Does anybody know if there is any new news about the release of Dawnguard on PS3 yet or is it still the same old stuff?
Same old stuff. As I mentioned in my post above, I do a weekly search for 'Skyrim PS3'
(I usually google news it.)

Bethesduh has created a record for the first company unable to create DLC that works on all platforms. They claim it's a frame-rate issue. Some say it's because it's because it's such a vast game. It's 2012!!! On Sept 7th, those morons actually had to have Sony come in and show them how to program it correctly. The PS3 is a powerful computer. There is no excuse.

Dose someone know Approximately when it will come out for the PS3?
They haven't given a release date yet. They are saying it might never even be released to PS3 which sucks majorly because they just can't get it right and to the standard they want.
I would also recommend to google "Dawnguard" in the news section, it can be helpful to be in the know. (;
Hope this helps.

Another non-update a few days ago about how there's "no new update". WHAT HAVE THEY BEEN DOING FOR THE PAST FOUR MONTHS?

They just don't want to set the world on fire.

To be honest, I'm getting sick of the excuses that keep getting made about the DLC issue with PS3. This is what...the third or fourth DLC coming out for XBox yet nothing for us PS3 gamers yet? I'm in the same boat with a lot of you. I've done everything and lost interest in replaying again and again. Meanwhile I get an email from IGN saying that another DLC is coming out for SURPRISE, XBOX!

It's a little hard to swallow I feel. They can't figure out the PS3 issue but they they have all this time to sit and make DLC after DLC to release for XBox. It's like they're truly focused on releasing all they can for Xbox (which leads me to really believe the rumours Microsoft bought their allegiance with an exclusive release rights contract). If they can't fix Dawnguard, fine, then they should make a DLC exclusive to PS3 that will run. We know they're capable. If they have time to make more DLCs to put out on XBOX they have time to do it for PS3.

A few free good will gestures from them about now wouldn't hurt (some armor/weapon packs...something simple). If they wait much longer it'll be a case of releasing a DLC that won't sell because we've moved on or we got so disheartened by all the constant spoilers on forum topics, gaming sites and youtube videos that we don't even really feel the need to play anymore (even trying to keep away from all the spoilers is impossible sometimes when your friends play the games including them).

Exactly. When Playstation Network went down for over a month they rewarded us with two free games. All you guys have heard so far are Todd's sweet little lies.

How bad exactly were these "bugs" that other PS3 users experienced? I haven't had one glitch, freeze issue, nada on mine since I started playing in Febuary. What is the glitch associated with the auto-save feature? Back on topic though, I'm real dang close to buying a 360 just to get the DLC, and I swore I'd never turn to the green side.

As a Nightingale, I'm born anew.
As much as I've always supported Bethesda, this is major disappointment. When I bought the Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition, July 2011, I expected to get ALL the DLC. Unfortunately Frostcrag Spire nor Dunbarrow Cave were included. I'm admittedly still butthurt about that whole deal. I know that it wasn't originally available for the Ps3 in the first place, but I still expected it to be available... I'm feeling the same feelings about this situation.

When and if Dawnguard comes out for the Ps3, it had better be free. As someone with little more to do than play Skyrim, this hurts my soul. I'm tired of Microsoft having to jump at every opportunity to get something first. They're like the older sibling who has to compensate for being second best by doing everything first.

I've seen a lot of discussion on how the first two DLCs (or rather, Dawnguard DLC and Hearthfire add-on) should be free for PS3 users if it comes out. I have to say I agree, even though I've moved on to playing Skyrim on PC.

Dawnguard came out on Xbox 360 on June 26th, and on August 2nd for PC. Even before finally stating that they were having issues with getting it on PS3, they should have known before releasing it that there were issues. They should have realized that roughly 1/3 of their gamers would be without DLC, which many of them would likely have willingly bought the first day possible.

This is just BS on Bethesda's part. They should have requested assistance earlier on.

Now... I'm not sure how much more powerful the new models of the consoles are compared to the original releases, but games and DLC need to run on every model, so with that in mind, it's a general rule that the PS3 is more powerful than the 360, I believe. Unfortunately, it does work... differently. However, I think I understand the issue with Dawnguard on DLC:

Dawnguard's issue is with the separate RAM on the PS3. According to this, the PS3 has the same amount of RAM as the Xbox 360, but half in the CPU and half in the GPU, with 50MB dedicated to the OS. The 360's RAM can be used in any way that developers want, yet the PS3 forces them to have to work around the RAM limitations, as the GPU can use the CPU's RAM, but not the other way around. Basically, the PS3 has little issue in handling graphics, but scripted/programmed things are different.

If Dawnguard's issues for PS3 are related to some such as a ceiling crumbling during a boss fight as someone mentioned, then Bethesda needs to somehow tell the console how to run the game normally while also telling it to do that on only about 256MB (half of 512MB, but remember that 50MB is used to run the PS3's OS). And they have to do this while keeping the game running in a playable way, and without lots of crashes.

So I think that's a more detailed explanation of the issue besides just "we're having issues with the RAM". It's mostly just an educated guess though.

But back to my focus on DLC pricing: Dawnguard came out back in the middle of summer; it's now becoming winter. PS3 players have waited a long time, a very long time. They are at no fault whatsoever; it is not their fault that they didn't get to play Dawnguard and Hearthfire because they are PS3 gamers. It is Bethesda's fault for not... whatever, either not having experienced programmers or for not asking Sony for help sooner.

Maybe Dawnguard and Hearthfire shouldn't be free for PS3 gamers, maybe not entirely. A sort of grace period where PS3 gamers could get it for free, like a week after release, and then keeping it discounted for a long time would be best. I can tell you right now that even if I was still stuck playing on PS3 that I would not pay a full 25 bucks for both DLCs.

Let me think.

There was the game-breaking lag until they fixed it, the huge file sizes, and, worst of all:

Slowmenuitis. It took forever to click on something in your inventory (etc.), and about a minute if you're giving something to your follower and they equip it. This ruined the late-game for me.

The game-breaking lag was never, well, game breaking for me. It was a bit laggy when going into a new area, like from Falkreath's forests to a snowy area, but nothing terrible. The 'slowmenuitis'... nehhhh, I've seen that with 360 as well. I've never seen it to that bad of an extent though, assuming you aren't grossly exaggerating.

Funnily enough, I actually consider the console/PS3 menu to be a bit better than the PC one, if only for the sake that it remembers the last category on both sides that you accessed and how far down the list you were with no issues. PC, you have to scroll each time, and sometimes on a menu the highlighted option will get stuck and fail to change no matter if you hover over another option or pick another with the WASD keys.

I do remember big file sizes though. I never really considered it much of an issue though.

Yeesh! I shall consider myself lucky for never having any issue with mine. That's horrible.

I don't blame you one bit. Like I said earlier, I'm real close to buying a 360...

I'd suggest getting it for PC if at all possible. Tally up the costs of both and if the price of upgrading your computer to play Skyrim is around 200 or less, do it. Mods n' stuff.

What I've found, though, is that the game on PC is a blessing and a curse. Too many mods and high settings will break the game, and you'll refuse to fix it. That's what happened to me.
