You missed the best thing ever.
*sigh* People who act ignorant to make arguments and get under people's skin confuse the crap outta me. This, like a couple other posts I've seen, could have started out as a decent discussion, maybe even an alternate history thread. Instead, I saw insults and immaturity. My face seriously looks like that now.

I'm still having a really tough time wrapping my brain around the Paarthurnax/Hitler comparison. It just does not make any kind of sense to me whatsoever.

I believe that everyone is on Earth for a certain reason.

Nordic is on Earth to make everyone's brain bleed.

I don't even know why i'm replaying, but the thing is you idiots don't tell them that you think they are wrong. You are already determined that you are right - People like this are like the religious people idiotic, you can't argue with them. There is no discusion becouse you would never change your view on the world, even if you were proven wrong. I rest my case with a quote!

- '' Rational arguments don't usually work on religious people. Otherwise there would be no religous people ''
i'm sorry, i don't see a rational argument anywhere, we are fine with his opinion on paarthurnax being like hitler, that's not our problem with him, our problem with him is that he insults people who do not agree with him. he is the one determined to be right, not us, we are being rational, he is not. He became irrational when he started calling us all jews as though it was an insult, and told people who called this thread 'potentially offensive' that they were in need of mental health checks.

The thing is, if Hitler was still alive (which would be impossible, since he would've died of old age anyway) he would NOT repent whatsoever. He would still be going around ordering the Nazis to capture the jews in order to make the "perfect race" bullplops. Paarthurnax on the other hand, has separated himself from Alduin's rule and completely isolated himself from everyone but the Greybeards on a giant mountain dedicating centuries if not millenias to meditate and repent for his wrong doings in his own ways. I couldn't see Hitler doing that at all if he was alive.

The two are completely different, to compare them is ridiculous.

I'm not advocating this, but if you must compare anyone in skyrim to Hitler and the Nazis, it should be the Thalmor. It would make more sense than to compare Paarthurnax to Hitler

Agreed. I don't think it's entirely ridiculous to compare real life historical figures to fantasy characters, because a lot of fantasy authors do take inspiration from real life horror and tragedy, it helps us connect with the story.

But the Paarthurnax/Hitler comparisson is just too far fetched. We think of Hitler's role in history as this villain with no redeeming qualities. There are any number of fantasy villains we could think of as an evil presence who needs to be defeated so the world can get back to a state of peace. But to me, Paarthurnax is more like a character who has sought some kind of spiritual guidance to redeem himself. Nobody thinks of Hitler in that way. So even if you put aside the fact that one is a person who actually existed, and the other is a dragon from a make believe world, it's still too far-fetched to compare them to eachother.

I've pruned some of this thread. I have allowed it to go off topic in the sense of not answering the original post. The conversation should still be limited to the original post or the actions of those who have posted in response to the racial commentary.

Anyone who commits such atrocities would be brought to justice by whichever governing body was appropriate at the time. Now they have the majority to deal with, and not everyone will agree with their decision. They would have to find some compromise to keep the people happy, and I don't think they'd be able to make it worth it, meaning that protecting such a 'monster' would be extremely counter productive. If a large enough majority thought it right to forgive this person then maybe it could work. Maybe.
Society needs something to hate together, if they are told this 'evil' is no longer then they have to hate something else.
On an individual level it doesn't matter, it all needs separate context and in the case of Hitler, no, I wouldn't forgive him. I wouldn't trust his sudden desire for humanism.

Oh really? Get yourself an Atari 2600 emulator and download E.T.

I would pay to own the original cart of E.T. Why? Because it's become so notorious for being a bad game. It's infamous. I'm working on getting enough money to purchase an actual Atari 2600 and E.T. will be one of the first games I get for it.

Lol. Go to a flea market. There are piles of 2600's at every one I've been to. As for the game, maybe not.
To get back on topic. I think the Thalmor are Hitler-esque. Way more than Paarthurnaxx. If I spelled that wrong I'm too lazy to edit. :p

I wouldn't trust a Flea Market for a working 2600.

And the Thalmor aren't taking Talos worshipers and hauling them off into camps...yet.

I've picked up a couple working units over the years. A lot of places will test it for you right there.
The Thalmor's main goal is genocide. Camps or not, they work towards the elimination of all races but their "master" race. Sounds exactly like the Nazis to me.
