Regarding 3rd person, I personally find it takes away from immersion. In reality, you don't get a 3rd person view. I never use it for that reason alone.

I still don't have a problem with archers, though. You just need to keep your head on a swivel instead.

I use 3rd person because i like to see my character in action. But for archers i would suggest using destruction spells against them.

as i mentioned tbh i really don't actually get "killed" by them much its just that i get sooooooo damn sick of constantly being hit by arrows, its irritating as hell and basically just unrealistic, lets face it, when your character is walking around kicking ass with an arrow sticking out of his/her skull its... fl*ffING STUPID! now i know its a videogame an all but to me this just takes a ton of fun out of playing it and it wouldn't be so bad except... THEY NEVER MISS! anyone who says otherwise is lying, they don't even have to aim to hit you! just the other day i watched a forsworn shoot sideways, SIDEWAYS!!! the arrow went left and it STILL registered as a hit on me and yea, an arrow magically appeared in my freakin chest, THAT IS SO fl*ffING CHEAP! another time i actually watched a bandit who was miles away miss, no pl*ps MISS! but immediately "and i'm talkin less than a millisecond" he rapid fired another which ofcourse met its mark in my fl*ffing head, its like the game was compensating for its accidental malfunction of actually missing a shot, i've used a bow! you can't immediately fire another arrow! it takes atleast 2 to 3 seconds to charge another so thats bs! long story short, i hate looking like some kinda reject from the hellraiser movies with arrows sticking out of every oreface of my body after EVERY single battle! the fact that arrows take such little damage just forces the issue and pisses me off even more.. I HATE ARCHERS!!!!!

1. impossible, sorry but there's no way you can be more spot on than a computer program i don't care how much you practice, you're probally just not playing on master so you're not getting hit enough to actually die, trust me arrow damage is laughable on adept compared to master, so much that when i used to play on adept i didn't even worry about arrow fire cause it takes so much to kill you that unless i'm just standing there archers won't kill me. thats why you CAN be a walking pin cushion on adept and be just peachy. ;)
I only play on master difficulty setting.

It seems pretty clear that you know nothing about an open combat archer build and the effective selection and use of perks for one. My Archer can dodge arrows, fire faster, fire more accurately and do more damage than any group of archers that the game can generate. If you can't shoot down a herd of 5 deer/elk before they all run away, clip the wings off of a butterfly from a distance, or engage and kill multiple opponents in open combat without ever having to use anything but your bow then you simply have no idea what a good open combat archer build with the appropriate combat strategy can do.

Ya I'm not sure why you're having such difficulty. Archers on master difficulty will always do heavy damage, but I don't find them all that accurate. I can usually just stand there and fire arrows back, and I will kill them before they've hit me more than twice.

As for the freezing issue you mentioned, make sure you don't have too many saves, otherwise it will become unbearable. Another thing to try is clearing your Xbox cache.

I'm on apprentice, and I swear guards do 50 damage per arrow.

I'm starting to think you don't really want help. You've shot down every piece of advice you've been given, and are flat out calling us liars, because we're better at the game than you. My char is a much better archer than any npc in the game, I do more dmg, fire faster, and hit more consistently. The fact that you say NPC's never miss, tells me you have no idea how to dodge, and tbh even standing still archers miss me at least 30% of the time, which makes me think you're actually moving into the arrows as opposed to away. No one else here seems to have this problem, which tells me that YOU are the problem, not the game.

I thought I was good, until I realized that I can't clip the wings off of butterflies.

Sure you can, give it a go,,,,,, they go POOF! and explode in a cloud of dust like..... dust, Then you can go pick up each separate wing. Even from fifty feet out I find it easier than trying to snatch them out of the air. Mind you don't use your good arrows though..... They're great target practice, like hawks come to think of it, but sometimes they land up on the Solitude (I hunt them there, in Solitude) rooftops where you can't grab them, and if you pick em off from the upper level near the Emperar's Tower walkway you discover that well, they fly around just fine with an arrow (or six) sticking out of them. Glitch I guess. But I digress, Hawks are easy, their strikezone is much bigger than the butterfly's, too big in fact.

ShangTsung, it's time to try a completely different strategy. Go buck naked right into the a bandit camp with a hunting bow and some iron arrows. Make sure you jump up and down to cause a distraction with your junk. Leave no survivors, except hot chicks. Not enough of those in Skyrim, so be careful with them.

AND, probably a good idea to save prior to my idea, as there is a very small/meager chance this might not work, but I really wouldn't sweat it.

yea but.. i mean if thats the case just up your sneak, kinda defeats the idea of being invisible if you need cover to prevent being seen right?

But as soon as you're out of cover you'll be spotted, unless you are invisible. You can get really close without them knowing you're there, allowing for the x3 for the archery, x6 for the sword or x15 for the dagger. It's really the best way to get rid of high level archers, or any high level enemies really.

Also, so much for your NPC archer arrows never miss theory:
I could have killed these NPC archers much more quickly but I wanted to make a point of how easy it is to dodge their shots. Note (1) how the Forsworn archer isn't able to hit me even without my use of the Steady Hand perk at 0:12, and (2) how easy the Steady Hand perk makes it to dodge incoming arrows (see slow motion arrow in flight veer off to my right as I side step it with plenty of warning time at 0:24) and hit enemies in open combat.

The rate of fire while using Steady Hand is very fast because the draw time required to fire your shot is still running in real time even though the game is moving in slowed time. Add the Quick Draw perk and you can rain arrows down on your enemies. Add the Ranger perk for mobility and the bow bash stagger effect and you can control the range of combat even against charging melee fighters which is why my Archer never uses melee weapons.

You say archers being accurate is unrealistic?

You say archers being such quick shots is unrealistic?

If a skilled archer has you lined up in his sights then you can be sure you'll be getting 5 or 6 arrows coming straight at you in a matter of seconds. These guys aren't Stormtroopers, they are supposed to hit you if you're in range. The only unrealistic thing is that you can still keep fighting even after being hit.

What you are supposed to do if you don't want to get hit is to hit them first or take cover. At some level, you need to be able to outsmart your opponent, not just out-muscle them. In a real battle, this was also the case. No-one ever survived a battle by just charging at the enemy hoping they'd miss, because 9 times out of 10 they're going to hit you. It might happen in the movies, but in a real battle it's a great way to end up dead quick.

Dagmar,

I thought we were totally talking sh!t with killing butterflies, but now I'm sad. That poor little butterfly. Sure, you protect bunnies but not butterflies??? ;)

On a more serious note, my character is primarily an Archer but I never upgraded to "steady hand" as it makes it too easy. I kind of like the fast pace out of control fights.

I use a Crossbow, which I truly hated but forced myself to get comfortable with and now I'm an ace with it.

Seriously, I had no idea you could actually kill butterflies. :) What about tourchbugs?

the 2nd vid was cool as hell, even though there were only 2 archers with no melee freaks in your face, and no high ground shooters, that was nice.. i will definately try taking advantage of the slow time perk next time i'm ambushed.

i never said being accurate was unrealistic i said NEVER missing is unrealistic, homing arrows... UNREALISTIC. and you have to remember this game is supposed to take place in medievil times or even before then so they didn't exactely have the bows shown in the vid or the perfectly balanced arrows, anyways i'm just a disgruntled gamer, stop taking me so seriously.. :beermug:
