Question about Speech + buy/sell values

I'm thinking of making a non-combat merchant RP character and I was doing some research. On the ES Wiki, the Speech page has this to say about how much you buy/sell stuff for:

ES Wiki said:
At 0 speech, merchants sell items for 3 times their base price, and buy for a third of their base price. At 100 speech, merchants will buy items for twice their base price and sell them for half as much.

Here's a scenario that I've come up with, I'd like to know if I'm right or not.

Merchant A is selling Sword A, which has a base value of 1,000. At 100 Speech, I could buy that sword for 500 gold before selling it to Merchant B for 2,000 gold, making an instant profit without needing to do anything.

Well, am I? It seems a bit too exploitable, so I'm not so sure...

No I don't believe it works like that, otherwise people would have millions. And it's not the skill lvl, its the perks you get for the skill. So no, that isn't how it works, I believe

i will have to look into the mechanics as i am doing something similar and its a good question, but basically, if you buy from a merchant and sell back to a merchant 'you loose' its all based mainly on the items you loot and sell on, for EG, early game you sell an iron dagger for 2 gold, with a base value of 10 gold, later at 100 lvl and perks you can sell for 8 gold, although the base price is still actually 10 gold, , , if that makes sense,!!

Look at the perk calculator. at max, you can only have buying/selling 30% better, 40% if its the opposite sex

That ES entry is worded backwards. They switched the words buy and sell.

It should say; At 100 speech, merchants will SELL items for twice their base price and BUY them for half as much.
