without a doubt, that song is the coolest opening sequence song in any video game or movie. It gives me goosebumps still :D

Is it the same one from Oblivion? That was pretty majestic-sounding. My sound is usually turned down so I can't say that i've noticed.

Jeremy Soule is the composer for the Elder Scrolls games, and is a very big name in fantasy music. I know he also did the music for Guild Wars, not sure what else. The main theme song has been the same since Morrowind, just reimagined for Oblivion and Skryim. Although I do have to admit Skyrim's version with the chanting is impressive

Great post, Xanax. I thought I preferred Oblivion, but playing them all in sequence, I'd say Skyrim edges Oblivion. Morrowind is just a little too "pretty", for lack of a better word.

Not sure if you played Morrowind or not but if they were to be put into movie/book genres: If Skyrim is an Epic, and Oblivion is an Action, then Morrowind is a Drama. There was so much underlying story and lore flowing over the brim of Morrowind's cup that most people missed it. The music is extremely Nostalgic for me and perfectly creates the setting of events happening within Morrowind. It was much less IN YOUR FACE, but none the less grand and enticing. I heard one of the songs in Skyrim today that was almost note for note from Morrowind. I literally stopped moving for about 2 minutes.

I have to say, since getting back into games, music is a surprisingly significant factor of how enjoyable it is. I never realized that it was such a cornerstone. And Skyrim is not just setting the bar, it IS the bar!

Thanks guys :] And yeah, the music in this game is incredible, I actually picked up a pretty decent pair of Steel Series headphones on Black Friday, only 30 bucks lol, awesome deal. They really make a difference in the level of immersion, I love hearing my companions footsteps trodding along behind me
