Before I start on the Thieve's Guild quests

Is that fur coming out of your ears?
My character just finished the Dark Brotherhood quest line and numerous other kills beyond that.

She is a plate armored, she-bull in the china shop who enjoys walking up to nobles in the Jarl's presence and dicing them to bits, paying her bounty, and cackling hysterically all the way back to mother's crypt!

The only thing "stealthy" about her is her breath.

So I'm wondering, before I go getting too deep into the Thieve's quest line, will my chainsaw personality (think "Blood for the Blood God" here), make those quests overly painful or difficult?

I'd hate to start having fun, only to get Morrowind type quests where getting caught = hating the experience.

Thanks all.

You're free to have a completely non-immersive experience doing the Thieves Guild quest line with the stealth of an elephant blowing into a bagpipes while dragging a chain of church bells. Although you're always given instructions that allow you to use stealth strategy and you can do most of the quest line without killing anyone or anything, it's not required.

You can complete any quest line as any class, but you may feel out of place. If theme or lore is not a problem for you, then by all means, go right ahead! :)

3 words: Muffle Enchantment Boots.

That will make your heavy armor as silent as wearing clothes.

Now it is still heavy, but at least, it is not making noise anymore, so you can sneak. Now the eyesight detection can be solve with Invisibility Spells or Potions, or your own skill as a player.

But as Dagmar and 123 said, you can complete the Thieves Guild Questline without being stealthy. It is just harder.

Even after casting those extended invisibility potions, this girl gets caught farting while picking locks these days.

Maybe I'll bypass the thievery and go pay a visit to Winterhold and annoy some mages there in that quest chain. Once I get Dawnguard next month, I wouldn't mind getting acquainted with some alteration spells, and I was told the Mage Guild has cool housing if I pursue the quests far enough?

Hmmmm....

Not unless you complete the quest line. Otherwise you get a room with a bed. You can use the furniture to store items but the rest of the containers in your room will respawn. Also some players have reported that under certain circumstances the other students and even instructors may take them.

Stealth detection is based on 2 factor: Eyesight and Noise.

No noise and disappear from sight and you will be as good as any full time assassin, even walking around in full Heavy armor.

now, DON'T FART, it adds a 3rd dimension to the detection: smell :D

Ever heard a beefy Nord chick pass wind in daedric plate?

That earlier reference to elephants, bagpipes & church bells is uncannily accurate! :p

That must echo a great deal.... not to mention the smell that would seep very very slowly out...

Cheese wheels & Mead, add 4 hours on Shadowmere's saddle, and quite often a sword need never be drawn to kill the next target!
