Hi there. Sorry if this is posted on the wrong section of these forums.

I have been modding on and off for years now. And always at some point I get crashes. There was one playthrough one time I didn't.

However I decided to mod again and playthrough the game again because I got myself a new powerful rig.

It takes about 10 minutes and I get a freeze just running around Riverwood.

As annoying as crashes is when playing Skyrim I have a couple of rules for myself to try to avoid it but this time, it is like nothing helps.

1. Never ever remove or add any mods during a playthrough with a character. Technically you can add mods but I don't just to be on the safe side.

2. Stick to graphical mods as much as possible. I want to run as few scripted mods as possible.

3. I run mod organizers LOOT tool and it gives me fixed for things. So I cleaned the basic ESMs and got all the compability patches. Like Realistic Water Two requires some of them. Also the order of the plug-ins should be completely fine with LOOT handling them.

What are the reasons for crashes this early? It's on a completely new rig and install as well.

Riverwood is a "heavy" area. If you're on Oldrim I guess it could be the game using more memory than it's able to (nothing to do with how much VRAM you have). Sounds like you have a lot of graphical mods, so that could certainly be it.

I'm not experienced in analysing or investigating CTDs, so I don't know much beyond the basics.
