Just a little run down about myself, to benefit the advice if anyone is willing to help. I'd much prefer help from someone who has played an RPG(s) with a lot of weapon content, however feel free to post anybody =). This isn't the first Bethesda game I've bought, the first was Fallout : New Vegas. Now correct me if I am wrong but that game had maybe 10-20x the amount of (different) weapons than this game! Which is 1 of the reasons why I bought Skyrim because of New Vegas's weaponry.

I am level 32 at the moment and I've had this same Elven Warhammer since I was level 15... I've fought new enemies, etc. Completed quests, cleared dungeons, I even cheated and enabled god mode, just to test if higher leveled monsters drop better weaponry. Which they didn't =(. At level 1 I got myself a 10 damage 1 hander... At level 30+ monsters, they're dropping 10-12 damage 1 handers? Lol? Excuse me if I seem frustrated(which I am) I just can't see how this game got such great reviews with a trashy (early game) weapon system.

So my question from you Skyrim vets would be, do the weapons get more frequent at higher level's? Is it just a bug? If you play a lot of RPG's(Dead island, Kingdoms of amalur, Fallout series, etc) All those titles have A LOT of weapons, now compared to this game, how significant is the difference?

Any help would be appreciated(related to weaponry and other games weaponry), thank you!

Edit : By the way I have a little more than 300 hp, and the food in my inventory heals for 5-10 points. Which is the same amount at level 1. So at max level I should expect around 1k HP correct? I can't imagine people clicking 50-100+ times to heal there self up from low hp. Does food ever get better?

Enchantments, soul gems, blacksmithing and general battle experience will increase the potency of your weaponry. As for the breadth of weapons available, I don't find it too bad - if you have a PC there are hundreds of mod packs to download but the vanilla range is pretty cool too I reckon.

"At level 30+ monsters, they're dropping 10-12 damage 1 handers?"

It shows low damage because you probably do not have any perks in the One Handed perk tree.

Another thing is that nearly all enemies in the game don't really carry strong weapons. Even at higher levels, I've seen most ordinary bandits carrying steel weapons, most ordinary draugr carry the same weapons they have levels ago. You're much more likely to find a stronger weapon in a treasure chest than you are on a defeated enemy. Other than that, you could try buying or smithing new weapons. Finding nifty weapons just doesn't happen when killing ordinary enemies. There are enemies that will carry stonger weapons (Draugr Deathlords start carrying ebony weapons at a certain level) but you really don't see them that much.

And also as the other guys said, having a higher level in a specific combat skill and putting perks into the trees (one handed, ect.) will increase the damage ratings for those weapons. And you can also make weapons stronger through smithing/enchanting.

I almost never use any armor over leather and any weapon past steel. Its the perks you put in to your character that makes these weapons deadly. At level 30 you should see ebony weapons as loot, etc... but there's nothing better than SkyForge steel and the steel smithing perk put to use.

Its not the weapon, its the character skills. I play on expert. My level 30 vampire can be destroyed by bandits with iron war hammers if I'm not careful. I think he was a bandit marauder or something.

The game isn't really limited on weapons, but you might not understand how it all works.

For every "family" of weapons, there are 8 weapons-
1 handed:
Dagger
Sword
War axe
Mace
2 handed:
Great sword
Battle axe
Warhammer

Bow

There are (without any DLC) 7 types/families of weapons.
Iron
Elven
Orcish
Glass
Dwarven
Ebony
Daedric

At first glance, that's a total of 56 weapons without unique weapons or those that can't be created by the player. There are also Falmer, Forsworn and Ancient Nord weapons you can pick up off of enemies.

The real power comes not only from smithing these weapons to create your own and improve them to your highest damage, but from Enchanting them to suit your needs, such as with fire damage, paralysis, absorb health, etc.

Go play around at a blacksmith forge. If you're interested, there are methods to make you maximize your weapons/armor, but some see it as game-breaking because it can get too easy, so I won't share that unless you ask. God-like power is too tempting once you know how to obtain it.

I just couldn't stop answering you'r question. There are good drops from mobs. But those drops are from speciall '' ending bosses'' I almost every time get ebony weaponry from deathlord draugers.
I have got glass/ebony/deadric/dragon weaponry/armor from chief bandits.
And those drop are from 30 - 45. Afther 45 you will get the best loot. But, but only if you kill special type of mobs.

Btw i like the game when you get weapons and armor from quests then making your own. From smithing/enchanting you can get to op. + i RP little, my dovakhin doesn't like crafting. But what he does like is brotherhood, honor and women. Nah screw it i fluff every thing i see. Even my clan members.

* MOHAHAHAHAHA* evil laugh *

Yeah, however even if I had 5 points in 1 handed damage perk that's 20-24 damage weapons. I don't feel like that's a lot of damage(should I think that's a lot of damage? because the weapon system is so simple that it confuses me) because warhammers are the slowest of all weapons, it'll naturally have the highest weapon damage. However I've had this same Elven warhammer since level 15... Where as most other video games with similar system's you would have mutliple upgrades you know what I mean?

I'd also like to point out that I stole this Warhammer so maybe I had more advanced weaponry at a lower level, so it's causing me to feel like there aren't any upgrades because of it. However it's taking me forever to kill these Falmer(Gollum from LOTR) looking creatures Falmer - The Elder Scrolls Wiki apparently they're level 9, I'm 30+ with 300+ HP, 228 armor. And these level 9 creatures are actually killing me(1v1 scenario's sometimes) or forcing me to pop a lot of health pots? So that's kind of countering my opinion about feeling "advanced". Apologies if I confuse anybody. I've played RPG's before, but not like this. The mechanics are completely flipped. It's like lower the level, deadlier the enemies. Or higher level chests(adept master) giving low quality gear(I've got many iron gear pieces from adept/master chests) LOL

I think you are not honest. Are you sure you get iron garbage afther lvl 30?. I'm lvl 30 +, 40 -. And i get stuff that are glass +. almost 60 % of the time.

Yes, I mean I guess it could matter on the location. I am fighting Falmer's right now(level 9 monsters) it's in a dungeon in Markarth(to the far west) The dungeon is called Nchuand-zel not sure if you remember it, I looked in a chest and found Iron crap. Even the weapons they drop are trashy. The worse thing about killing these guys is I am almost 4x their level and they seem to do more damage than me! bahaha

That's really odd...potentially that area of Skyrim should be brimming with loot. If you can find some Dwemer metal (trash or otherwise) loot it and smelt it.

It will mean you have the option to smith some Dwemer stuff which is fantastic! But I'm biased!

I think I may have figured out some ways, like I am lvl 33 and I have almost level 80 two-handed expertise, my smithing is almost 60, pick pocket is 100. However I don't feel God-like in any way especially when I struggle to kill level 9 monsters. I'd like to know this Game-breaking god-like power, I probably won't use it but curiosity always kills this cat

I can't imagine playing Skyrim for the loot. LOL.

But yeah... I play a loot only game for armor and weapons (no crafting), when I really, really want to challenge myself. I wouldn't recommend it on an initial playthrough. You really have to investigate smithing, and possibly enchanting. And learning a bit of alchemy and/or buying potions would help. With a couple of exceptions, I see food as more of an RP thing than anything useful in battle.

And someone correct me if I'm wrong, but Falmer and Forsworn do not stop at level 9. I was always under the impression that they were 2 of the npc types that levelled with the player. My current character is level 66, and Falmer Shadowmasters can still kick my ass if I'm not careful. If you were being killed by wolves and mudcrabs, I'd worry.

If I want a good weapon, I craft it, temper it and enchant it myself, I don't wait for some burly Nord with a drinking problem and a chip on his shoulder to attack me on the road to Windhelm. Where Skyrim differs from other RPGs (even those in the previous Elder Scrolls games) is that you can make and improve your weaponry and armour. It's actually a huge part of the fun of the game, for me.

I LOVE that Bethesda added smithing the way they did, and mining. I really enjoy making things. It's hard for me to play a character who doesn't. I do wish the armor was more varied, just for aesthetic reasons, so I've downloaded mods for that. But one of my favorite mods is extended jewelry crafting. It gives me a peculiar joy to make an ebony sapphire ring.

I totally agree. I'm thinking of getting the PC version just for the mods. And a mod that would allow me more artistic freedom when making things....dude, imma need more mannequins LOL. :D

What everyone else said is generally true. All the weapons I use were bought or enchanted. Don't wait for an enemy to drop something good. And if you want to get rid of that scaling crap and you play on PC, there is a mod for that.

You use food to heal? Do you have something against potions? They are a lot better. I would never think of using foods to heal, however they do make a nice crunchy sound.
