Bosmer.. And I don't know why :)

dunmer are not supposed to look nice.

Well, when I say "nice", I mean nice for that race. I think I've just got a blind spot for these races when I'm putting their features and coloring together at the beginning of the game...they always start out looking deformed and sickly. I've made great-looking Dunmer and Altmer, but they only looked presentable after I took them to the Ragged Flagon to fix them.

The arcane superiority of the altmer has always been in my favor. I've never played as a bosmer, but I played as a dunmer in TES IV Oblivion, which was fun. I must say all mer races are unique, but it really depends on your type of character you think you are.

Can I say orcs? Because I know wood elves are called bosmer because bos means wood and mer means elf. Same with dunmer (dark-elf).
I suppose that's why falmer are called falmer, seeing they used to be snow elves and therefore are technically mer.

Orcs are called orismer, hinting they probably have some elven genes somewhere (they have pointy ears too)

Orcs are elves. Though they were thought for a long time to be monsters; in fact they were only enemies in the first 2 ES titles, only becomeing citizens of the empire at the end of Daggerfall. They've come a long was considering they've only been though of as 'human' for the passed two hundred years or so.

I have to agree with those who said Bosmer, I too love nature and adore their connection to it. Their cannibalism doesn't really bother me since they have a somewhat logical reason for it, more spiritual than not I suppose.

I don't like the way Bosmer are portrayed in skyrim, when I play Bosmer I go by the history I know of every other game/books/movies where they are Vegetarian.
I play as a vegetarian Bosmer as well! :D
I never eat meat or cheese and I try to avoid using animal alchemy ingredients and wearing armors with fur if I can avoid it. :) And I never "hunt" either! I'm estranged from the rest of my race, but I like playing as vegan as one can be in Skyrim. <3

Have I replied here yet? Can't remember. Anyway, DUNMER for life. ;) Awesome mer race with plenty of interesting lore and a rich and unique homeland.

I only play as bretons and Nords, but if I had to play as a Mer I'd play as a dunmer. I never liked high elves since I feel like they are the rival Mage class to bretons. I don't mind wood elves, but if I was going to role play as one I would want to marry another wood elf and you can't in skyrim.

Bretons are part human part elf, so you can say that Bretons are your favorite elven race.

My favorite was always Bosmer. I read somewhere recently that they are cannibals. I am finding it hard to get past that new information. I really like the Snow Elves, as they were in the past.

As far as how they look now, I really don't like it at all. I feel like Bethesda changed the appearance of the elves wayyy too much. I think the Orcs still look fine. But the Altmer, Dunmer, & Bosmer just look completely deformed now, in my opinion.

I get the whole idea of them being a different race, so they shouldn't look human. However, I feel like they are completely unlike what they were in previous games. They should have stuck with a basic concept look & just improved it with new games, instead of completely changing it to where they aren't even recognizable. These are just my feelings though.

How do you backstab a Dragon?
1) Orsimer
2) Altmer (love the attitude)
3) Bosmer (hey, they're cannibals!)
4) Dwemer (so mysterious)
5) Snow Elves (do they have a Mer name?)
6) Maormer
7) Chimer
8) Falmer
9) Ayelid (although I know next to nothing about them - I just like their ruins in Oblivion)
10) ?
11) ?
12) ?
13) Dunmer - while cool, I can't make them good looking at all and those glowing red eyes just creep me out. Do love their fire abilities though and their rich history.

I'll have to look more into the whole cannibalism thing. I do seem to remember seeing it was spiritual in nature, but I was so shocked by reading it because I always pictured them differently. I am open to reading more about their culture though.

Orismer, hands down. They're badass.

But if I had to pick from the more "traditional" elven racs, probably Altmer. Come to think of it, I've never once played a Bosmer. I like Dunmer well enough, but appearance-wise, I'd probably give it to the Altmer.

Falmer and Snow Elves are the same race. Knight - Paladin Gelebor is an uncorrupted Snow Elf while the enemies known as Falmer are corrupted Snow Elves.

I have already had a huge debate with someone about this so I just wanted to clarify and not start war.

It comes from their culture. They eat their dead as if not to waste them. They cannot harm the plants so their diet is meat based. Therefore they need to take what they can get.

Altmer are probably my favorite. The lore is interesting. And all the arrogant ones in game usually make me laugh more than annoy me. Bosmer are a close second. With the wood elves of other fantasy titles being all vegetarian, I found the cannibalistic nature of the bosmer to be very interesting.
