I feel your pain OP. 37 yrs old, mom and wife, i work full time and then some... the eensy bit of free time i get, when everyone else is asleep, i sink it into Skyrim. It has the dungeon crawl/quest feel that i craved after leaving WoW and Diabolo without all of the grinding and social issues that ensue with Blizzard's online community. All other games that i purchase are compared to the TES series in general as far as re-playablity, quest content and open world type features.

We have a metric butt ton of games, but i keep going back to either Oblivion or Skyrim...

32 year old father of 3 with a full time job. I play between the time my kids go to bed at 830pm until my wife gets off work at 11pm. By the way the kids have just gone to bed.....off to Skyrim

I'm 27.

Married with a beautiful, toddling daughter.

I work from 7:30am - 6:30pm most weekdays so my gaming time comes at a late evening from around 10pm - 12am.

It means that I have to grab opportunities whilst I can. As a result, I play Skyrim, Third Age: Total War, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare or Crusader Kings II most times...these are games with immense longevity and so, considering I have a very powerful, self-built rig PC, I'll probably never play many more games on it!

Skyrim did not ruin other games for me. Skyrim did ruin Skyrim for me, however, since it's the most bug-ridden game I've ever played. I've recently been replaying some of my old PS2 RPGs, and even though they're not as vast as this game, it's nice to be able to play a video game from start to finish and not worry about something going tits-up because it wasn't programmed properly.

You have obviously never played Fallout New Vegas.

I beat Dark Souls the day before Skyrim came out last year. They are different, but both great games.

After I played Ultima Online / EverQuest I had trouble going back to "more simple" games, but do not have that problem anymore. I like games with good storylines often over gampley. Sometimes I prefer simple these days.

The first Neverwinter Nights was like this, then they ruined it.

I think Skyrim ruined all other RPG games for me, not particularly all games. I keep comparing every RPG to Skyrim and if one feature is not equal or better, I totally pass it up. Batman Arkham City is an amazing game, don't let it sit for too long. :)

Skryim was the first open-world RPG I'd played, so being able to walk to an area as far as the eye could see was exhilarating. That, coupled with Skyrim's flexibility to make whatever character you want, get any equipment, do any quest, really impressed me.

I can still enjoy other games, but they feel smaller than they used to.

Skyrim was the first open world RPG I ever played, and I found it after an underlying quest through all my not-so-long gaming life for exactly what Skyrim delivers. It blew me away and I love it... but I've played it for at least a year, and while it's made many other games feel small, it is also beginning to feel smaller itself. But, I still have loads of fun playing it. Due to the time I've played it, I can play it less and not die of boredom or withdrawals.

I like how trolls emerge complaining about the buggy-ness of skyrim. This thread is, or so i thought, about how much we all love skyrim and are constantly using TES as the benchmark for other games we've played. I didn't realize this was a thread to whine about bugs, glitches, etc. Oh well....silly me.
