I like playing stealthy characters but I want a bit of a change from my archer/summoner/ assassin build. I was thinking more the lines of what I assume would be considered something like a spellsword.

Skyrim Perk Calculator - Plan the perks for your Skyrim character before spending them!

that's my idea of a build for 1. I know most people say I don't need 5/5 in sneak but I find it fun even if it is overkill.

destruction for range and dragons cause It'd be pretty difficult to fight dragons with daggers.

illusion for the fun of making people kill each other and to break up packs if I get overwhelmed and silent casting.

Any suggestions on this? and also I plan on joining the thieves guild early on to get the skeleton key but i know without either pick-pocketing or lock-picking it could be difficult, has anyone still gotten the key without either of those skills?

Welcome to the forums! I have played a character similar to what you are laying out in the Perk calculator.

I will say Sneak 5/5 is absolutely silly, especially since you are taking Illusion. You don't need any more than 1/5. If you want to have 5/5, just get one piece of 20% enchanted sneak gear instead of wasting 4 perks.

With Illusion, you can Muffle and Invisibility yourself through the whole game. You probably won't be taking so much damage to your armor skill, making it level up slowly. Since you aren't taking Smithing, you probably won't have a Matching Set of armor, so you can drop that perk.

I don't think the weapon specialization perks are worth anything. The Bladesman critical damage is calculated from the base damage of a weapon and doesn't take into account any improvements, perks, or enchantments. That means a Steel Sword gets a 20% chance to do 5 more damage (average 1 more damage per swing), or Daedric gets a 20% chance to do 10 more damage (average 2 more damage per swing), no matter what your weapon damage is, for a high price of 3 perks.

I noticed you are taking Destruction Dual Casting but not Impact? Dual casting is inefficient for magicka consumption/damage compared to single casting, people usually only use it for Impact.

With Illusion, you need Dual Casting, because it affects the level of the enemy your spells work on. Instead of calming up to level 9, you can calm up to level 20 dual cast. With proper perks, your basic Calm spell will work on enemies up to level 27, and dual cast will hit up to level 59 enemies. Similar situations with Fury/Fear.

You can do the Thieves Guild with Lockpicking and Pickpocket at the base 15 skill level. You don't need to take any perks or spend any time leveling them up, some things may be easier, but it isn't required.

At the end of the day, take the perks you want, and use the skills you want. Skyrim is one-player, and pretty much everything you do can work, so have fun!

Thanks for the advice, ill drop 4 perks off of sneak and the 3 perks off of bladesman. I as a little confused were you saying i should use dual casting and impact on destruction or drop off dual casting? and ill add the dual casting on illusion. :)
