What is the "Unlock Spell"? Oh, wait, you'd have to be a mage. Sheesh... it's my first time through. I haven't even figured out how to get back to the Imperial City, let alone get any magic going. Apparently the only thing I can Master is sneaking. Sheesh.

The Unlock spell basically unlocks locks. however to unlock say a very hard lock you need the unlock very hard lock spell if you have that spell you can use it to unlock any lock. and if you want to get into the Imperial City look at the map on the east side their is a bridge cross it and you will find the front gate that leads into the city. it's much much bigger then any of Skyrim's cities by far infact it feels more like a city.

I was kidding. I can find the Imperial City. I was more saying that, since it's my first playthrough, I can't find anything yet. The unlock spell is just peachy, but I've yet to even figure out how to up any stats. There are so many of them. Athletics, Acrobatics, Sneak, and on and on and on. I never play magic on the first run through. I've been playing Skyrim for a year now and I've barely scratched the surface on magic. I can handle destruction and conjuration and even a little illusion, but alteration and restoration still escape me. They just don't seem to do anything that I can't actually get from items and just eat up points. I need to be able to actually do some damage when I actually HIT somebody, not just shoot a spell at them and do a little damage and then run away and shoot a spell at them for a little more damage and then run away. Sheesh. And followers, followers, followers, please. If I kill any more followers I'm going to just have to kill myself. At least I don't feel any guilt if I kill an antronach, dremora or already dead something by accident. Frankly, I have one character who can't even have followers anymore since she's killed all the one's for hire, all or her housecarls and the occassional "friend". I guess my aims not the best. Heck, at least I don't feel guilty for killing Lyd's. She just gets on my nerves.

It's very similar to Skyrim to level up shortblade hit people with shortblade weapons, to level up athletics run around, to level up acrobatics jump around the place and survive falls, however to level up in Oblivon you need to increase at least 10 stats then you need to sleep if you wish to be a vampire in Oblivion do know that it is very different from Skyrim's for instance in oblivion you will die in the Sunlight very fast if your not careful. becoming one however can boost strength and Speed among other attributes up to 20 Points when you are at your strongest.

I suppose I'll get there eventually. At the moment I'm level 13 and Master Sneak. I don't know what to do with being a Master Sneak since, apparently I can't open any locks (no lockpicks and it's not like you can buy them :)) and I'm on all these wild goose chases for Martin. Hmm.. Maybe I'll just start over and see what happens if I use a little magic. Hmmm... male, female, nord, dunmer (no, not dunmer, they just creep me out)... Decisions... Decisions...

actually you can buy them why not go to one of the mage's guilds around Cyrodiil and talk to the people who sell spell tomes maybe they will be selling an unlock spell other then that why not Join the Theives guild the one in Oblivon is 100X better at least you dont have to pledge you alleignece to some daedra

I am on two minds on Oblivion.. My son bought it and convinced me to give it a go, after I've had Skyrim for a while.. I just hated the mini games, and picking locks was near impossible! I eventually ran out of lock picks and just roamed the country closing Oblivion gate after Obllivion Gate...

All I wanted was to get enough money to buy a house but raising money is really hard in this game. My son told me of some Arena I can go and win money, so maybe, I will try it again some time.

Yeah, Oblivion has many lockpick spells... something that Skyrim does not have... Skyrim actually is lacking in MANY awesome spells from Oblivion... if you are interested in mages, Oblivion is the way to go! Every school of magic has tons of amazing spells in Oblivion... Skyrim's spells are lackluster.

Money is hard to get, yes, but it's SO easy to get in Skyrim, which isn't always a good thing. Problem with playing Skyrim first is that you become accustomed to things being easy, where in Oblivion things are more complex and not necessarily handed to you. That's one thing I like about this game... Also, if money is a problem, you may want to learn how to do a duplication glitch. :) Even after patching the game on the Xbox 360, I can still do the glitch and make thousands of gold in no time.

cool... I'll look into it. I'm on Xbox to. :)

That gives me an idea for an interesting character build... a poor travelling sellsword with nothing but what he can carry in a satchel. Maybe he lives at Meeko's Shack or the abandoned Alchemists shack :)

As usual I went with a warrior build, and try to avoid magic as much as possible, but I have been using heal quite a bit. I'm picking the locks okay for now (easy) but I can see it getting much more difficult. So far overall it very much reminds me of Fallout 3 with trees lol

I intend to, but I'm still trying to figure out everything that's going on. I got the Grey Fox flyers so I assume something is going on. I'll get there. I'm in Skyrim at the moment working on my 68th level spell-sword on her way to get the Dragon Scroll. This weekend is back to Oblivion!

Ya see! This is why you can't go anywhere! That is the coolest thing! I had no idea. Please don't goooooooo!
yeah Oblivon's lockpicking actually required skill you couldnt just get lucky with it like you can with skyrim's lockpicking
Hey! Skyrim takes skill too! At least I think patience and the ability to buy 1,000's of lockpicks is a skill... I could be wrong though. :)
No it don't trust me I have opened master locks first try with no lockpicking skill whatsoever so it is luck, in Oblivion however you can only open it in one shot if your lockpicking skill is high enough and if you auto open it, but at least that still requires you to have skill before it will work and must I say damn your almost at 5000 posts 3 more is all you need.
