When I play the The Elder Scrolls games I am 9 times out of 10 playing a nord. My personal preference is to play human characters in fantasy games so playing an elf or one of the beast races is hard to do for me. Slowly I am working to getting out of my comfort zone and the different races of tes, I've played a breton and then I started a wood elf play through, I hope to eventually play with one of the beast races.
So has anyone else struggled to play another race out of what they usually play?

Sorry for any grammer mistakes, I had a hard time in english class.

I usually end up playing a wood elf or a nightingale (mod) Which is like an OP nord... I have only ever played other characters when I want to compare their power to mine xD so yas... I have a problem but I embrace it :)

I think you gotta just give it a go, some classes Ill never play simply cause of their genetic ability, but you could motivate yourself to trying a new race by setting a purpose, like a no potions playthru, Id choose argonian cause of histskin ability which generates hp. Each race also has skills that they r focused towards at start. My orc had 25 heavy armour at game start I think, and my prev game was a high elf mage, with no melee or decent defence, squishy. So I decided I wanted 2 b able to 1v1 draugr deathlords and win.

9 out of 10 times I play as a wood elf. I just feel more connected to that race for some reason. I have made a khajiit, a snow elf (my main character), an argonian, a nord, and a breton though. Although the nord and breton didn't get past the 20s in leveling. The race I just can't get myself to try is the Altmer. They are just too tall for my 5'1'' self. I can't immerse myself into the game as a tall character. Which is probably why my nord didn't get past lv 20. But in the end, I just like how wood elves look so I always go with them (I also play as a sneaky archer so they really are the best race for me).

I can't play Elf races due to the nature of Skyrim, doesn't "fit" to be dungeon crawling as a High Elf in some snowy cavern.

I love the Mer races. I have one of each except a Dunmer, which I'll be making eventually - probably going to take advantage of the fire resistance and make her a vampire lord. I used to have a hard time playing with the Beast and Human races, actually. But I tried them out a few times and decided I liked them. The Human characters I still have to pretend have Elven ancestry though or I just can't seem to connect to them and subsequently play them. I have a Khajiit sneak archer now, and eventually I'll be making an Argonian Illusion assassin. So. I will say I only have a Nord right now, and I may eventually make a Breton if I want to change things up, but I have a hard time playing Redguards even now. I don't know why. I just do.

redgaurds are the strongest but the impearials are the EMPIRE and they are cool

I don't necessarily dislike Redguards. They're just not for me.
I do like Imperials though. Their racial ability, Voice of the Emperor, I imagine could come in handy in a variety of situations, making them able to be just about anything. I've thought of making one actually, but haven't figured out a good build for one just yet so I haven't done so.

Usually I play as a Nord as well, either a bandit/"Viking" type marauder or a bounty-hunting loner.

As far as playing something different, I had some fun playing an Orc mage, imagining him as a sort of tribal shaman character. He wore Forsworn armor, with all those bones, fangs and skulls adorning the outfit it looked very shamanistic. He focused in Conjuration and Destruction (fire), Alchemy (poisons!) and used a Forsworn dagger for a weapon.

(And by the way, drem yol lok, your English is really good! )

I can't play anything that doesn't support my strat. Which is usually some combination between Magic and Heavy Armor. While I suppose you could turn any character into a mage, I like to stick with what works the fastest. Granted, I picked up a mod that restored Oblivion racial abilities so.

I totally struggle with that. CAnnot play a Khajit, Argonian, or Orc. I've played a wood elf and a high elf, but I tweaked their faces to look as human as possible. The high elf went to the face sculptor a whopping 7 times. I think it's because I identify so strongly with my character, it's as if I become them. And I'm not a kitty or a lizard!

Google: Ethereal Elven Overhaul. It's a mod at Skyrim Nexus which makes the High Elves look normal again.

I'm a female and usually play as male. I usually play the typical nord hero who doesn't join the stormcloaks. I have a hard time playing a female. Idk why! But I'm forcing myself to give it a go and resiting the urge to try out a male orc haha

My very first character was a Khajiit. I jumped at the chance to play an overgrown Kitteh!
I have played every race but High elf, dark elf and Orc..why? Because I think they are ugly.. simple. Yeah I know Argonians are none too pretty either but I was very fond of my Tiberius Black-scales. He was a very handsome lizard :p

I often like playing as a Dunmer Mage, but I've been an Imperial fan since Oblivion. Romulus is by far my favorite character, I love the look of Penitus Oculatus armor with the Imperial full-faced helm.

I just installed the ethereal elven overhaul and completly forgot about it until I started the mages college today and thought "wow, faralda is really pretty. Why haven't I noticed it before?"
