I shall list them in numerical order for you convenience in the answering of the aforementioned questions which I shall ask of you who have Hearthfire.

1, is there more than one aesthetic style of house? I've seen the Whiterun house looking one in the trailers, are there more?

2, how many land plots are there, and is there a "best" one?

3, does anything more than skeevers and giants raid your house?

4, is it worth the price?

I don't have Hearthfire, but I can still answer some questions.

1. No
2. 3, and not really.
3. Supposedly, you would also have bandits and kidnappers.
4. I'd say so, even though I'm on PC. I'll get it anyway, because I want to be a family (wo)man.

Same, I'm totally getting it (although I prefer the player house mods) Maybe. I haven't got Dawnguard yet though.

Watch out for hop-ons.
There are kidnappers? My son went missing for awhile once but I never thought kidnappers would have been the cause. That's juicy.

You have Hearthfire? To the interrogation room with you! Speak!

The house building part is interesting, mostly when it comes to furnishing it because there aren't a ton of options as far as designing your house goes. But you have a lot of options as to what you want to put in it.

The kid part is fun - you get a few dialogue options, you can give them treats and toys, tell them to do chores, go outside and play, etc. They tell you all of their accomplishments, wanting you to be proud of them.

Give them treats and toys, eh? I shall inform my kids early on of the joyous taste of sweetrolls.

EDIT - And if there's non-human kiddles, skooma shall be outlawed.

And wouldn't it just be too cute for words to have a flock of little Argonian kids flip-flopping all over the place?

There aren't going to be any Argonian Children because Nords don't have proper fish bowls to care for them because they are tadpoles...

....and that is Lore!

I love it!

Just in time for the fiyahworks show! BOOM!
Going by the names of the kids, there seems to be Nord, Imperial, and Breton children. But that's just the basis of the names. Basically, only human kids. Haven't noticed any children that could be considered Redguard though.

Have you guys noticed that the ingredients for sweetrolls have nothing sweet in them? It's four, butter, chicken's egg, milk and salt...lol

Maybe the folks of Skyrim naturally sweetened their butter or milk...

It's possible. I wonder why Bethesda doesn't have sugar in Skyrim. Seems like they would. Same with water skins that you could fill at a lake or river.

I would imagine both have been considered. I can also imagine the possibilities with including these 2 things. They like to do things well & kinda realistic. So, I could see sugar being scrapped as most players don't want to be tracked by bears or something due to having sugar on their person, or something similar happening.
I can see water skins in one down the road where water & food are factored into the game.

Yeah, I really hope they do water skins. I want hardcore mode like they have in Fallout New Vegas pretty badly. Yeah, I guess with the whole sugar thing, though they do have honey in the game now since Hearthfire came out. I suppose that does, and would carry a similar effect.

it's pretty fun, my kid got napped and I chased down the bandits and ripped their goddamn heads off with my mace. Then we skipped home humming merrily.

I probably won't be able to answer this question for another two months. PC player here.

The houses are all very similar. It all depends on how you add on the Wings.
You get 3 total. Each of the three (North, East and West) gives you a choice of 3 things.
I went with the Armory on one side because of all those Manikins. The Greenhouse on the other.
I can grow all the ingredients for the damage Health potions. And in the North wing the Alchemy tower. cause it looks cool from the outside.
