DrunkenMage

Intoxicated Arch-Mage
The ability to be evil and be recognized as such. In Oblivion there was a punishment for doing bad things and guards would comment on the fact, you couldn't get blessings from the gods but you could walk into a bandit area and not be attacked, the bandits would be friendly because you were bad. I wish skyrim had that, so you could mingle with evil like Necromancers and Bandits and people would react differently to you, like they fear you. Guards would threaten you and appear more aggressive around you.

Joining the Thalmor would of been interesting.

Better AI awareness, a bandit going "It must of been my imagination" with an arrow in his chest is just... They could be on alert and searching etc. Not just going about their business with an arrow sticking out of them like nothing happened.

The Civil war, that could of been done so much better, after the civil war nothing changed, they didn't even recognize who you were and would treat you like a common citizen, you're like one of their leaders and can't even give them orders. They could of thought of something like the Fighters Guild in Oblivion where you could issue your orders of what you wanted them to do.

As for the Companions that could of been longer and more thought out. It was over as quickly as it began, one second I'm like "Oh wow werewolves" next it's like I'm leader of them. As the leader of the factions you should of been able to do more, Thieves guild was like yeah you rebuilt them to glory but will still treat you like the new person. You can't even run the guild. But they could of added more random generic quests for factions, doing the leadership things as the Harbinger of the Companions you handle matters of honor and your word is apparently highly respected among the Jarls and people of Skyrim. Why are they saying I still fetch the mead? Could of at least made changes to dialogue when you get to a certain point within guilds. Like be recognized as the Arch-Mage not have an idiot say you should join the Mages College when you run it.

There was so much potential for things, it just seems like they focused less on the roleplay aspect for the action. Oblivion had better factions and Morrowind before that, I haven't played Morrowind but I heard to advance in the mages guild you needed to be a good bloody mage. Not end up as the leader of all the Mages and only have ever cast one spell.

Having your own fort would of been cool like in Oblivion. Which you could maintain and repair, have soldiers and maybe a little village outside the walls, pay tribute to the Jarl of whatever hold your fort is in. Get attacked by bandits and such, defending the fort and village. Generate money from it, which you can improve the fort and village. You're the greatest hero in the land and the best you get is a Title of Thane which doesn't even mean anything, you're not even considered apart of their court.

More styles of weapons, in Oblivion you had shortswords, normal swords then even a more special one fine sword, the different styles would of been nice, with like armor and weapons. As for shields it would of been cool to be able to place an image on it.

Benefits from hunting, like being able to track and such, create different things with skins, like cloaks and such, would of been nice to see in the really cold areas, watching guards walk around with short sleeves in Winterhold just doesn't seem right.

More spells, like evil spells that are just cool like more Necromancy type spells, where you can do necromancy rituals with other necromancers and gain powers from it, like transform into a Lich like you would a vampire lord or werewolf.

Being able to set up a camp would of been pretty cool, have random adventurers wander in and sit by the fire.

PC is the way for most of these, but it would of been nice for them to at least have things they have already done in the past.

I want to say more weapons. With the 2 handed skill tree no reason for lack of spears and polearms.
Also they perfected archery mechanics, so why not bring back throwing weapons.
Personally I liked the morriwind style multiple types of the same level. so I felt like my character Is for sure unique to me. Cause i like peicemeal armor.
So in conclusion just more equiptment diversity.
Agreed, Morrowind had like 9 different pieces of armor to wear at once and like 20+ different weapons. Then they dumbed it down to less in Oblivion and then even more so in Skyrim. No we have only like 4-5pieces of armor and very few different weapon types. So yeah basically the same thing for me.

So many great ideas here and so many that I think could be incorporated in an update/DLC.
I've posted many times in different threads about these kinds of things but two that I think would be awesome, the ability to climb... I live in a rocky, mountainous area, am an adventurer and yet have never learned to climb, anything. But also, buildings, an assassin that could get to a higher level to await his prey and such.

I'd also like to see enemies and guards be able to give chase on horse back. When you commit a crime in a hold, guards should actively hunt you down but only when they actually know it's you, farm animals shouldn't be able to be informers!!! There could be a lot of fun had with enemies chasing you on horse... and you should be able to be knocked off your horse when they hit you. Flail style maces would be a cool addition here.

General AI recognition of course. Disguises that work!!!!

What about being able to use boats. I find rowing boats with oars that I can knock into the water but my dumb ass Dovahkiin doesn't know how to row a boat!!??

The ability to change the colour of clothing/armour. The addition of cloaks/capes but as something that you can add separately to your armour/clothes.

I play on XBox and I'd be willing to pay a small fee for a d/load pack of new armour and clothes, they could just get the mods that players have created and package them up. That would be amazing, these things keep it fresh.

I'd like to see people moving around in a horse and cart, I find ones that have been attacked but never ones moving around and maybe I could have the chance to catch a lift with them!

I could go on and on... I have a million of these. I would like more RP focused DLC because the game is amazing as it is for now, it just needs some tweaks to increase the greatness!!!

Oh yeah sorry, I said two things and then went on a bit of a roll.

Ach one more.. you should just be able to change war paint whenever you want. And there should be shops in town where for like 10-20 gold you can get your hair done. Otherwise you gotta pay the chick in Riften 1000 gold just for a haircut!! I've never paid that much for a haircut!!! :D

I would have to agree with the weapons thing, as I play through the game, I feel that a lot of the weapons you see are just the same and it gets very very boring.

i would like the option for the world map to be modular. what i mean is for the area maps to be found, bought, traded, stolen, or whatever.

this leads me to another point. some people would not like the map to be missing, so things like this should be an option. after what i've seen on these forums a lot of people want a harder game. so an option for this kind of stuff would be nice.

but back to the map. if i can by or find a very small area of map to show where i've been, with a fog of war for what i havent, and then filled in for what i can get hold of that would be epic. i wouldnt care if i had bought a map on the east side of the map with nothing inbetween. i would want to find out whats there.

This would all be great and I am on Xbox so can only do what they give you no fancy mods. Anyway I really want an expanded res

I want a better respect system or at least recognition system. I want that expanded Civil War version everyone talks about. But mostly I want this. A better role playing options. Okay so this is just for merchants but you could do a variant of this for any number of other role playing options. Okay so it goes like this.
You become thane of a hold. You go the steward and he says would you like to buy a shop. It gives you the options, General Goods store, smithing store, hunting goods store, along with whatever else Beghesda can think of. Then he could give you an option of buying a starter inventory for 2000 or you could use what you have already and what you can find as the inventory. Then you go to your store and the next day customers start coming in. (You have to make it in a large city like Windhelm Solitude Markarth Whiterun or Riften or you will not have enough NPCs to do it).
If you are a General goods guy they could ask for anything from a sword to soul gems to a simple pickaxe or axe. Now this brings me to my next idea. A farmer from outside Whiterun may say my axes have all broken and I need 5 new ones. You don't have any. Then he says I can live without them for a week but I need them by then. Then you have to either trade for them with another customer, or buy them from another Skyrim shopkeeper, steal them from another poor farmer or go on some dangerous journey to a robbers cave to find them.
Now using that idea you can create a rep system. Fulfilling people's orders increases rep causing more people to visit the shop which equals more money. Not fulfilling orders decreases rep which results in less people visiting the shop which in turn equals less money. Which may cause you to lose your shop. This will be explained next.
Now to add some realism here is a rent system. You must pay the Jarl a certain fee every Morndas morning (the fee can be determined by Bethesda seeing as I have no idea what value Bethesda will assign to store goods) a tax collector will come to the door and demand said rent. You get one free pass each Skyrim year or the Jarl will close the shop and you will have to start over. Now there are some issues. One is those who have literally hundreds of thousands of coins will be able to pay the rent without ever selling anything. Well to that I propose Merchants Gold. It consists of only gold you have earned from the shop. It works like normal gold you can use it to bribe or buy things from other stores except for one catch. It is the only type of gold that you can use to pay the rent. So you will want to save it for that. The second problem is what if you want to take a break from shopkeeping or have to leave to fulfill an order. There will be an option each time you leave the store to close it. So if you keep it closed for 2 days out of 7 then your rent goes down accordingly. That way you can still wander around doing whatever you want and not be punished.
And you could do this for so many kinds of stores. General goods, hunting, alchemy, smithing, Mage store, tavern/inn, maybe even enchanting. Anyway thats all from me. To anyone who is still reading thanks for the time.

@doc108 what a great idea. You should also be able employ staff who could run the store while you pop out, of course you'd need to pay them with you Merchants Gold. I'd like to run a tavern I think...

I want more mounts that aren't just horses, such as carriages, wolves, spiders, etc.

I want a "Tinkering" tree that falls under Thief. It would allow you to buy and deploy gun-powder bombs and build Dunmer machines to fight for you.

I want a ship system that lets you sail on the northern waters of Skyrim, recruit NPC's to fight on the ship, and have sea-fights.

I want the game to have actual cutscenes.

I wish they would have recorded voice lines for our characters so they could talk, even if it was just for main quests.

I want the ability to destroy the Thieves Guild, Companions, and College of Winterhold.

I want the game to have Spears/Javelins.

I want the game to have buyable dogs and cats for your home.

I want the game to have an arena.

I want the game to let you build your own city.

@123 Hell yes, the water ways aren't utilised enough! I would love to be able to form a ship crew... you could then work as a band of pirates, attacking and robbing other ships and towns! YAAAR!! Agreed about other mounts. And dogs and cats, I mean, the dogs you can get now, I never buy them because they bark SO much. Why can't they learn not to bark so much?????

Heck, I play on a PC and have access to the free mods, and I'd STILL pay for a clothing/armor mod made by Bethesda because you can never have enough lore friendly options.

Lots of skimpy impractical armor mods out there, but not nearly enough pants for girls. Most of my no-armor characters have to wear either mages robes (even when they're not mages) or the roughspun tunic.

I agree with the rest of your post wholeheartedly, too.

I didn't want to add this to my original post because it was so long but I want more cities/small villages. By my count it has 5 major cities. And 7 small villages. Along with 3-4 small encampments with 2-3 buildings each. Those stretches of road where there is literally nothing. While maybe it makes it more realistic I would love for them to keep most of those but add maybe 3-4 small towns.

Good if you could start to form your own villages and over time grow it into a town, through misc. quests where you help people etc, there could be an option where you invite them to set up shop or just live in your encampment... then as it grows the option changes to village... eventually town... and maybe city... (then you could become a Jarl?)

Oh, I thought of something I want:

Different kids with different races.

Also:

Lycanthropy is different for the different races:

1. Nords, Imperials, Bretons, Mer, and Redguards become werewolves

2. Khajiit become Werecats

3. Argonians become werecrocs

Make character interactions more believable and add more animations! I'm tired of standing on a table in a bar sending things flying everywhere and the npc's nonchalantly telling me their life story, like hello?? I'm standing on your food!

Definitely the interactions. Particularly with spouse and children. (I'm not thinking anything inappropriate). I mean. I can't even give my spouse a gift of change of clothes. I know console commands help but I play on xbox. I think a game like fable 3 did a much better job with things like marriage.
