I joined the Legion. The standard Stormcloak uniform makes you look so fat.
Good to know you have your priorities straight! ;)

One thing I'd like to say is that there have been numerous times when I'd run into a spawn of at least one dead and naked body, with a group of nearby legionaires (I'm pretty sure their target names were simply 'Imperial Officers', without any unique names). I remember them saying something like, 'Just need a few more septims for gambling'. And if I got close enough, they jumped me!

I'm of course not saying that everyone on the Imperials' side are greedy enough to murder innocents in the wilds of Skyrim, but I don't remember ever witnessing Stormcloaks murder people for their valuables - or the aftermath of it I mean.

But I still prefer the Imperials because they don't have Ulfiric, and because they have Solitude- my favorite city! I'm also not really much of a rebel.

It's a cop thing, you wouldn't get it.

Isn't that a bandit that's killed an Imperial? I've run into one in Stormcloak gear before, but it was an enterprising bandit who'd stolen the gear off of a Stormcloak he'd ambushed...

I joined the Imperials. I try to evaluate the political and moral consequences of my actions. So, my reasons for joining the legion were:

1. The Empire is the legitimate ruling faction of Skyrim.

2. The Stormcloaks only allegiance and Ideal is Ulfric himself, and he is as selfish as they come.

3. Skyrim would be vulnerable to the Aldmerry Dominion were they to become independent. This would ensure both Skyrim and the Empire would fall in the long run---they need eachother, militarily and economicaly in order to survive.

Besides that, the armor is friggin sweet, and I love the Roman feel I get from playing for the Imperials. As for those legionaires that ambushed those civillians, those were actually bandits that stole legionaire armor, the civillians in fact were the legionaires if memory serves.

...I'm running around in "Legendary" Imperial armor right now, btw :p

Like ShortStacked mentioned, there are bandits that do that. Either after joining the Legion or becoming a legate (can't remember), one of my dialogue options when they claimed to be Imperial officers was "I'm on the Legion, and I'll be damned if you are."
Then they tried to attack, because it must have seen like such a brilliant idea at the time.

Even if Skyrim stays in the Empire Tamriel wont be split into two alliances. Theres still the isolationist Argonia (Black Marsh) which controls most, if not all of Morrowind. I wonder in the upcoming war who they will side with? Or if they will remain neutral again?
I totally forgot about them for a sec  there the wild card so thel probably stay neutral and or attacking both sides after they were themselves out, to eventually gain dominance over the AD and the Empire.
