I serve the Light with a swift blade of justice!
Another character I've been playing the last couple of days is my Orc 1HW w/ Shield Warrior class. I've got to say that I'm loving it! My brother got his copy of Skyrim today as well, so he'll be playing 2HW Warrior.

I've got two questions:

1 (For me)- With my 1HW/Shield Warrior, how should I distribute my health and stamina as I level up? So far I've been alternating bewtween the two; I'm currently only a level 12 right now, so not that far.

2 - (For my brother) Should the distribution be the same for 2HW users, and should he invest in the block skill tree with a two-handed weapon and no shield? I know that you can still block with two-handed weapons, so I'm just trying to get an idea of what route he should take for building a 2HW Warrior.

Much help appreciated, thanks! :)

I usually go 2 health to 3 stamina for dual or sword n board.
1 to 3 on 2H builds for more power attacks.

I personally use 1 Health : 2 Stamina for my one handed characters. For the two handed use 1:3 like the poster above :)

Actually 1:2 was spot on, I forgot my enchantments, der...

As a 1 hander, I tended to dual-wield a lot so I didn't really use block, but as a two hander I played as a crazy guy who just cut everybody down (with the perk that allows you to strike all infront of you) So I didn't even look at block :p

Just personal preference I guess.

And should a 2H Warrior invest in the Block skill tree at all?

Yes....that, hvy armor and 2H should be your primaries. The sideways block that knocks 6 draugr off a bridge is priceless!

Smithing & enchanting as you progress, a wee resto at end game won't hurt, just 1 perk + Healing spell you start with.

This reminds me, upgrading the Smithing and Heavy Armour perks/trees really helps as a two hander.

Superior armour makes up for the lack of health due to the 1:3 health:stamina ratio. (Early on anyway :p)

Be careful tho not to cheat/power level your smithing with iron daggers early on.

As you level, the enemy levels, except they learned spells defences and combat, while you learned sweat equity.

Lost me many a good nord

Depends on your style. If he uses heavy armor and you do a lot power attacks I'd go with more stamina. I personally rarely use power attacks(I don't think I've EVER used a stamina potion) so I tend to go 2/3-1 health.

Also consider the quests for Ebony Mail, I believe you can smith it up with Arcane Smithing at 60 points.

I find that very survivable, but 2H with block really shines with power attacks, think of them like warcraft special abilities and short CD's.

On my One-Handed/Shield character, I level Health and Stamina evenly until I have 250 Stamina, then I go pure Health.

A Two-Handed character should get more health, since their block won't be as effective as a Shield user.

With my current 2her, I started off going 2 health:1 Stamina, as Cronach wears Banded Iron armor and isn't changing it. After my smithing got up enough to make Banded Iron not so obsolete, and a good amount of health enchantments (+60 total), I've started leaning towards a more even 1:1 progression. OTOH, stamina isn't terribly important for him either as he likes his stews, and stews give a constant 1 stamina regen/s for 12 minutes; as you only need to have 1 stamina to execute a bash or power attack, this means the increased stamina is mostly for positioning or brief fights that I don't want to burn a stew on.

A very specific playstyle, I suppose, but I always err on the side of more survivability.

It's not manditory, but they already do the most Bash damage, and with Power/Deadly Bash, you actually get a pretty good dent for your stagger. I don't use it defensively, though, just to nail down side straffing archers doing the dagger dance, and create an opening. Just a splash will do

As for stats, I just do Health, until I find my Stamina is too low, then a few levels' points in that until I'm not running myself out of breath. It's more critical for Heavy Armor, and Power attacks use more than Bash. Even if you're using someone else's ratios, be flexible enough to pick what you need, even if it's not on the schedule. We all play different, some Sprint more, and others take more hits...

Thanks for you help guys! I'm going to be going with 1 Health/2 Stamina Ratio, because honestly I run out of stamina way faster than I lose health, and I am seeing how powerful warriors really are!

I normally go with 2 : 1 health and stamina until I reach 250 stamina then everything in health if it is dual or 2h do the same but 300 stamina. You don't really get more than 5 enemies at once and 3 of them would be standard low level which are easy 1 hit kills, you just need a few power attacks for any tough boss. Health is much more important.

Remember too, it only requires one little point of stamina left on your bar to do a power attack/block!

Enchant your weapon(s) to absorb health/stamina, emphasis on stamina for 2H that uses bashes.

And NEVER buy block perks up the LEFT side of the constellation unless you actually use a SHIELD!!

Once you get up too 250-300 stamina in late game, experience with the build will allow you to stop there.

Oh yeah, for sure! My Character is a sword n' board warrior, but I'll make sure my brother doesn't go up the left side of the block skill. I just got finished looking through the Skyrim wiki very carefully and noted that the left side is more for shields; which I will take that route for my guy.

Wiki up the quests to obtain Spellbreaker shield for real badassery!
