I've never been much of an assassin type - I think it takes far too long and if you ever get detected I find it annoying.

I do love the stealth aspect though, when I am not playing my warrior, I play my recently created Thief. He doesn't kill (disregarding any NPC one HAD to kill to complete the Thieves Guild.)

Yeah, he's more of an RP character - all he does is Thieves Guild contracts, burglaries, pickpockets, etc. He doesn't fight anybody at all - he ever he was to get caught, he would have to run away. He is traited in Stealth, Lockpick, and Pickpocket. That's it. It's a challenge not being able to kill anybody, but it's fun. I encourage anybody to try it.

Well most of my characters are evil daedric worshipping vampire assassins. All of which are very skilled when it comes to sneak, one hand, backstab and they also use archery.

Redguard Illusionist.

I use a scimitar for backstabs and a crossbow for ranged attacks. I thin the numbers first by using frenzy spells and use invisibility to stay hidden. If I am discovered, I use a calm spell on my attacker then invisibility and adrenaline rush, if there are more pursuers, to quickly sprint unseen back to safety.

I wear the Alik'r outfit.
I was still in my prison garb after escaping Helgen. I used the gold I found in the Helgen dungeons to buy a frenzy spell in Riverwood and shortly thereafter found two Alik'r warriors harassing a redguard female. I slinked into some nearby trees, unseen, and cast a frenzy spell on one of the warriors. His partner made short work of him, and I snuck near to collect my newly acquired outfit and scimitar. Though the outfit offers nothing in terms of protection, it forces me to keep to the shadows and outwit my enemies while keeping me light on my feet.

I'm part of no guild or brotherhood and rely solely on myself. I tricked the girl outside of Winterhold college into thinking I had the intent of joining up with the mages, but I only wanted access to speak with noted illusionist Drevis Neloren and learn how to use invisibility. They haven't seen me since.

I'm the careful professional. I like to identify my target early, then wait, watch, and anticipate. I plan for every scenario, take into account every variable. I don't like collateral damage, and plot my movements and those of the target in order to avoid anyone else being in the vicinity at the time. When the time comes for the kill, I move in and out, without anyone else ever knowing I was there. By the time the death is discovered I'm long gone, counting my money.

In Skyrim though, I just shoot them with an arrow and keep hunting.

It's an old 3rd Era (all the earlier games) premade class. Basically, if you took a Dunmer, and maxed out all the skills they come with, plus 1Handed for a dagger.

I guess I'm a "Barbarian" assassin, because she uses a greatsword, but citified. She hates the woods, it gets lonely.
Dude, be careful. Psiberzerker here is a total nightblade freak man!! Like really, I've seen him on plopsloads of threads about them. Don't get him pisssed or he'll bomb you with screenshots!

Haha no hate Psi! Respect bro

I'm also a big fan of the Arcane Assassin (Mage Assassin, I guess.) Instead of Illusion, they just use Sneak to conserve Magicka, but Alteration for Paralysis, and Detect Life, Conjuration for Bound Weapons, and the usual 1H/Archery. Unarmored, since you can cast Ebonyflesh in a pinch, and you don't need Alchemy for poisoning. The beauty of this is that all the spells have durations, so you have time for your Magicka to recover, and they're basically as effective in plain unenchanted clothes, or a loincloth as fully kitted out. (Also, Ragged Robes in Cidnha Mine, or Party Boots/ Clothes in the Thalmor Embassy.)

Quiet Casting isn't really needed, if you Paralyze them first. Sure, they hear you, but are helpless while you hack them to pieces anyway. I don't even get Assassin's Blade, so it's not as gamebreakingly powerful as Nightblade, where you're invisible, and can 1 shot everything.

Stealth is so powerful in this game, I actually limit my playable Assassins so they don't get too powerful. Another good one is the Classic Assassin, no magic, Archery, Dagger, Alchemy, and maybe Light Armor. (Unarmored is more fun.) You can still kill anything, if you see them first, but it's not like they never stand a chance.

One you missed was Necro-Assassin, who uses Backstab, and/or Deadly aim to kill people, then raises their bodies to kill everyone else. May also use Bound Weapons, with the Conjuration, but not Illusion, nor Paralyse. Pretty much like the Classic, except for what they do with the bodies once they're dead...
THANK YOU FOR USING MY CLASS (or at least the name of it)! <3<3<3 no homo

I generally kick down the door with a greatsword in hand shouting "SITHIS IS HERE BITCHES" Killing all in the path. Then proceed to run like a bat out of hell from the guards.

Actually, I first heard the terms Arcane Assassin/Archer on Neoseeker forums before I discovered this place. That's my personal take on it, but I can't really give you credit for the inspiration. Sorry.

I can control myself. I mean, if you ask for more info, then I'll make you wish you hadn't, but I can be brief.
