Hand to hand, sword play, mage battles, ect i'm the shiz and rarely ever even take a hit.. but those fl*ffin robin hood bastards omfg... is there ANY defense against multiple archers that works??? i've got the perk that allows me to block arrows with my shield but against 2 or 3 the perk is basically useless, and AI archers especially bandits NEVER miss, its like there arrows have homing capabilities.. is there any stratagy other than taking cover and trying to pop shot them with spells that works??? cause once they flank you're screwed.. any advice/help would be appreciated.

Just ignore the arrows and slaughter them, they do barely any damage.

I know the feeling, when you play on Master arrows seem to do insane damage. The best advise I could give you is to constantly move from left to right as you are targeting the archers. I takes a lot of practice but it pays off when you can make a shot when being mobile. Other than that, know a good healing spell. :D

If you can, hit them with the ice form shout and slash the crap out of them before they get back up :)

I just watch and wait for them to shoot, then dodge the arrow and move forward while they draw their next arrow, repeat as necessary until I'm close enough to slaughter them.

shouts are useless, i've tried that, they're always too far away, or you hit one or two and there's still one or two further off still arrowing the crap out of you but now you're wide open.. and even if you nail them all you're not going to kill them all before they recover AND it only works once.

Bring your own bow, be better with it than they are. You can summon one, or carry one, either way arrows weight nothing.

nonsense, there's no way to be as good a shot as AI, they're programmed to auto target and hit you EVERYtime.. and even if you could it wouldn't matter anyway as they have numbers on there side.

Actually their aim depends on the distance between you. They have a tough go of hitting you if you are further away, that goes double if you are further and higher than them, such as up on a cliff or mountainside. Also when I said "be better than them," I'm suggesting putting a few points into archery and getting the 50% slow time perk. I use this more that anything. With time slowed down dodging arrows is much, much easier. With the quick shot stagger perk on I can kill a fellow archer without them ever getting a shot off. Conjure something in their midst for multiple targets and pick them off whilst they battle.
Please note I have only played on master setting and carry nothing but the bow. Currently level 37, level 78 with the bow.

It was just a suggestion, but really, nothing like giving them a taste of their own medicine. You CAN be better than them. A fully perked out archer is..... deadly.

Oh, and to conjure from a distance without having the skills in conjuration for it, (I don't) you can play through Arniel's Endeavor missions in the Mage's college.

*SPOILER*

And get the summon Arniel's shade spell, he's great for this as you can't hurt him with your weapons as far as I've tested. Arrows go right through him to their intended target.

Then again, deal with archers any way you see fit.

oh i'm on master too, and archers are the ONLY thing that ever kills me, not trying to brag but i've damn near mastered sword play on this game, and mage battles are so easy they're almost boring once you get the AI mage pattern down, oh and yea, i've got the archer perks maxed out, the freeze time perk helps but you will still miss if they're far enough away and when you've got 2 to 3 robin hoods firing at you the archer perks are useless..

They don't hit every time. I've been missed plenty of times. Learn to move and you won't get hit as much. I've been through plenty of bandit camps with 3-4 archers without being hit, on master level.

If you find you are missing your target from a distance you might be aiming off.... I know that sounds obvious but I've done lot's of aim testing with different bow and arrow sets. A matched set will always shoot high, even higher with a great distance between you to the point where a chest aimed shot will sail a foot above their head. A mismatched set, glass / daadric for example seemed to shoot low and right. I always try to use matched sets so I can't elaborate on where to aim for other mismatches.

Maybe this is just on the PS3 but I suspect this is for realism and in every game. IRL bows and arrows are made for each other.

Also if you are strafing left or right when firing the arrow will not fly straight but go with your momentum.

Picking people off from a distance is my thing.

yea i've tried sidestepping left and right, its like there arrows home in on me, navy seal black ops snipers aren't this good of aim, omfg its irritating.. the ONLY thing i've found that occasionally works is to take cover and repeatedly conjure storm atronachs till they're all dead, may seem like a wussy tactic but its the only half assed useful stratagy that sometimes gets you out of a robin hood group attack alive.. it doesn't matter anyway cause my games been freezing so often its barely playable, and i'm playing on a BRAND NEW 360 with a BRAND NEW copy of the game! yea weird..

To elaborate on what I've learned from aim testing.... firing from third person is useless unless you're very close to you're target, it's just plain off.

Zig-zag advancement always works for me. I still take damage, but not enough to kill me. I let them chase me until I get one separated from the group then I attack. Never storm into a fight when you're out numbered. Try to lure some away from the pack to get their numbers down. That or shoot back with arrows or Firebolt. ;)

i wouldn't know, i never play in 3rd person view, can't imagine why anybody would..

You know, when I run into a pack of Archers I like summoning some type of Atronach. They buy you time as the AI seems to turn its attention to other AI. On Master they don't last long, but can be the difference between life and reloading. Just an idea.
