For me it's all about asthetics. I don't play ugly or dumpy. Even if it means I have to use slightly lesser armor and weapons, I'll be derned if I'm going to play unattractive. If I wanted unattractive with some little bit of talent, I'd be watching Brittany Spears videos.

I like Bretons because they get a boos to conjuration, which make a "good" necromancer much easier.

I don't know how you are 25 in conjure by the 3rd level. I am usually level 2 before I get out of Helgen. I guess I don't check the spells the guy has in Riverwood. It's basically sell everything I have and then decide to go to Bleakfalls or go after the Bound Bow book.
raise. destroy. raise. destroy. raise destroy. I do this to every single body from riverwood to Falkreath. works like a charm. plus there are 2 conjuration skill books on the lake iliantha road
:)

You don't freakin' say. I obviously haven't explored that road enough. I made me an Argonian this morning since I have been itching to make me a nice one. I did have to buy the Raise Zombie spell book so I could sell the other stuff I picked up.

Maybe I am thinking of a different lake, but is that the one when you come out of bleakfalls barrow?

I'm the same way about looks. I don't know why as I only see the back of my guy when running or fighting. My next Breton will be an old man just for giggles.

She wasn't that bad looking of course she was 15 back then. Hey, if you want unattractive and no talent you can always YouTube Justin Beiber videos.

yup. but other side of the lake. use the road headed up out of Whiterun (across from the smith and next to the inn towards helgen). don't forget to look for bandits on the cliffs!

Bretons are the only race I use. Dragonskin is clutch against Dragon Priests and 25% passive MR is a major bonus. I couldn't care less about the Conjuration bonus personally.

So you don't care that your characters look like toads with bad haircuts? I'm assuming you use the DB cowls and hoods extensively so as not to frighten yourself every time you go to 3rd person, yes?

When you don't play in third person, it doesn't matter..... I personally prefer to play in first person, unless I am on an intimidation quest for the companions. Then, I go to third person so I don't hit the wrong person & get arrested......again.

Makes sense. I have too many issues with actually seeing what's going on around me in 1st person (although I always use it in archery or often when casting spells). Too much tunnel vision (and don't give me the "you're wearing a helmet" thing - I usually don't wear a helmet!). People have peripheral vision. I can see 180 degrees (to both sides to 90 degrees). That's just not possible in the game. Besides, if I was to use a toad-like breton, I would still scare the crap out of myself with their looks when a kill-shot came up. I think I'd be dehydrated from all the... oh never mind. I've taken this Breton-bashing far enough. :)

Well, I am usually either an Altmer or Nord any way, I haven't really played a Breton. Khajit & Argonians just don't appeal to me.

Bretons aren't bad looking at all, if you know how to actually use appearance changer.

Funny, but I can make any other type (including orcs and argonians and mers) at least passibly attractive, but, as of yet, I have never discovered a way to make Bretons attractive in the least. They're short, dumpy and have the worst selection of eyes, noses, lips and skin tone I have ever seen. Sorry. I just don't like the appearance of Bretons. Their racial abilities are great! I just can't get past playing a character that looks like Mrs. Doubtfire or Benny Hill. :)

As to your remark about "if you know how to actually use appearance changer", that was uncalled for and very rude. You need not be insulting. Those of us on console don't have all the mods PCers do to change so many things. We have to settle for what we can get. Besides, it's not like I'm a newby. I can even make extremely attractive and realistic characters in Oblivion too. Or did you think I was going to settle for default every time.

I never go third person. Ever. Personally, I think worrying about appearance in a single player game is a complete waste of time... for me.

Whiterun? Do you mean Riverwood? If not then I am totally lost. When you say next to the inn and opposite the blacksmith I think Riverwood between the inn and the trader that goes up the mountain.

Seems that is when I end up hitting the wrong person

Yes Riverwood. My apologies. I'm not playing at the moment (in Oblivion) so my memory is getting fuzzy... :)

Yeah I started a new guy today just because I didn't want to get wrapped up doing the things with my others, well that and to change my play style. I never did find the spell books
