Hello.
I would like to know if the Dragon Smithing perk is still a MUST even tho you only want to use Daedric set. Does the Dragon Smithing perk will let you improve your Daedric set to legendary quality instead of epic?

Thank you!

I think 100 smithing allows you to improve armor/weapons even more but im pretty sure that the perk itself doesent give bonuses, only allows you to smith dragon armor.

EDIT: although i'm not sure of the last part 'and improve them twice as much' i think that only goes for the dragon armor

True, getting the dragon smithing perk will have no effect on your ability to improve your daedric armor/weapons. If you only intend to use daedric weapons and armor, there's no need to waste a perk point on that dragon skill.

Ok but the definition of the perk says :
"Can create Dragon Armor at the forges and improve them twice as much"
So I think the improvement skill comes with the perks and not the skill levels.
I will wait for other opinions and test it out meanwhile.

Thank you!

Sorry for double post. So if i'm right, in theory you get the *legendary improvement at level 100 smithing*. At that point you can improve any set of armor to legendary if you have the perk unlocked. That means you could not improve dragonscale but you will still be able to improve daedric. That's it?

Ex: When you just start smithing and say you try to upgrade a steel plate to legendary... it wont allow you to because you 'lack the required skill to perform this task' so i don't know if a steel plate can ever become legendary or its just the higher the skill. also i was able to improve daedric to legendary at 90 which is the level required to get the perk... So if someone has 100 smithing can you try to make a steel plate legendary or dwarven?

edit: not even sure if its possible :S

Yes, by getting the perk, you can improve "x" armor to Legendary quality, up to twice as good. However, your skill is what makes it much better. This is why you see so many threads advising enchanted armor to fortify smithing and potions to do the same. Adding to that stat substantially increases the improved damage value/resistance of weapons/armor.

So iron dagger your way up to lvl 100, you'll be glad you did :)

Are there potions that improve smithing skill by like 10-20 for 30-60 second? so smithing is 115 or 120 for 30-60 seconds then goes back to 100?

With the right alchemy perks and armor enchanted to fortify alchemy, you can make potions that fortify Smithing for 130% for 30 seconds. Add that to your enchanted armor for smithing, and you've got a temporary smithing skill of 330! Remember though, that the timer is ticking when in the workbench/grindstone menu. Know the regular improvement values, so you see the difference and know when your pot has worn off.

hey my smithing is 100 and my dragonscale is legendary. but when i was making iron daggers to enchant them the other night i couldnt improve them past epic. so idk if its too weak to be put at legendary or not but it was like that for the dwarven mace i made too.

I got 100 in smithing and can impove my dragon Armor to Legendary it gives a lot more armor rating. Currenty my armor rating is 540 with 3/4 Dragonplate Armor and max heavy armor set. I dont think u can make deadric set at all...

Thanks for feed backs guys! gladly appreciated :D
Someone answered my question already though!
You get the skill to improve any set of gear (Must have unlocked the perk already) to legendary when you reach smiting level 90. But like brandon said, It doesn't mean you will be able to improve cheap weapon / armor to legendary, only gear of decent quality.

you can when you get the perk. each peice requires ebony and 1 deadra heart. you can buy them from a guy at the college in winterhold or sometimes get them from other people.
