Lissette Direblade was born in Solitude as the only daughter to Rolgan Direblade, a 4th generation Nord Imperial soldier, and Aribeth Battle-Born Direblade, who was a daughter of Olfrid Battle-Born, the patron of the Battle-Born clan in Whiterun, who had run away from home and joined the Riften thieves guild when she was 15. Olfrid never found out what happened to her, and after scouring all of Skyrim to find her, he eventually gave up and presumed her dead. She was alive and well, though, but as one of the guild's best thieves with high sneak, lockpicking, and pickpocket skills, she was never seen by Olfrid, not even when she was in Whiterun in broad daylight completing a job for the guild, which she had done on numerous occasions. The couple met at the Winking Skeever in Solitude, where Aribeth had been assigned a fishing job and was about to pickpocket her assigned target, before Rolgan caught her eye sitting at the bar because he was both handsome and wearing the armor of an Imperial Legionnaire, and was also depressed and drinking heavily because his younger brother, who had also been his only living family member, had recently been killed in action by the Stormcloaks, as were both his parents before that. It was almost love at first sight for them both, and Olfrid gave his blessing for them to be married immediately for two reasons. One, he was immensely grateful to Rolgan for finding his daughter alive and well. And two, as a soldier of the Imperials, whom the Battle-Borns were loyal to, he believed that the relationship would draw Aribeth away from Riften, a city who supported the stormcloaks, and he was correct; after marrying Rolgan, Aribeth abandoned her profession as a thief, becoming a housewife in Solitude, and never set foot in Riften again. After Lissette was born, growing up she once asked her father about her paternal grandparents and her uncle whom she had never met, and all he said was, "You would have loved to meet them. They were all Imperial Legionnaires, like myself, but they were killed in action by the stormcloaks before you were born," and he broke down into a hysterical fit of tears. As a result, Lissette developed a hatred for the stormcloaks at an early age, and wanted to join the Imperial legion when she grew up. This hatred was only compounded after her father, too, was killed in action by the stormcloaks when she was 12. Lissette's mother subsequently finished raising her, and also taught her the thieving skills she had learned, although Lissette chose not to use these skills, and kept them a secret while she was being trained as an Imperial Legionnaire. She chose to specialize in wielding a greatsword as her weapon, and wear light armor. Lissette would not use the standard issue equipment of the legion. She also developed skills as an alchemist, an enchanter, and a blacksmith, and created, improved, and enchanted her own custom gear. Her glass greatsword is enchanted with cold damage and health drain. Her glass helmet is enchanted with waterbreathing and fortify lockpicking. Her glass boots have stamina regeneration and fortify 2 handed. Her glass gauntlets have fortify light armor and fortify 2 handed. Her glass armor has fortify light armor and health regeneration. Her necklace has fire and shock resistance. Finally, her ring has poison and magic resistance. She faught in the Imperial legion for about a year after completing her training, and during a maneuver, Lissette and her squadron had gotten surrounded and hopelessly outnumbered by a well organized force of stormcloaks including archers and swordsmen. They all knew that fighting back or resisting would be suicide, so they all threw down their weapons and were imprisoned as prisoners of war in Fort Amol. Lissette's well-developed thieving skills were completely unknown to the stormcloak captors, an ignorance which proved very fatal for them. After being locked in her cell, Lissette smoothly pickpocketed the cell key from the guard. After the guard left, thinking all the prisoners were locked up tight, Lissette unlocked the door of her cell, much to the amazement of all her fellow prisoners. She silenced their awestruck pleas to release them as well by saying, "Be patient! I have the skills of a member of the Riften thieves guild. I'm going to stick to the shadows and case this joint and figure out a way to bust us all out of here! Trust me, I can do it, just watch me!" Hidden in sneak mode, Lissette saw and overheard four stormcloak prison guards practically drooling over the immense quality and enchantments on her custom-made gear they had confiscated from her in the fort's armory. Ultimately, a brawl ensued between the four guards over her equipment before their superior officer intervened by yelling, "Okay, break it up, now, all of you!! None of you will get any of it! It is all going to go to the personal armory of Jarl Ulfric! And just for acting like a bunch of 9 year old boys fighting over a wooden sword, you are all confined to your quarters for 3 days!" After they locked the door to the armory and left, Lissette picked the lock, equipped herself with her gear, and raided the armory taking enough armor and weapons to bring back to the prison and equip her fellow prisoners, and then locked the armory door behind her. She snuck back to the prison with the gear she took, and after she released her fellow prisoners from their cells and distributed the gear to them, and after they were fully armed and armored, they made short work of all the occupying stormcloak soldiers. Lissette told her now armed comrades to stay there and hold the fort, and she would go back to Solitude and tell General Tullius to send reinforcements to finish garrisoning the fort. When she returned, General Tullius was very impressed with what happened, and promoted Lissette to the rank of Praefect for what she had done for the cause. He also had a very heavy heart and informed Lissette that her mother, Aribeth, was dead. He mistakenly believed that their squadron had been killed by the stormcloaks and didn't know they were only captured and were being held prisoner. When General Tullius falsely informed Aribeth that Lissette had been killed in action, Aribeth screamed, "NOOOOO!!! It was bad enough I was living without Rolgan, my one true love! I absolutely cannot live without my daughter! I'm sorry, General Tullius, but I must go to Sovngarde and be with both of them!" And she slashed her own throat with her ebony dagger. In a mixture of grief and immense rage toward the stormcloaks, Lissette went to her mother's grave in the hall of the dead, and vowed to her that as long as her body drew breath, she would fight for the Imperials until the day her sword found the neck of Jarl Ulfric Stormcloak.
