Well.. Had my firs encounter last night...
I was heading into a dungeon for the college of winter hold. But I stopped just before entering because I saw a dragon symbol. So I figured I'd go kill the dragon. Being a lv 5 khajiit Mage with no skills but destruction, it didn't seem like too much a battle. I was fighting the dragon when it flew away so I decided to go and check out the word wall until he comes back.
And out from the coffin sprung krosis. Scared the holy hell outta me. Not only am I fighting a dragon, but a dragon pries who shoots exploding fireballs. Needless to say I saved on the spot.
Cast 2 fireballs that did near no damage. So almost out of health I used ethreal and healed. Now out of magic, I'm hiding behind the word wall wondering what to do. Just used up the last of my potions staying alive I browsed my inventory. And found a few scrolls I can use. So off I conjured a storm atronach and another scroll to power him up. Now the dragon was slain by the atronach. But the dragon priest was still very much alive. Now with most my mana restored I ran and shot a few fireballs at him. Quickly used ethreal an hoped off the cliff. My atronach fought him till his health was halfway depleted, I came around the othe side of the mountain just as my atronach died. I used all the mana I had to cast firebolts nearly killing him. Nearly dead myself I hid behind a tree.
Still being hit by those exploding firebolts I ran behind a rock wall an recharged as he looked for me. Only having 140 total magica wasn't helping me. But I would surely die if I used a sword.
Using the last bit of my mana I charged shooting firebolts. One final hit left and he dies. I shot my last attack only to graze him and him to shoot a death blow back at me. Quickly I opened the menu and drank a resist fire potion. Savin me from a blast that would surely obliterate me. I retaliated with a fireball and killed the dragon priest. I grabbed his mask and staff. And learned 3 words at once. A very eventful but long battle.

That was exactly how the battle went... After that I power levels my conjuration and got a dremora lord for those just incase moments.

Shearpoint was where I had my first encounter with a dragon priest as well. I totally did not see that coming. Lol. I was just minding my own business learning some shouts and out pops some guy. Lucky for me I was a higher level than 20 and Vilkas was with me.

Congrats to you for killing a priest at level five!

Something similar happened to me at Shearpoint too, but it had a far funnier conclusion. It was my first playthrough and I was a level ten or so. Lydia and I hiked up there to see what there was to see when he popped out with his fireballs to scare the living crap out of us. I was a heavily-armored warrior at the time with no archery or magic, so I just kept running dead at him, trying to whack him with my sword. I couldn't even get close to matching his speed and couldn't score one hit on him. He was tearing through my health and I was going through my stock of healing potions. But I kept at it, chasing him all around the top of the mountain until suddenly...he wasn't there anymore. He'd backed right off of the edge of a cliff and fallen down to a ledge below. I looked down to see him angrily staring up at me, futilely waving his staff in my direction. I looted his chest and read his word wall in complete peace. And then I got the heck out of there, being sure to not disturb him again on my descent.

I later returned at level 40ish and managed to kill him by pinning him against a rock wall and repeatedly stabbing him.

I remember my fist battle with a dragon priest. I was level ten but holy hell was he tough. for an achievement junky it sucks that collecting all the Dragon priest mask isn't an achievement.

Yeah, it's a trap. Caught me once before too, on the way to get the books Orthorn stole, was it? Lol, happens to the best of us.

Haha I fought krosis on my archer yesterday. He happened to be level 10. And I used Lydia to tank him while I set loose a barrage of arrows. It took a total of 3 min, and an average amount of 8 potions. It was tough tho almost died a few times. Resist fire potions are so helpful

The blade in the dark and the hand at your throat
I managed to sneak archer the guy at level 4. It took me halfway across Skyrim and I would not suggest it. I told this story before so to save time heres my original post:
My first was also at Shearpoint. I was level 4 at the time and happened to be following a letter from a friend clue. I killed Krosis rather easily since it was just starting to enter night so I had an advantage of it getting darker and easier to sneak throughout the battle, being an archer this made it easy. I instantly recognized the mask as a unique item and looked it up on UESP. Now I'm on a quest to collect them all. I haven't ever gone out of my way to find one yet because they always seem to show up during a quest it seems. I still wear Krosis all the time though. But seriously why does everyone think they are hard?
as a few side notes I did this on default difficulty (Adapt I believe?) and I did get one-hit killed a few times.

My first was actually Nahkriin, since I ran through the DB quest before running into any others. Scared the heck out of me, I was like "WTH is that?" then he made it to the top of the stairs, and turned around... I'd never been hit with Storm Wall before either, that was every but the long painful epic fight it should have been. Little bastard wouldn't hold still, and while I had a good bow, his evasion got to me. Ran me out of potions, and killed me several times until once I got him stuck in a corner, and beat his @$$ down. Man, did that feel good! Defeating Big Bad Al was like petting a puppy by comparison.

Now, I can beat Vokun at level 1(Breton.) I just take a cart to Dawnstar, and run right for High Gate Ruins straight outta Helgen. Still a tough fight on Master, but I'll take Jenassa to even the odds a little. The payoff is so huge for a Breton Conjurer, usually dual wield Bound Swords.

My first was Morokei on the quest of the College of Winterhold. I was level 10 argonian destruction mage. First I was scared... then after dying a dozen times, I was annoyed. And then I was pissed. But, finally, after like 15 reloads, I managed to kill him after running around like a lunatic and spamming him with firebolts and lightining. I think in the end I even took out a sword and stabbed the bastard...

My first dragon priest was Morokei and he took my low-level (16, if I remember correctly) character by surprise. She wasn't an archer, her destruction spells didn't do enough damage, he was rather fast and, soon enough, her ass was grass. It took me 2-3 attempts to finally kill him.

Even now I go "pl*pspl*pspl*pspl*ps" every time I'm about to fight a dragon priest, no matter what level I am and what class I play as.

Archer's your best bet, and it helps to have the Atronach stone. Morokei's one of the easiest, because he doesn't have much room to run. Also, odds are you'll encounter him as a reasonably leveled mage, but you will need some magic resistance, and non-magical weapon skill to take him easilly. I like Bound Bow, you can drain my magicka all you want once it's cast, good luck surviving a full 2 minutes.

All of them have high magic resistance, powerful magic attacks, and no physical attacks whatsoever. They always run too, so your best bet is to corner them so they can't. I use a Scroll of Guardian Circle, it won't turn them (They're already fleeing by default) because they're too high level, but they can't cross it, and it heals you constantly. If you are a melee type, you can then proceed to fux them up with relative impunity. I save those until I get all 8 for those specific battles, there's really no more effective weapon against them.

thankfully i knew about all the dragon priests when i fought them since i went looking for them, and i was at fairly high level for all of them.

for krosis i crouched on a cliff where his fireballs couldnt reach me (i was at 100 sneak) and shot him with my drain magicka bow til he could no longer attack. then i just ran down and hacked away the rest of his health and all he could do was stand (float) and let it happen :D

I had no problems defeating him with my later characters, usually with powerful destruction magic, as I'm faster with it than with the bow (I usually use bows for sneak attacks). The rest of them I found a lot easier to defeat, with a possible exception of Nahkriin, as I can usually corner them and finish them off quickly with dual wielding blades (which I hardly ever do, but when it comes to Dragon Priests, I just want to get the fight over with), destruction magic or a combination of the two.

The great thing about Nahkriin is he does nothing without his staff, so if you can block him, he's helpless. I usually Wuld in front of him, but if you're a conjurer, a couple Frosties play goaly very well. Like all DPs, he can turn Atronachs, but again, he doesn't before he picks up his staff. Once he does, he's one of the most dangerous because he has plenty of room to maneuver, and cover to use.

A good ol' frost atronach definitely does the trick for me when it comes to Nahkriin, along with destruction magic. He does have a lot of room to manouver, but so do I and he doesn't attack me from above while I'm trying to figure out where he's gone, which was the case with Morokei when I first encountered him (yup, I was definitely not prepared for that  )

I found it very mesmerizing to picture this out in my head as I am reading.

A Kahjiit mage with a staff walking up to the rock wall. Looking at the dragon, the dragon roars at him and takes off. The fight you mention ensues and then I imagined you sitting there looking at the wall absorbing the word, then behind you pops up Krosis.

Oh I remember my first Dragon Priest experience.

Shiney, let's be bad guys.
Rahgot was my first. To say I got my backside kicked would be a huge understatement. I barely crawled out of Forelhost and Lydia didn't.

Saint Vicious

Still sober
If I can get em pinned it's game over for the priest. On my new Character (only my second one) a level 32 Orc I'm a ax and shield man. I can easily kill a priest (after all, i'm a saint). But, If I can't pin em, nothing good happens.
