Just in time for the fiyahworks show! BOOM!
Saying the game is broken is very subjective. I have seen games extremely worse in terms of mechanics and gameplay. Are you saying the game is broken because of glitches and bugs, or because of you own opinion that you don't enjoy it? You are entitled to your opinion, but your opinion of the game (which is dislike) doesn't equate to it being broken.

I'm saying that the game has boundaries set far further than they should be. By my level you can craft absolute god mode armor with no trouble at all and even on master difficulty everything is just so much of a chore. Any game that puts in the ability to make something like that and not accommodate how OP that would make you is broken.

dude, you could craft daedric at level 24 because you spent half your play time leveling smithing. that nulls two of your points, "everything is too easy" because you have the best armor fighting against puny level 24 monsters, and "this game is boring" because you spent f---ing HOURS GRINDING SMITHING.

now let's alllllll just stop, please.

Will you quit with the "you're playing it wrong" crap.

I played my game in a way that the game had no problem with, and it made the game even crappier because of it. Refer back to my Halo analogy.

From what I remember, Bethesda nerfed the iron dagger exploit. Therefore, if I start a new game, I won't have this 'god' armor you speak of at the very beginning of the game. I have a character that's currently in the level 30 area, and I just managed to get Ebony Armor for him. Sounds about right to me.

Plus, to me, Skyrim is the kind of game that requires a bit of imagination. This is the first game where I've role played in it heavily. I put my own restraints on myself, and it's worked out pretty well. If you were to simply not craft that godly armor for yourself and not use it, or use lower grade weapons, maybe you'd get a challenge out of the game? I do recall you can also turn off markers and the HUD. Once again, making the game a bit more difficult when trying to locate where you need to go. The tools to make the game a bit different are there, it just seems you wish not to use it.

Once again, just because you can't find enjoyment out of the game, doesn't mean it's broken. Broken to me means unplayable. That the basic concept of the game can not be achieved. And well, I know may of my characters have achieved the basic concept of the game.

i didn't say you played it wrong... there isn't a wrong way to play the game. so why wouldn't you try playing it a different way and see if that makes it "even crappier", then?

and yes, it's been a month or two since the new smithing came in. if you had patch 1.5 when you got daedric at 24, you really spent hours and hours. on my last guy it took me over an hour to get from 89 to 100 and that was with jewelry and glass items.

Good! Shows that they are sane and using balance, wouldn't really call it an exploit though...

Why should I have to do that though? Why should I have to put on my own barriers to make the game work properly? Why should I hinder myself to make a damn dragon out of all things be worth fighting? Why should I be blinding myself to give some reason to look at the fairly boring scenery?

Once again, just because you can't find enjoyment out of the game, doesn't mean it's broken. Broken to me means unplayable. That the basic concept of the game can not be achieved. And well, I know may of my characters have achieved the basic concept of the game.

To me, broken, quite literally means broken. An aspect of the game wasn't fully thought out and it ruins the rest of the game because of it.

You were saying I was playing it wrong

Saying "the reason the game is bad because you did X thing that the game allows you to do" is saying exactly that.

Also, for me it didn't even take an hour if I recall correctly... hmm...

So you're openly admitting to not having an imagination? Well then, I feel sorry for you. A little bit of imagination goes a long way, and employing it to this type of game has it's advantages. I don't know what kind of RPG you are looking for, but the ones that constrain you are the ones I tend to avoid. Bethesda has always delivered to me, and while a few things here and there have irked me with their games, I've gotten nothing but enjoyment out of it.

I believe Bethesda made Skyrim the way it is, is so everyone could play it and enjoy it. If someone wishes to remove all markers and the HUD they can, if they want to leave them there, they can. Skyrim is full of options that you can or can not use at your disposal. Just because you went and made that awesome armor that made you godly, doesn't mean it's the games fault. You chose to perform that game action, no one held a gun to your head and told you HAD to make that armor. Once again, restrictions and choices.

whatever, i'll go back to being the only guy trying to get people to stop arguing about a game.
so... hey guys, let's just quit, huh? one of these threads comes up every couple weeks and everyone goes berserk and nothing goes anywhere. so how about everybody just abandons this thread.

That was possibly one of the dumbest things I have read.

For the love of god, I shouldn't have to use my own damn imagination with a video game! It is supposed to tell it's own story and immerse me, I shouldn't have to actively try to immerse myself.

It wouldn't be very fun if you went to see the Avengers and all the enemies turned out to be sock puppets. You would be sitting there, disappointed, wondering why they got so lazy with what was supposed to be so amazing. Now, imagine (you clearly are good at that) that someone started saying that "Oh just close your eyes and pretend the enemies were real! It makes it so much better!" and you of course respond with "Why should I have to? They advertised this big expensive movie with cool enemies, why should I have to pretend the movie is something it isn't to enjoy it just because the CGI department got lazy?" and then that other person would barrade you about not having an imagination and entitlement and other mindless coes of fanboys.

Oh really? They made combat boring and dumbed down so everyone can play and enjoy it? They made it for the first 10-20 hours, bears are harder to kill than dragons so everyone can play and enjoy it? They put in completely uninteresting and run-of-the-mill spells so everyone can play and enjoy it?

Well, I'm a storyteller myself. I don't often go to movies because of the way I can't use my imagination. I read books more than anything. And you're misusing my words. A sandbox game like this DOES allow you to write your characters story yourself. Just because the mainquest is about the Dragonborn, doesn't mean that's what you have to follow. I've made many characters that go down many different paths. Whether you like to admit to it or not, Skyrim does require a bit of imagination on the players part. Well, a player who has one anyway. Your character is a blank slate, and you write their own story within your mind and the game. I'm sorry you can't do that.

And once again, that's a matter of opinion. Bears have always been easier to kill than dragons, in my game at least. And I don't know what kind of spells are you looking for? Maybe you can offer up some examples as to what would strike your fancy as far as spells go. Maybe somethings from Harry Potter?

I'm still pretty pissed that ice spells don't freeze water for you to walk across or that lighting doesn't kill everything in the water. Bioshock figured that out in what? 2004?

You know, just something more creative than the basic kill/heal/summon/d!ck around spells you find in other games. Maybe one that allows mind control? Or the ability to turn people into gold coins? Something to mix up the usual spell repertoire of RPGs.

Well, if you have these ideas, why not send it to Bethesda instead of complaining about it here? Just because you think it would be easy to introduce these elements into the game, doesn't mean that it is.

I'll repeat what I said before, Skyrim is about Role Playing. It's an RPG. You play the game within your console/computer and in your mind. When you skip over the thinking, you get a half baked turd. If it's too easy, start a new character. Use a new race. Set rules for yourself. The game doesn't tell you to do this because they presume that the player understands the basic concepts of moderation. :coffee:

There is mind you control... Fury, Calm, Fear? And raise zombie also allows you to command them.

like a lot of what you're saying, but that whole Justin Beiber look isn't working, you in a little band or something, what kinda music do you and your boylfriends play, lol

We don't need any of that in here. And if you're going to insult someone, be more clever about it.

The Experimentalist
'Casualization' is least of my concern. Well, one of the least. Bethesda is getting big and to stay big, it must expand its market. Hence Skyrim is so hyped. It's good for Bethesda as they will profit from it. Of course, they must 'casualize' the game to bring in more client. They took out tedious elements like armor degradation and redesigned the character leveling (no stats, only perks). I think that was good because I didn't like Oblivion's system of 'armor degradation' (honestly, just clicking on hammers a few times, it added nothing to the game) and original stats system was a bit redundant and tedious. Those are just few good 'casualization' that I can agree with. Now, keep in mind that they could've reworked the armor degradation system instead of just taking it out and do the same for stats system. Personally, I would love to have those in the game and still feel important as an immersive element of the game but I don't mind their choice of design.

Now the casualization kinda feels shaky when they do stuff like, combining torso and leg armor. The arsenal of magic spells are... limited (no levitation, no silence, some magic spells are only available as dragon shouts like command animal) And the UI. Maybe you won't mind if you are on console but on PC, it's a huge turn-off. Of course, these can be fixed with a bit of modding and devs probably know that.

I think there should be other things to be considered. Skyrim lost some features but it also added more. Dragon shouts, dual wielding, smithing, perks, etc. I don't see why you would complain about the Skyrim world design as I think it is well done and beautiful. All parts of Skyrim are not the same. (forest of Falkreath, cliff ruined city of Markarth, snowy city on frozen river Windhelm) Dungeon designs are better in general, especially those big quest dungeons. The minor dungeons feels the same as it did in Oblivion but Skyrim is an open world game so you can't expect every dungeon to be completely unique and awesome. Anyhow, it is hard to see Skyrim as a mark of Bethesda going 'downhill'. It's an overall improvement from Oblivion and modding will only make it better.

hey, unlike this piece of crap, i'm actually curious about what sorta band you're in. if you've got a website or something i'd like to check it out, feel free to message me privately if you'd prefer.
