HEY so i was thinking (i know thats bad hehe).... ok my idea... so at times i know that some rps have members leave and etc.. but not everyone reads the ooc at times or no one really posts in the ooc that they are looking for members what if we just had one thread that had leaders of an rp (that are looking for members) post in it saying something like "The Weirdos of the Night are currently looking for members interstead please post your cc in the ooc of "The Weirdos of the Night" <insert link>" eh eh? :D but then again how often would people read that hmm... i dunno i was just throwing an idea out

    Weirdo :p

I like the idea; kinda like a RP recruiting thread. :)

I like it too. It could be like a condensed way for people looking for an RP to join to find one as well.

Seriously Auditore, start Weirdos of the Night. I would so join it. ;)

that would only work if the threads were made announcements so as to keep them constantly on top even if no-one posted in them for some time :)

the idea in itself is good, though^^
Maybe if it got stickied in the RP area....that way it's always on top, and it could be like a "looking for an RP? Look here!!" thread.

Are there any among us Who would rather collaborate with me in a role such as a DM so that we can direct the flow of our rp's? I'm tired of getting into them only to have the RP collapse upon itself due to lack of creativity. Object oriented free RP's are much more fun and flow much better than these entirely free rp's with a beginning plot. Anyone interested shoot me a message, or rather post on my wall. (these school computers block so many things and that includes all the fun javascript menu's this website has so I can't get to messages.

exactly. instead of having to peruse pages and pages of OOC and IC threads, you could just look it up in a single one :) much more concise, not to mention time-saving :)
Yup, and that way, the next time someone wanders over to the shoutbox asking about any RPs that are available to join, I can just point to that one thread instead of telling them to troll the RP section.

well, as far as I understand it, it gives the esteeming RPer the significant information pertaining to his search.
if you are, say, searching for an open but ongoing RP, the tag "open" would point at such. the "private", I think, is an explanation in and of itself, while the "recruiting" simply states that the RP is not yet in progression and is still looking for people to join in on the fun. :)

if I misinterpreted something, please, someone rectify my mistake :D

*takes the new ones under her wing* I will tell you this now... Im picky and sometimes mean :p just kidding... sometimes *cough*
I still don't know what you mean. Would you explain? Remember, you are talking to a noob.

For me this is what it means...
    • Private- its closed and the members have been choosen
    • Open- They are looking for people-- Which should be kinda for the OOC thread and just in place OOC "Weirdos of the Night" (dun dun dun)
    • OOC- out of character comments. character cards etc...
    • Info- Like this thread here
    • 18+ - well same as the Private and we all know what 18+ is

well, I'm no less a noob than you around here, I'm afraid. perhaps even more so ;)

    but anyway!
    • An "open" RP indicates that there is some ongoing action already (or so I believe, mind you), but others are still welcome to join, as long as they post their CCs in the OOC thread of that same RP
    • A "private" RP indicates that there is, indeed, RP going on, but since you haven't been invited, there's no party for you ;)
    • lastly, the "recruiting" tag is usually put in the OOC thread of an RP that hasn't yet started

other that that, I agree with auditore :)

This makes sense. Though I suppose my confusion stems from the fact that it takes time for a mod to change a thread title?

I say this because I have seen more than a few 'open' threads which indicate in their first post that they are no longer accepting new members. Which is why I assumed that only those tagged as actively 'recruiting' were even worth looking at and even then, if they have more than about 20 posts, it seems that it is likely they are already full, given the paucity of new RP threads, that is.

If I'm wrong, please help me. I honestly don't have a clue how to join anything.

USUALLY.. if there is an already started rp that has over time lost members due to a number of things they either post in the rps OOC thread that they are looking for new people, or on their status... etc any means of ways of getting it out there...

Now with the button thing that says what it is, and how fast the mod changes it, its up to who you ask i suppose, i thought that there was an op to change it yourself with edit thread but there is not :/

But with what my idea was like since a lot of new people dont know whats open and whats not my idea was to simply have one thread that had members say "Hey this rp is open, wanna join here is the link post your cc there" sort of thing...

as for joining... a lot of the RPs have ooc threads in which you post your character card in and they look over it and say whether or not youre in .... this is from my understanding and personal experience

    A.Auditore

    maybe...
Totally. I agree. New people don't know what on earth is going on. I can tell you this, as I'm new, and I am completely lost. :) So anything that makes things easier for us is a huge boon!

I'm hesitant to leap into an ooc thread unless it has 'recruiting' on the title. Even then, it seems rude just to post a CC out of the blue. Am I wrong? I thought OOC threads existed for members once they had been accepted. You can see that I grow more confused, the more I think about it.

Ah, maybe this is just too difficult. Hopefully the 'academy' idea will be implemented eventually.
well before posting and if you do seem to be shufflin through the oocs and recruit threads, you could always post "Hey are you looking for new members?" that would be a poliet thing to do (imo)

well, sometimes they do, but then it gets lost in the loads of comments and you'd have to browse the previous pages to find it.

I think that asking is the simplest and the sure-fire way to find out whether you can still apply for the RP or not. :) I mean, no-one gets hurt if you ask, and the worst you can get is a little embarrassment. ;)

If they are actively looking for new members, wouldn't they make a post, saying so? Most threads are clearly totally closed. Sorry. I should stop asking questions now. I am getting more confused by the minute.
LOL Grim, as of right now, this whole "RP Academy" thing is an idea. Once Rayven and the crew get things set up, I'm sure it will make more sense. But I think this kind of goes to show how important the initial idea is....RPing is a daunting task, and can be intimidating to people new to the experience and the forums.

I do like Auditore's idea for a thread entirely devoted to "hey, I've got an RP, here's the link to the OOC, give me your application so I can own your soul" posts. I think it will be a much more clean and concise way to find an available RP than the current system. Going through each and every OOC to see which one is new and recruiting vs. the ones who have their members can be quite tedious, and this way there will be one thread (as opposed to hundreds) that specifically say "hey, Weirdos of the Night needs people to double double toil and trouble!"

Give the bosses some time to get this thing hashed out. It sounds like it's gonna become a whole lot easier for ya. :)
