I need help with killing, *SURPRISE!* Malkoran.

I play with heavy armor, shield, one handers and healing. Palalaladin to the max.

I'm only level 17, and I cannot defeat this guy, i've tried everything. Should I wait to a higher level?
Or has someone done it with a similar skillset that could give me tips.
Even shouting him around doesn't seem to work. He just gets back up and 1 hits me

If you're not well outfitted offensively, it never hurts to live to fight another day. I ran into this in early days with regards to giants. When I got to level 40 I was able to kill them with a single bow shot.

I've gone off levelling somewhere else. The rest of the dungeon is cleared so I can come back, but after 20 something deaths, I figure I need to be tougher.
I'l come back when my shields block frost!

Go get the Wabbajack.

Save before entering the area with Malkoran.

As soon as the fight starts, cast Wabbajack and see what he turns into. Big chances that the new creature is easier to kill for you.

Wabbajack is probably the easiest way, but if you get yourself any old crappy bow and arrows (I'm sure you find plenty held by enemies on dungeon crawls), you can sneak-shoot him, then run away (sneaking) a good distance until they stop looking for you, then come back and do it again. It might take you a hundred hits but you'll kill him eventually. You can do the same thing on the Shades. This is how I killed him, I never even knew he had a reputation for being hard to kill! I don't remember if he has restoration spells; if he does, you will have to practice some alchemy and make some damage magicka regeneration poisons, and try to make your shots quick enough to fit into the time limit of the poisons (e.g. if the poison lasts for 20 seconds you should try to shoot him about every 20 seconds with a new poison). Ingredients with this effect are reasonably common, maybe the easiest is blue mountain flower and chicken eggs, but also blue butterfly wing, or nightshade instead of chicken eggs.

Sneaking is so hard in heavy armor, I'm a few levels higher now, and I could probably do it a bit easier with a few upgrades I now have, as well as a few more shouts. But the wabbajack looks the way to go.
So I'll get that, but I really want to beat him down in my characters style. :D I'll just conjure stuff everywhere otherwise.
