I'm pretty new to PC and Steam, and one of the first games I bought was Skyrim.
I've played for about 11 hours now, then I took a break for a few days. I came back today and I noticed that the main menu was very laggy and slow, but it let me load up a save. However, when the game loaded I couldn't move or do any action but I could still hear game sounds. I have to bring up task manager to shut down the game.
I've tried a couple of different guides: validating game data, clearing the appcache, and clearing Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini files. So far no luck.
I thought it might be a corrupt save file, so I moved my saves to another file, deleted my saves on Skyrim, and rebooted the game. Also didn't work.
I tried reinstalling the game too, but that too didn't work.
[edit] I got an update to Skyrim and it works fine now
