What do you mean by PERSISTENT? They'll disappear from containers (non-vendors) after some time? The items from the Fishing Job radiant quest disappear once I forcibly reset their containers. There are items that don't disappear when I do this such as Bounty letters and Treasure Maps I-X but the fished stolen items DO disappear making me think they're persistent.
I'm getting that "Persistent" means that they remain in a vendor's inventory in to perpetuity, but, if placed in a re-spawning container, they will eventually dissappear, while a "Permanent" item never does, even if placed in a re-spawning container. Am I right Adam?
I have tested Silver weapons by killing non-spawning named NPC(inconsequential ones) and without fail their corpses have vanished along with those weapons. To be an anchor , the object in question must be both persistent AND permanent. Most persistent objects do turn out to be permanent but silver swords and the gaulder amulet are not.
For those looking for a definitive list of ALL permanent objects , I don`t think that`s going to happen. Sometimes objects obtain the trait by undetermined circumstance.
The ten Treasure Maps and the Fort Neugrad Treasure map have been solid anchors for me in all cases .
A lot of Journals and notes also work but must be handled carefully.
As for testing items ,Check for PERSISTENCE 1st and if that works , use as an anchor on an appropriate NPC you can afford to lose.(perhaps a respawning container will suffice idk) If it anchors them , remove and store it for future use on a "keeper"

So far, the most permanent of permanent items (I've reset the non-respawning containers at least 20 times) I've found at about maybe 5% of my newest playthrough seem to be these items (I still wouldn't drop them though):

-Aela's Shield
-Ghostblade
-Alto Wine (A Night to Remember)
-Ansilvund Key
-All 4 of Arondil's Journals
-Arondil's Key
-Boethiah's Proving (random encounter Boethiah Cultist)
-Bounty letters
-Embershard Mine Key
-Giant's Toe (A Night To Remember)
-Iron Ingot (I don't even remember where this one came from but it never disappears)
-Isabelle's Letter
-Hagraven Feathers (A Night To Remember, although, since I was able to eat it before finishing the quest, I haven't exactly verified it, yet.)
-Kyr's Bounty (1st one you look at)
-Kyr's Log
-Letter from Jarl Siddgeir of Falkreath
-Mysterious Note (Dark Brotherhood)
-Pinewatch Key
-Pinewatch Treasure Room Key
-Rannveigs Fast Key (one of them, idk which one)
-Repair Supplies
-RIften North Gate Key
-Statue of DIbella (Taking Care of Business)
-Thalmor Orders
-Torygg's War Horn
-Treasure Map I
-Treasure Map III
-Treasure Map IV
-Treasure Map X
-Urag's Note
-Writ of Sealing
-Ysolda's Message
Ogmund's Amulet of Talos
-Calcelmo's Ring
-Madesi's Silver RIng

Notes: Moira's Wedding RIng disappeared after a few resets. I thought the pickpoketed Blade of Woe was permanent because it persisted in another playthrough, unless getting it taken away by guards (it was flagged stolen) was the problem. Voada's Spice Beef persisted after 1 reset and after another, it disappeared. All the items on the above list survived every reset I inputted on them but some of them, if dropped, will disappear after a reset such as all of Arondil's Journals. Also take note that the quests each item is associated with has already long ended because for one example, the Museum Pamphlet is permanent until Dagon's quest ends.

On the 360, I've discovered that throwing a Mind Control Spider on a corpse will cause it to permanently behave like a follower when revived. It equips any armour you give it, and will change stance/go into stealth with the player character.

This exploit seem to work on all normal NPCs, with the exception of Vampires and Dremoras.

Can anyone else confirm this because it doesn't work for me unless it's because I'm on PC. The spider disappears after I thrall people.

I thought it was too good to be true. After all , doesn`t the spider have a 30 second time limit?
I don`t have access to my Xbox currently so can`t confirm if true or troll.

Unless i see actual visual evidence of it being possible or more people start agreeing with it then I'm gonna have to put a HUGE, RED X on it... for now.

I have managed to successfully reproduce what Khepra has discovered on ps3 however it did not work 100% of the time. I have only tested Haldyn and managed to make him equip an enchanted ebony helmet and the ebony mail. He will go into sneak mode and behaves more like a follower than a thrall. When fast traveling he still has the same equipment that I gave him and has not reverted back to his original equipment that is still in his inventory. His incessant moans and groans do not cease unfortunately. I am still testing if there are any differences in AI performance in combat.

Update: The glitch is very difficult to do I've only managed to get it to work with Haldyn, Breland and Talvas Fathryon (I haven't tested any others except Feldir the Old which for some reason would not work). It worked for me the first try making me believe it was easy which is quite the contrary. It seemed like I had the best chances of it working when I first loaded up a save but even then it was by luck that it worked. It is easy to tell if the exploit has worked by simply crouching or taking out a weapon after raising the dead. If they do not follow your actions then the glitch did not work. It usually took me about 5-10 attempts of reloading the save and then performing the glitch for it to be successful. After it has worked you can kill the thrall and it will equip equipment you put in its inventory in death (which is kind of creepy). I have yet to get two glitched thralls in one save. Right now I have Talvas Fathryon equiped with the ebony mail, Dukaan mask, Ahzidal's gauntlets and ring of arcana along with a pair of ebony boots. When I fast travel or reload the save the equipment I gave him stays so the exploit seems relatively permanent. His AI seems to be the same in combat but I've noticed that other thralls I've done the glitch on seem to be more intelligent than their regular dead self. I could just be imagining it although. If this glitch only works for one dead thrall Talvas may be the best candidate due to the fact that he has the necromage perk along with a vast number of other perks as well as spells. I will keep testing but I need others to confirm Khepra's findings as well.

My experience has been very similar. I've noticed that it works most of the time on my Imperial and High elf characters, but my Dunmer has never performed it successfully. So far, I have been able to spider-thrall everyone from Ulfric to Wyndelius Gatharian, but it does seem that some characters are less responsive than others.

It also works on creatures like Falmer/Giant Frostbite Spiders/Hagravens too. Their appearance doesn't change, but after you change cell/fast travel they receive all armour & enchantment boosts, including effects like the Ebony Mail's shadow cloak. In addition, I have discovered that they are capable of using spell scrolls like Fireball and Flame cloaks- even without the Mind Control Spider glitch.

BTW Khepra have you managed to get 2 "spider-thralls" working in one save? I've only ever managed to get one at a time. I've been trying to spider-thrall Stalleo while I have Talvas actively enthralled but I haven't managed to get it to work.

Yes- although it did take a few attempts. It's slightly easier if you glitch them both at the same time.

You convinced me to keep trying and now I have Haldyn, Talvas, Stalleo, Paratus Decimius, Drelas, and Felldir The Old all spider-thralled on my save. It seems much easier for some reason than when I initially began. Maybe its due to the fact that I duped a bunch of mind control spiders from the 5 I had to begin with. Also reloading the save is time consuming, its much easier and more effective if you dupe a bunch of spiders then keep throwing it on the corpse of your choice and re-thralling it. Also I'm not sure if this is just me but I've had the best success doing it at the Apprentice Stone and getting spider-thralls within 5 attempts. I have Talvas and Felldir The Old active at the moment. Talvas has J'zargo's Flame Cloak Scrolls, the Ahzidal mask, Ahzidal gauntlets and ebony mail. I'm not sure if the enchantments on the gauntlets or the mask take full effect or even if his necromage perk does either since I'm not on PC but I have noticed that Talvas gains complete immunity from fire spells with the mask on. Felldir has a necklace with resto loop magic resistance enchantment, the Dukaan mask and light stalhrim armor along with Icy spear, frost atronach and paralysis staves. It would be cool if I could get frost cloak scrolls for Felldir but from what I've read on the discussion page from the scrolls section of uesp its not possible or is nearly impossible. Another thing to mention is when the glitch didn't work the first time I had my follower kill the thrall instead of dispelling. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the glitch but it seemed to work much better with less attempts involved. One last thing, I have a question about the amulet of Talos if anyone with the knowledge could help me out. This was never relevant to followers because none of them could use dragon shouts but now that we can get spider-thralls from the call of valor dragon shout that can use shouts will the amulet affect their cooldown timer? I've read that the reason only some enchantments work on followers and not others is because they are missing a hidden perk called PerkSkillBoosts that the player has but I'm not sure if the shout cooldown enchantment is encompassed by this missing perk.

Hey its been awhile since anyone has posted so I figured I'd put some interesting stuff (glitches) that I found on the internet one that's fun and a couple that no one has been able to consistently replicate through a method.

The first I've actually had happen to myself in one of my playthroughs. I'm not sure how I did it but I had two sanguine roses and I just kept spamming the dremora summons. Here on uesp someone else had the same experience http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim_talk:Conjuration#Summoning_infinite_Atronach_bug. I also found a video with the same glitch
but yet neither of the people who the glitch happened to knew what exactly caused it. My best guess is that the glitch has something to do with not having the twin souls perk and casting one of the bound weaponry spells specifically the bound bow similar to the glitch of being able to roll without having the silent roll perk.

The second glitch I found is weird and would have interesting uses if it could be exploited but I believe this glitch was caused by an unofficial patch for the PC players because in the description the person explains that they raised the corpse with the ritual stone then entered a new cell. This isn't possible from what I've tested on console (PS3) because once raised with the frost explosion effect entering a new cell seems to wipe the effect from the corpses.

The last glitch is mentioned on a forum and I haven't been able to test yet because I do not have any of the werewolf perks http://www.gamesas.com/infinite-summons-werewolf-with-shout-cooldowns-bug-t291668.html. The person probably managed to do it by having 5 amulets of Talos and a follower and performing the multiple apparel glitch and equiping all 5 amulets or by drinking a resto loop fortify restoration potion then equipping the amulet in werewolf form through the follower exploit. Even as a necromancer I think It would still be cool to have an army of spectral werewolves annihilating everything standing in your path.

Yeah, I sorta can't get the spider glitch going either. I've tried to throw the Mind Control Spiders on the corpse and then raise them but nothing unusual happens... If the above is a genuine query
Placing an "anchor" (permanent object) in inventory can create permanent corpses out of certain NPC when the body would normally disappear after their death.
Useful for non-respawning named NPC whose leveis are low enough for the Dead Thrall spell to be used or if you simply want to preserve certain bodies for personal reasons (like Arondil)

Thank you Adam. It was indeed a genuine query. I've been away from Skyrim for over 3 months now but am intending to come back as an Argo Necromage Vampire shortly and would like to explore the options that y'all have so eloquently discussed in this thread.
I have never done any of this before and want to experiment.
By "anchor" in inventory, do you mean in their inventory or mine?
Sorry, I am a complete novice at necromancy but have printed the list that iMAcobra so generously provided.
Thanks!
