Well, in dark ages, our ancestors had knives made of bones, why not have them in a game world?. Bones can't be smelted, but they can be shaped. Dragons bones are rather large as well, I don't see a problem crafting a twohander out of them. Add some voodoo magic and voila!

Same could apply for arrows.

Those of you seeking reality - what's Ebony? Can you smelt it?

ebony on earth is a kind of wood, but tamriel is a fictional world so anything goes!

dinosaurs maybe had the same mass as a dragon on a scale (if alive roaming are planet. But then dragons are magical which means nothing has to represent the ways on planet earth.

Though I probably agree with newbie, I disapprove of the tone. It's a discussion my friend. Let's try to keep insults to ourselves. Just because someone else has a differing opinion does not make them ignorant, nor stupid. Sure, the draon bones could be a plausible craftable item. But I can also see how making a bone weapon would seem a bit of a stretch. That's not to say there are no other stretches in the game. By stating that having a rabbit that is naturally green is unlikely, presenting an arguement that "Because there are blue rabbits" does not make Green rabbits any less likely, no matter how possible in itself. So lets stay positive here people. We are all on a common ground :)

Aside from theoretically being strong enough for armor (talking about dragons here), bones really aren't malleable enough to be forged into a proper weapon. Maybe a spear if they had those in Skyrim, but....oh wait. Haha the armor is really just a suit with bones strapped on around it, simple enough to work into the game and a great RP aspect that works well with the story. Hard to bend reality far enough to make weapons out of bones though.
No but If those bones and scales can make impenetrable armor why cant it be GROUND DOWN into the shape of a sword???

You guys don't make any sense at all. You are telling me that dragon bone weapons wouldn't be as strong as iron but the dragon armor is the second best in terms of strength. You wouldn't forge it.

The other logic questions are retarded. The game isn't based on reality. When would you in reality upgrade a bow on a grindstone?

Dragon scales could be used to make leather for the handwraps, the bone could be a handle gaurd and the blade. Dragons are a magical and powerful beast that would not have normal bones so its strength would be immense. How else could the bones support the weight of a dragon 100 times bigger than a mammoth?

FYI ebony is not a metal. You guys can overlook the other escapes from the reality the game has done but not the effectiveness of dragon weapons. You guys are just nuts.

You are right about everything you just said. Dragon bones must be immensely strong to support what looks to be at least 25 tons. Those bones could be Ground into the shape of a sword. Native Americans Ground Deer leg bones into Arrow heads with rocks. Yes it can be done. As far as Scales being made into handles that could also be done but not in the form of leather. They are a little flexible so they would need an immense amount of HOT STEAM to make them flex. You could bend them into shape around what would become the handle of the sword.

Dragon weapons would make my day, and im not even on PC yet. What's it matter if ANYTHING is unrealistic in a world with talking two-legged cats and lizzards, dragons, elves, tree-monsters, zombies, vampires, werewolves, ect...

I, too, would LOVE to see dragon weapons.

Besides, some of the later dragons have enormous teeth and claws. Surely those could be crafted into some serious weapons.

And I for one have almost never seen the name quicksilver used as a liquid"

You would have to be able to read to see it used before.

Quicksilver is another name for mercury which is a fluidic metal. not a solid ingot.

Again, how unrealistic is it to have a bone weapon made from dragon bones that would be stronger than other weapons but lighter?

If realism is so important to you, then why don't you complain about how improving the quality of a bow on a grindstone, or making leather armor in a forge, or how all potions weigh .05 even if the ingredients are less than that or more than that. There is no reality about that, it was nothing more than convenience and practicality of game design/play.

Why argue against something that is coold. If all other branches of smithing have both weapons and armor why not dragon? That is all that I said and I get many responses that are based on ignorance and non logic claiming that it isn't realistic.

I realy think the majority of you young ignorant gamers should read a little more about history and science before commenting on realism.
I get what your saying. Its funny how people are trying to rationalize how practical weapons made of dragon bones are. The fact of the matter is they would be bad ass and I too wondered how come they are not in the game initially. I have skyrim on ps3 so if there was a mod then I would not be able to get it. A dlc would be awesome. Have a sharpened blade of dragon bone with a hilt made of dragon scales and silver. The quest for materials thing is a good idea, the only problem is I hate when I have to go through some epic adventure to get an epic weapon and by the time I get the weapon theres nothing cool left to use it on. Like I just fought all the cool monsters to get this weapon and when I finally get it they're all dead.

If you want to talk reality why not talk about Glass as armor and weapons. o_O Nothing like fighting a dragon with a beer bottle and wearing a window pain.

FYI, there is a new mod someone did for dragon weapons. Unfortunately, it is just orc weapons with a new shader. Not really bone like but at least someone made the attempt.

There is a reason........... You can't really make bones and scales into a metallic sword, but shapping them into armor is slightly more possible.

not to be rude Tesla, but the Forsworn weapons are bones-furs-stones, and are improved by STEEL(lol), so I do not see why dragon weapons are not possible.

And the unrealistic nature of a carrying weight. You can carry hundreds of thousands of gold coins, but a butterfly wing can tip you over your carry weight?

i think you could really deal some damage if you clubbed someone in the head with a dragon femur lol.

A mace with dragon teeth spikes for the flanges would be cool.

A war hammer that looked like a Dragon femur bone would be neat.
