How to get the most fun out of being a pure mage

I wonder how my pure mage managed to kill a giant, all by himself, at level seven.

Dying a lot doesn't mean a build is weak. It means you don't know how to play it.

Exactly you have to think tactically to play a mage effectively once you hit lvl 40 it gets super easy so basically if that's how you feel sounds like your lazy sir and just prefer hack and slashing your way through bandits with no thought that's just boring to me

I can only agree with you since I don't really know very much about Pokemon (I seem to remember that those are the names of two of them).

I'm serious though. You seem to be really good at playing a mage and I find myself getting so frustrated with it (I hate dieing and I'm tired of playing my mages on novice just to keep them alive) so any advice you've got (other than "get a follower", that one I know already - my issue is keeping that follower alive since they always seem to get in the way of my spells!) is really valuable. Don't let my sarcasm throw you off.

For me the real fun of being a pure mage is to play alone and use every single magic out there to deal with my enemies : shouts, illusion and destruction magic but also conjuration and destruction together makes a lot of sense because with conjuration you can have two souls fighting with you at the same time while you use your destruction magic from ( fireball ) from the distance and shouts to keep them far away or controlled, like unrelenting force and / or slow time ... it is challenge if you plan alone and there are plenty of ways to defend yourself if you ever are surrounded using becoming ethereal shout or to cover yourself with fire ... just my 2 cents ...
