You might try using Clairvoyance.
Sadly, that's one of the areas where the enemies don't respawn even though they're supposed to. If you were on the PC, it's fixed by the Unofficial Patch (without the patch, you could setstage cr02 20), but you are, unfortunately, locked out of continuing the Companions questline on that character since you can't use mods or the console.
