Schwhat?! Shadowmere is supposed to be invincible. At least I thought so. Hopefully, a patch will fix that soon.
To be honest, I would say reload to before you entered the cave. To me, Shadowmere is worth redoing the longest dungeon in Skyrim. That horse is amazing an will kick a dragon in the face for you without thinking twice

Bummer, PC you could've fixed it.
As for Shadowmere being invincible, not true. -Almost- invincible, not quite. Try attacking her, she can go down with enough damage.
