What? Oh. Goodby
I always doubt between Markarth and Whiterun. I know Markarth is corrupt as hell, but Whiterun has his downfalls as well, and there are some very irratating characters wandering around in Whiterun. What about that guy who always says: 'Do you come in the cloud discrict often" or "Have you tried mercenary work? It might suit you". And what about Heimrks or whats his name. That guy always gets on my nerves when i'm on my way to Jorvaskr or Dragonreach.

I like to stand outside the door to Vlindral Hall and look out over the mountains in Markarth. Its actually one of my favorite spots (literally) in the game. Also to wander out in front of the temple of Dibella there and watch the waterfalls over the stoneworks. Markarth itself is such a beautiful city. I love calling it home

Whiterun as a town is a nice bright and airy location, but yes it's full of anoying chatty people. Adrianna and Arcadia never shut up when you're using their stuff. and those annoying kids running around. and the house you buy in Whiterun is a plopshole.

Riften is my fave town, because even though there's a lot shady types, its got a lot of diversity to it. There are humans, dark elves and argonians all working in the square alongside eachother (unlike Windhelm - yeah, lets all camp outside this town full of racists who hate outsiders, instead of heading somewhere more tolerant) And when you do the bible bashing mission for the Temple of Mara - I like all the different reactions you get from people!

I love walking towards Whiterun coming from the west. Seeing Dragonsreach in the distance, particularly at night, is as close as I'll ever get to walking towards Edoras. Sit close enough to the big screen and the effect is even more so!
Since the time I purchased Breezhome, I've always considered Whiterun my characters home.

I guess it depends on the mood I am in. If I stay at one place for too long it's good to travel to a different part of Skyrim. I actually find myself missing the dungeons if I haven't done a dungeon quest for a while. But if I have to say a favourite spot, it has to be Whiterun and the area around the city. It just has a great feel to it. The nature also reminds me alot of where I am from. Well, most of Skyrim does anyhow. But Whiterun especially.

Currently for my Redguards playthrough I'm actually starting to get attached to Fort Dawnguard and I might consider that as a home base, but I'm not sure until I get through Hearthfire which I have yet to see.

Previously I've been located Whiterun for other characters,

I love Blackreach. The only people I have a problem wit are the Falmer (only because they attack me...) and a fireball to their faces normally fixes that. I really wish I could live in that huge palace there... -_- Makes me sad I can't. But aside from the Flamer, there are no annoying NPCs, the castle is huge, no dragon attacks (Do not hit the chandelier!), and the scenery is gorgeous. But since I can't own my dream home... My second favorite place would have to be Markarth. I have a weakness for waterfalls around my home.

I liked Blackreach but was disappointed that I couldn't eat/harvest some of those giant glowing shrooms. I wanted more from the shrooms!

i love the area around the college of Winterhold. It is so fun to just walk around the arctic over there.

Also, I love Ivarsted. it was one of my favorite memories of my first playthrough when i first went to see the greybeards

I kind of like Whiterun. I like to "hunt" (bandits, Thalmor, skooma dealers, etc.) in the area between the Western Watchtower and the Sleeping Tree, up to Hamvir's Rest. My stomping grounds, so to speak.

If you've invested yet, there's another reason to like Riverwood. I still need two perks to investor, but the gf invested in Riverwood Trader and now he's got like 10,000 gold on him at any given time. :)

I'd say Riverwood would have to be my favourite place to be, when I'm roleplaying I like to act as though it was my characters home village, and I personally think it feels very fitting for such a role (even if people talk to you as if you've never been there before).

I like Riverwood, Rorikstead, Whiterun, Falkreath, Riften and the Archmage's Quarters.

It's hard not to see Whiterun as a homebase, but my current character, a female Redguard adventurer/refugee who stuck up a friendship with Feandal, and since I've decided to hold off on buying Breezehome for this character, she keeps navigating back to Riverwood. When a dragon attacked I lured it out of the town to battle it so it wouldn't kill anyone (in past games, Alvor the Blacksmith or his wife have been killed), so I can say I'm fairly partial to the place.

I like Riften a lot too because you can make so many friends there, my favorite follower (Marcurio) is there, you can largely avoid the really annoying people, the Khajiit caravan goes there, Honeyside is pretty nice (although the mannequins are glitchy) and it has that whole on-the-waterfront vibe, although in real life, a place like that would stink to high hell of fish and mildew.

I like Whiterun, because it feels like the safest city. It's always so bright and happy, and even when it's dark, there's always lighted buildings and people walking about.

Riften makes me uneasy and lonesome.

Riften is excellent...seems the most alive to me. Still finding quests there after all this playtime.
