Is that fur coming out of your ears?
Sadly, my 7 years playing World of Chorecraft conditioned me to play a "main" through content, blazing a trail for whatever alts I create later on.

My level 42 main in Skyrim is now :

1) Leader of the Companions
2) Ruler of the Dark Brotherhood
3) Arch Mage of Winterhold
3) Thane of 3 cities with fully stocked homes in each one
4) Happily married to the Huntress
5) Done with the main questline

I have no interest in the Thieves Guild, so now what? I have 3 alts waiting in the wings for different playstyles, but the idea of repeating all those quests sounds more like a chore than fun.

I really want to keep playing the game because I love it! Any suggestions from here on out?

Thanks folks.

Roleplay, or take part in our community questing board. People write little quests for you to complete. You can actually do them in game. It's fun!

There are several threads about this topic already. Lots of ideas have been posted, so you could probably find something to interest you.

Those quests sound interesting, thanks for the idea!

Also, I'm considering buying Dawnguard next month and I hope that will keep me occupied. Since my character is basically the Lawful Evil type, it should fit her persona well enough.

There are quite a few quest mods available that give you new locations to explore. I enjoyed Moonpath To Elseweyr and I'm going to try out Sea of Ghosts soon. Although I haven't yet tried them, I've seen several immersion mods that sound like they would make the game more challenging (such as Sands of Time and Frostfall - Hypothermia Camping Survival).

I've just created a new character using Alternate Start - Live Another Life. I now own a small farm near Dragon's Bridge and I'm playing it with some self-enforced restrictions (no speed-leveling by smithing iron daggers, no using the console to give myself items, no fast-traveling, etc).

Try to find every location? Collect Daedric Artifacts, collect Dragon Priest masks, become a Dwemer researcher, become thane of all holds and own all houses, complete the civil war, collect unique weapons, unique beverages, bugs in a jar, stockpile your houses full of awesome dead thrall corpses, collect all the Shouts, I don't really know.

You aren't supposed to play Skyrim to try to "beat" it. If doing quests sounds like a chore to you, you probably aren't roleplaying it. You should slow down, no fast traveling, you'll run into a lot of random scripted events that way, and find lots of new locations walking everywhere.

Where does one find said community questing board?

Sent using my thumbs.

I was pondering the bards, but a friend of mine who turned me on to Skyrim in the first place dissuaded me but with no specific reasons why he thought I'd hate it.

Perhaps I'll give it a test drive.

he also suggested I go back to the Dawnstar museum curator because after jumping through a few hoops, I'd be sent to a daedric shrine...I did those to death in Morrowind ages ago, but have yet to locate any on my Skyrim adventures.

the trouble with the Bard`s College is that there are no continuing radiant quests like for the Companions or DB. The story lines aren`t truly compelling (go and get) but completing them still worth the time spent.

There are no fewer than 14 daedric quests, each one rewards a powerful artifact.

If you haven't done even one yet, you haven't explored very much! They encompass some of the more compelling stand-alone quests in the game. I'd highly recommend them!

I'd also recommend you do do the Thieves Guild quests. It's not strictly for the stealthy, and the story with Nocturnal and Mercer Fray is one of the better quest lines in the game.

The dlc if you don't have it, may i just say though that the thieves guild story is epic

And again I ask, what is the community questing board that was mentioned and where can I find it? Is this a PC exclusive?

I am on 360

Wow...now I feel really, really stupid.

Upon researching the daedric quests, it turns out I have in fact completed FOUR of them. Doh!

Somehow my Morrowind experience all those years ago had me thinking what I had already done somehow weren't technically "daedric quests."

What also bugs me is that at least three of the other locations are places I was exploring almost dead on the exact spot but somehow missed the quests in each of them...

Damn you Warcraft for conditioning me to expect bright yellow exclamation points over a dudes head, lol.

Looks like me and Shadowmere have some road trips ahead of us now!

Try roleplaying an explorer or hunter. Don't do any main or side quests. Just free roam and live a normal life in Skyrim. Get married, have kids and support your family (Heartfire DLC). I have had the most fun playing a hunter in Skyrim. I do nothing but hunt, sell the meat and do odd jobs. Have fun.

I say start a new character and only join 1 guild. Jack of all trade characters tend to blow through the finer parts of using skills for that guild, etc... Skyrim tries to hook you into doing every guild, but once I realized the results, I ignore doing the remaining conflicting guild quests.

Give roleplaying a try. Make a new char with a backstory and personality. If you have a good imagination, try developing him as you go along. Don't do things that seem out of charcter and try expert and master mode.

EDIT: One more thing. This sounds extreme, but you have no idea how much this helps in RP. Limit your carry weight to about 100-125. Make making money waaay more rewarding.

In all seriousness, mods are a great way to go; they add a lot of fun new content to the game, but they can occasionally cause problems. If you're a console gamer, try and become a thane of all the holds. If all else fails you can always start a new character.
