The future of the Dovahkiin? (Emperor?)

It's been years since I played the main quest to completion. What exactly is implied about the Dovahkiin's stake in Tamriel's future after the game? Being the Dragonborn, I mean? All the previous Dragonborn since the first defeat of the dragons(if I remember correctly) were emperors, except for that one guy who became a GOD.

It's been two hundred years since the last Dragonborn Emperor, of course, but there should be factions within the empire, the Blades included, that would claim our Dovahkiin the rightful ruler. Especially if the current one is *cough*mysteriouslyassassinated*cough* at some point in the same period as the Dragonborn seemingly return to the world. Especially if the Dovahkiin also plays an instrumental role in putting down a rebellion that the previous leadership was unable to deal with themselves...

It's mostly a speculative lore question, I know, but if any of my characters are going to go on to become Emperor then it behooves me to make one with that in mind.

Seeing how much luck the Empire had recently, the Dragonborn will either vanish like all the other game heroes and will never be heard from again, or might be assassinated by the Thalmor.

If the latter happens then there's no way I'm not going to wreak havoc on 'em as soon as I get the chance. Should they be in TES6, that is.

Well, yes, you can certainly look at it that way. Without meta-gaming, though, what is the Dovahkiin's prospects after stopping Alduin given the premises of the lore? I'm not much interested in how they'll be hand-waved in the next game, just where their story could realistically go after the events of this one.

And it looks to me that becoming Emperor would be very plausible given the Dragonborn's connection to the Imperial throne and the political currents in Tamriel. A new Dragonborn Emperor who won't take plops from the Thalmor would create the right tension for a war against them somewhere down the line.

And no, there's no way the Dragonborn will be assassinated by the Thalmor. They're just too badass, and the elves are just too wimpy, and the developers killing off our characters in such a pathetic way would cause a riot. The Dragonborn will certainly have to deal with their fair share of Thalmor assassins, but it's more likely that they'll go underground as a result than succumb.

There are a lot of comparisons and similarities between the Dragonborn and Tiber Septim in the game I think it's almost a guarantee that they'll become emperor. Just as a small example remember that Septim had a red dragon working for him at one point. Guess what the Dovahkiin gets at the end of the main quest. That's one of many mind you.

Given the freedom we have in selecting whatever race we desire, I could not see Tamriel accepting a Khajiit for it's Emperor. Or an Argonian, or Dark elf.. or any other race other than Imperial for that matter.

My argonian Dovahkiin does not want to rule. He just wants to live in peace with his wife and two adopted children.

...How do you figure?

Well, from all TES games Skyrim has hooked the most fans. And 99% of them hate the Thalmor. As soon as anything like "Evil Elves ruling and stuff 2.0" would be advertised they'd receive more preorders than the last 3 games altogether.

The Dragonborn is still a man/woman and thus susceptible to death. Even Tiber Septim almost died at the hands of an assassin. So our Dragonborn being assassinated is plausible.

In that sense, yes, Death By Thalmor Assassin is a definite option for the Dragonborn. I highly doubt it'll be the Dovahkiin's canon ending, though.

They'll receive all those preorders anyway, no reason to alienate fans who are attached to their Skyrim characters and think better of them than to be killed off-screen by the Thalmor.

Yes, obviously different character concepts have different prospects by the end of the game, but the canon Dragonborn seems to be a Nord a la Tiber Septim, and Imperials would have an even easier time of gathering support in the Empire.

It would be epic if the dragonborn was emporer, but if talos got to be a god becuase he united tamriel the the last dragonborn would definitly because he did save the world three times fist from alduin world eater, second from mirrak another dragonborn and finally from harkon one of the most powerful vampires

There has been Altmer emperors, a Dunmer Empress and probably others. Food for thought.
