly Ancano, whose behavior has become erratic and uncontrollable. So, yes, he would definitely support the Thalmor.

My Bosmer, on the other hand... I don't think I've ever really thought about it. If anything, she would be indifferent to the Thalmor, as she is indifferent to most organized factions aside from, maybe, the Thieves Guild. She's very much a rogue: prefers to work alone so she doesn't have to split any profit, doesn't maintain any personal or business relationships with other people, keeps to herself. Unless the Thalmor were directly and negatively affecting her treasure hunting, she wouldn't care about them one way or another.

I'm a Bosmer and no, I don't support the Thalmor. (which is gonna suck when I wanna play a woof elf in TESO)

I really couldn't care either way, and stay neutral in most all things political. I'm not a huge Talos fan, but I don't think it should ever be illegal to worship someone, whether they're an "actual" god or not. I do like to think elves are better than humans, but more as a joking competition-type thing than actually believing in racial supremacy. (<--kinda like as kids, saying us girls are all smarter and better than boys, which is totally true lol). I'd never support ethnic cleansing of any type and I'd definitely never donate or take orders from Elenwen. I'd never take orders from anyone at all, really, if they ask me to harm another person.

But, speaking of ESO, I do sympathize with the original Dominion's motives, before all this Talos stuff. The elves were there first, after all, and they seem to just be looking out for everyone and making sure no one does anything stupid. A lot of humans are young and inexperienced, and a government with more order would be beneficial...

About Talos, I don't think they even care if there are 8 or 9 divines. It's just an excuse so they would destabilize Empire... you know, divide and conquer. That way Empire is weaken and easier to control.

Of course i support the Thalmor cause there is nothing more noble for a Mer. Mankind is to young and reckless and soon in the near future we shall rule.

I agree there, but you need to think about the other mer, including the orsimer, the manmer and the dunmer.

I could see a prospering aldmeri dominion, where all mer are some that equal.

The altmer are intelligent and powerful wizards.

The bosmer are stealthy and strong archers and rogues.

The dunmer are pretty good but not perfect in pretty much everything. My particular favorite class for them is battlemage.

The orsimer are superb warriors.

The bretons are also excellent mages.

IBut until there intentions become better, i will not support them.

Why do you all keep excluding Khajiits... They are part of Aldmeri Dominion and they are one of oldest races in Tamriel.

The kingdoms of the Khajiit existed long before recorded history. Elsweyr consisted of 16 kingdoms of about 20 different types of Khajiit early in the First Era, which were a model of cooperative specialization and harmony compared to other races of the time. The Thrassian Plague would upset this balance in 1E 2260, leaving only two primary kingdoms. The province was fashioned into its modern state in 2E 309 when Keirgo of Anequina and Eplopsa of Pellitine combined their long-feuding domains and gave the land its name, sparking a class struggle that briefly threatened to draw outside intervention. The people of each kingdom found themselves drawn together by their leaders, which was considered a betrayal by many, as the northern Anequina saw Pellitine as depraved and decadent, while the Khajiit of Pellitine thought Anequina barbarous.

Peace was eventually restored amongst the Khajiiti by the generally non-partisan Mane, Rid-T'har-ri'Datta, who "bestowed to the classes equality under the bi-lunar shadow, dividing their power in accordance with two-moons-dance". What this established, in a more understandable sense, was a rotational power base in which both sides of Khajiiti society, the southern city-dwellers under the nobility and the northern nomadic tribes under their chieftains, shared alternate control of the region based on the phases of Masser and Secunda, which are held in great reverence in Khajiiti society. The terms of this measure, the Riddle'thar, were overseen by the thinly-veiled dictatorship of the Mane himself. The efficacy of each individual Mane has varied greatly, and some led the Khajiit to periods of strife and war throughout the Third Era, especially with the Bosmer. They have historically achieved greater peace and prosperity under Imperial rule (according to Imperial scholars), yet often rebel against their authority in keeping with their unique view of the world.

In 4E 98, the moons Masser and Secunda vanished, creating fear and strife amongst the Khajiit. When the moons reappeared two years later and the Thalmor announced they had used magic to restore them, the Khajiit praised them as their saviors. In 4E 115, popular support for the Thalmor led to a coup against the Imperial-backed government in Elsweyr and the reestablishment of the ancient kingdoms Anequina and Pelletine as client states of the Thalmor.

1. No. Im a dark elf. To me the thalmor are just a fancy group of n'wahs.

2. Never. Elenwen may act nice, but she is still inhospitable and racist.

3. No, and never will be.

4. They are all false gods. There is no proof they ever existed. The daedra do things all the time.
