How do you backstab a Dragon?
Just a quick question. Want to acquire a new set ASAP.

Is it possible to access the catacombs under the Castle immediately after refusing or accepting Harkon's gift or do I need to wait until the first quest.

I know I probably could look it up, but this is easier. Also, does anyone have an exact location either in the catacombs or in the Castle itself?

Let me restate this query:

Is the Undercroft of Castle Volkahir accessible prior to the Chasing Shadows Quest, but after you return Serana to her father?

Den will probably have to go vamp for this I would guess. Besides, as a mage, a werewolf seems kind of silly. I'll save were and Dawnguard for my Dunmer Noir Gris.

I wouldn't know if that's possible or not, however I do know that you access the Undercroft even if you're on the Dawnguard side. So you could always keep going through Dawnguard and still access the Undercroft and receive the VR armor somewhere along the way. Also not sure if you're playing on console or not, but it'll cause a lot less bugs if you stick with Dawnguard til the end, then go VL. I learned that the hard way. :/

I have not tried this. But knowing Skyrim, I would think the pieces you need to the puzzle in the garden wouldn't be there until the quest. I don't think they'd allow you to access it until the quest. To be honest though, if you choose the Dawnguard side, and just go straight through the quests, it won't take you too long to get to that point. All you gotta do is find the two people (about 20 minutes with fast travel), go straight to Dragonbridge and get the Moth Priest (maybe 25 minutes with fast travel), and that's it if memory serves me correctly.

I can't remember what you play on (I think PS3 right?), but just in case, if you're on console you can just use a code or take them from Serana.

Oh and as to the exact location of them: I believe they are located in the room that you have to kill the 3 gargoyles. It's in a corner on a shelf with a silver sword against the wall. In the undercoft when you're killing all the skeletons and gargoyles.
