Nikos hurriedly hid the body that he had beaten beyond recognition.
plops. plops. plops....
plops.
He himself had recieved quite a leathering during his spat with the necromancer, his nose was broken, a tooth had been knocked out and his left eye had been blackened and bruised. Yet, the practicioner of the dark arts was far the worse for wear...
For starters...he was dead and being dragged behind a woodshed where the Inquisitor was trying to figure out a way of disposing the body that was so torn up and mangled that it looked like the poor sod had been mauled by multiple bears and then clubbed a few times by a giant.
Ways of disposal flashed up into Nikos' conscious. There was an axe nearby, he could dismember the corpse and feed it to the nearby pigs who were snuffling in their slop troughs. Or, he could just bury the damn thing out in the wilderness or simply dump the body in a ditch or river to become bloated with water, swell, and rot for the fishes and parasites.
Nikos breathed angrily through his one working nostril, creating a small, thick blood bubble before it popped and splattered small droplets on the left side of his cheek.
Hurriedly, he wiped the gore from his face, (to no success as it quickly started to accumulate again), and hoisted the body further onto his good shoulder. His damaged knee gave out as he reached a particularly troublesome ditch and it gave out without much warning aside from the agonising twinge it gave. The corpse and he tumbled in sick unison down the small slope and landed askew in the stinking ditch. The heavy cadaver landed on Nikos' legs and he yowled in pain as his weakened ankle gave up the ghost; leaving him with very little choice other than to remain face down in this sluggish mess of nature; mud, wet leaves, insects and broken branches thinly disguised in a flimsy veil of weak, melting snow.
He swallowed, battered, bruised, and partially broken, body quivering as he was wracked with pain in this cold, damp pit of despair. He cracked open the puffy, swollen black eye and saw a beetle scurrying towards him with its black exo-skeleton gleaming in cold, merciless light. He growled at it and squashed it under his palm in a vicious outburst.
However, the sharp movement took it out of him and he fell into unconsciousness, covered in dirt, blood and bruises.
And all because...because...
