Hello I'm new to this site, I know it's not the place to introduce myself, but I just really wanted to start a topic. I've been searching for a place that has an active community dedicated to Skyrim until I saw this which looks promising.

Anyway, I find so many people from different sites who seem to care more about their fellow gamers and the mods they put in Skyrim than what they are actually using. Is it really that bad of a deal to drive away Skyrim's lore and replace it with stuff that doesn't relate to anything Skyrim? I felt that the game didn't really capture the fantasy feel that I had back in oblivion. it felt as though Skyrim tries too much on making the game look too real.

To be honest, I didn't play that much, I spent more time fixing my character's face and trying out new mods. It's enough for me to judge the game as I could not continue to play it without modding, not one bit. I spent many months on just trying out mods, my character is now level 11 and my latest quest is to bring back a family heirloom of some guy in Whiterun.

Do any of you also spend too much time on creating your character and less time actual playing?

Do you feel that If you didn't get everything right the way you wanted at the start, you cant continue on playing?

Here is my character if you're curious on what I did and to get an Idea on what i might be doing to the rest of Skyrim...I tend to get a lot of haters when I post my pics so...

I don't particularly like it but to each his own. According to Skyrim quantum physics each playthrough is an alternate universe, so what I or anyone else may not like much in Skyrim is perfectly fine for you to do. :p

The Oblivion modding community was ruined by anime mods. We don't need it here.

Ugh. I really just dislike seeing mods like that, yet it shouldn't matter to me because I have the 360 version. Skyrim/Elder Scrolls isn't supposed to be anime-like, or whatever. Do what you want, it's your game, but ...I just hate seeing stuff like that, sorry. I guess it's weird that I'm happy with what my character (a Dark Elf) looks like and I don't feel the need to alter her, or that the fact that I really can't doesn't prevent me from playing the game. I didn't want to play the game because of how the characters looked, I wanted to play because of the actual gameplay. That's what matters to me in the end.

What you posted doesn't look bad, it just doesn't look like it belongs in the ES universe...if you're looking to play something with more of an anime style, there's plenty of other games like that. I don't see the need to convert Skyrim to look like something it's not intended to look like.

Stuff like this reminds me of a tumblr blog I follow, though I guess they haven't updated recently: Reasons I Hate Skyrim

Just in time for the fiyahworks show! BOOM!
It's your game, play it how you want to. But, I think these type of things are best reserved for Final Fantasy games. Just sayin'.

It's not like "If you don't like the anime mods, don't download them." It would be if anime mods were the minority, but they aren't. 90 percent of the Oblivion mods are anime.

I agree with them, it made a mess on oblivion nexus to the point i wished that Steam made a workshop for oblivion mods. Skyrim is getting to that point though

There are plenty of anime inspired games out there. Personally I play Skyrim to kill dragons, cast magic, swing swords, etc. Not run around in a school girl outfit with dyed hair. But it is your game, play it the way you want to, as others have said. I'll stick with Skyrim as is.

Anime mods out number the normal ones, but how does this even affect the modding community. It is not a war where modders are forced to choose sides. People make mods depending on what they desire. It just turned out that they want more Anime in their game. Even if Anime mods are the most common, the regular mods are no way in short supply. Somtimes I feel that people drive away Anime mods just because it has been a common practice or a bandwagon thing. In my opinion It's kind of like how people treat Nintendo consoles as being a stuff for kids and the big boys go to the xbox or ps3. It is probably influenced more by culture. Pardon my horrible writing because it is a pain in the Az to type this using a tiny phone.

I like it what mods did you use? Are you sharing them!?

Also for all the weak sauce nerds who hate it cause , you know anime... makes you more girly than you already are! Lmfao ... if you dont get your daily dose of being a man in the real world. You got a real problem.

Cute ass charachters, with blood splatter and going on killing sprees now thats sic... i get my daily fill of the latter. Besides... each of you probably got female charachters staring at pixelated butts on the daily!

I like anime, and have used some anime style things in Oblivion that I thought fit the atmosphere (no guns or modern clothes for example). Oblivion always gave me a slightly "cartooney" vibe that Skyrim doesn't, so many of the mods I adored in Oblivion just seem out of place when ported to Skyrim.

I like your character a lot, but my tendency with a character like that would be to give realistic hair color and less makeup because then she'd just look like a pretty Asian girl instead of an anime character.

As for what other people do in their games, meh, it's not my game so it's not my place to criticize I suppose. What gets on my nerves are when I want to browse screenshots and I have no way to filter out the stuff I don't like. It's why I don't browse other people's shots much.

Wow.

Hard topic for me as I don't like Anime anyway, but in all honesty I would have never bought Skyrim had it been Anime inspired graphics. The realism is what makes this game so incredible, it's what drew me in as a person who's life got too busy for games. I don't regret a second of it.

Like many have said, if that's what you're into, go for it as I'm sure there's mods out there, but the idea of Skyrim starting off as Anime is really hard for me to stomach and I'm so glad they didn't.

No. No. No. No. No no no. NO! I happen to be a massive anime fan, I like anime style games. However there are some places things like that DO NOT belong, and Skyrim is one of them. If you like it, good for you, but Skyrim is really special and one of the reasons (the main reason being the awesome gameplay, of course) is the look and feel. In my opinion, all the little things Skyrim has going work together to create a truly awesome experience, and I think messing with even one of those things could really ruin it. But that's just me.

Welcome to the Forums!!

Anyway, I think a Skyrim Anime would be awesome, I don't really watch anime but if it was an Afro Samurai/Boondocks animation style i'd be hooked.

I thought this was about anime set in the skyrim universe. I would watch that, But the style just doesn't fit gameplay wise, liek at all. so yeah it appears that mods like that are no-no

You can do whatever fills your twinkie I suppose, but I would never use anime mods. Similarly with skimpy armor, I just feel like it's completely out of place.

I find this entire argument a bit strange if I'm honest. Personally I have no interest in anime. Similarly I have a real issue with hyper-sexualised female characters and skimpy armour. So if I see a game that by default includes those things I won't buy it.

Having said that, if people want to create and install mods that give their games an anime look or has their dovakiin looking like a glamour model, fine. I'm not being forced to include that content in my game, I don't see the point in getting worked up over it. All I have to do is scroll past and not install that particular mod into my game. Yes it can be annoying having to trawl through tonnes of anime themed mods but surely that isn't reason enough to get upset over it.

At the end of the day people are going to like different things to others. That's okay. That's life. We're allowed to enjoy our video games the way we want to. If that means someone wants to have anime style characters then that's okay. As long as no one is forcing me to adopt that aesthetic I couldn't care less.
