Maybe in the next elder scrolls we could have the opportunity to go back in time to different periods in tamriels history (e.g the oblivian crisis or the great war) but could that be too unlore-friendly?

I've imagined going back to see what Aylied civilization looked like, and of course the Dwemer. I also believe that if you went back in time, you'd be stuck in that timeline- that alternate history. Yeah, the potential is there to obliterate established lore, so it probably wouldn't work. But if one could watch rich, detailed visions of the past in order to seek answers that would help in the present... seems one would need an Elder Scroll. I'm sure the developers are simply dieing to bring ancient Aylied, Dwemer, and even ancient Nordic civilizations to life, and that would be the way to do it. Unless the made a game which actually took place in the ancient past...

I'd love a game in the way past of it all :) The future not so much, well far future. I think it would lose it's medieval charm.

I have returned to answer the question posed by this thread that I started over three years ago.
And the answer is: YES.

My prediction is this: In Elderscrolls VI, we will be further fleshing out the lore of Tiber Septim. Much of the story line of Skyrim deals with the Ninth Divine. A war is fought over the right to his worship; the Thalmor carry on the process of removing Talos from the very mythic of Tamriel. A book was introduced, "The Arcturian Heresy," which details an accounting of the rise of Tiber Septim which differs from the standard story fostered by the Empire. You should certainly read it if you haven't; it's content supported by the quest given by a ghost in Old Hroldan who claims to have fought beside Tiber Septim, who was then known as Hjalti Earlybeard, and even believes our character to be him. The "Heresy" also claims that Hjalti is from High Rock, which is why it seems likely to me that TES VI will occur there, at least partly.

Even if the game's setting isn't High Rock, I still believe much of the game's plot and lore will revolve around the fleshing out of one of TES's most interesting entities: Talos. Skyrim set the stage for this perfectly.

Do you agree? Have you read "The Arcturian Heresy?" Do you have a different idea for what TES VI will entail, that has been foreshadowed in Skyrim?
