Both! PC mods ftw :p In all honesty though, them forcing you to do something is completely unrealistic.. The Blades SERVE the Dragonborn, not the other way around. No true Blade of old would ever dare speak to you in the manner in which Delphine does at times, let alone demand you to do something.

Yeah, it always irked me how Delphine talks to the dragonborn, especially the line "Better to stick together. I don't want you to get yourself killed before we even get there."

I
always sided with the Greybeards. I like them and Parthuunax. I also got the Blades armor and sword before they asked me to kill him. If I could I'd wear the Greybeards robes and meditate on the Way of the Voice like they do. I like the peacefulness of High Hrothgar.

I have never completed to entire main quest line, but when I get around to continuing it again I will most likely be siding with the Greybeards...

My main sided with the Greybeards. She never trusted Delphine 100% anyway and her trying to force her to kill Paarthurnax took away any remaining trust. She likes Esbern from a scholarly perspective and regrets they couldn't do more together though. I like to think that perhaps Esbern is the Friend that sends you letters about different Word Walls for that reason.
My Orc and perhaps my Nord characters will join the Blades, because the latter was taught that being Dragonborn meant to fight ALL dragons, and because my Nord feels that this is the way her ancestors did it and so she will as well. I may change that for my Nord though - Nords do after all seem to have a certain respect for the Greybeards.
So really it depends on the character. But personally - Greybeards. Just because Delphine is and always has disrespected my Dragonborns. :/

Well it was written for the game, the only quest that had to be completed was for the blades there was no option for the greybeards which honestly suck imo because there are still 2 unkillable dragons in the end, if only there was a true option not to kill parthuurax

Once Delphine gave me an ultimatum to kill Parthanax that turned me off of the blades right there and the fact she wouldn't help or speak to me until I did made me want to force choke her on the spot.

I'm with the Blades until we get to the point that they demand Paarthurnax' death. B!tch, is this how you treat someone who put up a fight with the Thalmor for you? Or the dragon that helped me to save the friggin' world?

Now please, this is just my opinion. Before you start bashing me with "Oi but Paarthurnax was a real killer once!", if you haven't killed Runil in every single of your playthroughs, you're just being a hypocrite.

I used to like recruiting followers for the Blades, but since getting Hearthfire where I can recruit followers to become stewards, I don't really feel the need to do the Blades induction any more. And I've become quite fond of Parthuurnax, so I don't wanna kill him.

My emotional stance is: "Paarthurnax rules, Blades drool" for reasons others have more eloquently stated above this post.

But even if I was looking at it from a gameplay perspective I think I'd choose the Greybeards because I don't want them to stop giving me the: "Find the Word of Power" misc quest. I find that way more useful than recruiting followers or a dragonslayers blessing.

I side with Paarthurnax. No way in hell could I ever kill him, regardless of the type of RP I'm currently doing.

My response to Delphine...

Alduin couldn't kill me, you feeling lucky?

How do you backstab a Dragon?
Always the Greybeards. I simply loathe the Blades. Delphine and the Coot just get on my nerves. That being said, since I'm playing a racist, xenophobic, homicidal jacka** on one of my current builds (Stormcloak), I'll probably go blades, since I'm trying to play everything I hate in a character, just once.

Pretty muh my default position. You can still get the "letter from a friend" letters which ask you to investigate a "source of power" which will lead you to word walls, but I'd rather have Arngeir personally mark it down on my map.

I've just never been a good "ultimatums" guy, especially from people that I just saved their butts. Delphine can take that her over-developed sense of importance and kiss my dragon-blood filled ass.

The recruiting thing is cool, but then again, you technically are recruiting people to answer to Delphine, not yourself. If they aren't following me, they aren't followers. That said, during my PS3 days I started with, the recruit option was the only way to make some characters potential followers, but on PC, mods fix that limitation.

If that's the case, then it is interesting that both characters that give you this help are both voiced by the same person, Max von Sydow

Absolutely agree, of course, since I very, very rarely ever use a follower, I have no need for the whole recruitment thing in the first place. :)

I use them considerably more on PC as again, mods correct the default annoyances that I had on PS3 with them usually just being in the way and generally more trouble than they are worth. I rarely used one ever on console. If I did, it was usually when I was at a very low level and thus the help could save my butt in a risky endeavor

I be a loner! Besides, I have Dragon Age and Dragon's Dogma that force me to have companions. It's nice to have a game where I don't have to play on a team. I don't do that in real life either, preferring tennis, golf, skiing, swimming, walking, etc... which do not require a team.

Besides, no follower in Skyrim truly knows how to sneak (and that includes Serana). And I'm just the sneaky type.

Might take a tank follower with Ulv Tordenfodt though since he doesn't sneak and his whole point is simply to kill everything that isn't a Nord or a Stormcloak, freeing up Skyrim for long nights of mead drinking and ritual battle. Oh... wait... wouldn't that be Sovengard?
