After all surfing of skyrim, I have decided to make a forum with replies of this hard pinned question. What is with Lydia? Why do you like her? Please reply.

I guess it's because she is one of the first companions you get early on in the game. Plus she's more attractive than any of the other NPC's who are available to be married.

I think this topic should be "Guys, Why Aela"

@ buggegirl99 - I don't get the attraction, either. Personally, she's my favorite follower to 'accidentally' kill. I've come up with so many fantastic ways for her to die...

I dont think shes attractive but I'm pretty sure I enjoyed her because she became my first companion so easily. And I agree with stagnant; total whore, and we tend to like whores :beermug:

I didn't like her at ALL! She always sounded sarcastic when I asked to trade with her; I am SWORN to carry your burden! Got SO tired of it I willingly let the Drauger's have their way with her. Then I got Aela, then married, but I hated that she was alway's in armor, so some Blackbriar merc's got her.

Sure wish Bethesda would make it so us widow's/widowers' could remarry, I'd get one of the female's in the market or something that wore something else besides armor!

A lot of men obviously have lots of pent up sexual frustration and Lydia must somehow appeal to the "inner neanderthal" within them. She's not to bright, she's not that interesting yet somehow they like her. Do not let that colour your opinion of all men though because we're not all evil, sex obsessed cavemen. :)

why go with lydia ?cuz she is your first follower . but if your asking why she is sexy , i would say she's not so sexy . Aela or karliah are much sexier :D

Lydia haters just can't stand the sight of a strong Nord woman. A strong Nord woman who really just does not want to carry your stuff.

Lydia's dialogue was always annoying to me, and instead I went with Aela.
It had nothing to do with the looks of a videogame character or the dialogue, only because she was a werewolf.

Strong Nord woman? The very first time I took her on a mission she got killed by a low-level bandit. One single opponent! That's not strong...that's pathetic. I have this theory that Balgruuf assigned her as my housecarl in the hopes she'd get herself killed, because he's tired of her whining.

You're my new favourite person.

:D Always so glad to bring a smile to peoples' faces (and induce gut-wrenching laughter if possible)!

Frankly, I dislike having to take Lydia after completing "Dragon Rising". I generally don't go any further than Bleak Falls Barrow any more, which I sometimes do to get Breezehome, because I dislike having Lyidia foisted on me. "Hi! Here's Lydia. She's yours whether you want her or not. Good day to you. No return on sale items".

I hate that. I feel there should be a dialogue line telling you that you've been promoted to Thane and giving you the option to have a housecarl if you wish. If you decline, you can come back later and ask for one to be assigned. That would be quite lovely.

1. She's the prettiest. That's the main reason.

2. She's usually the first or second companion you get, so plenty of "bonding time."

3. She makes sexual innuendos.

I've made about a dozen characters by now, so Bleak Falls Barrow is a chore.
