So I'm going to do what I call an "underwear playthrough", meaning that I'll not only do it unarmed, but without armor or clothes. I also won't use magic or potions. (I can eat food though)

Any suggestions on how I can do this? Is it even possible? How can I lower damage taken without using armor, clothes or magic? And how can I raise the damage I do unarmed?

Also, I want to do it on Legendary difficulty.

You'll definitley need a follower, maybe just use sneak and archery.

As long as your stamina is up, you can just run away when in danger.

EDIT: Didn't see that you said unarmed. In that case, play as kajit. And go for those melee sneak attacks.

probbaly not even a wolf can kill you on legendary very fast and unlss your using a khajiit or plan on becoming a werewolf or a VL (actually vampire lords were clothes) it will be very difficult

I do underwear playthroughs all the time. The only difference is that it's me who's in my underwear, not my character.

Anyway, no equipment, weapons or magic at all? It might be doable on Novice, but Legendary. If you do this, then you are a brave sir indeed.

why not just try the mad chef playthrough instead or the diseased lunatic playthrough if you need to know what they are I can explain -

Diseased Lunatic =
- Catch Rockjoint, Ataxia, brain rot, break bone fever, rattles and witbane
- Wear ragged trousers or a Ragged tunic
- Eat Raw food
- Attack people on the roads

Mad Chef =
- Get ring of Namira
- wear chefs tunic and hat
- Carry lots of Food in your inventory
- Eat people when you kill them
- Use a fitting weapon

You may also want to do the Dragonborn questline to learn as many Shouts as you possibly can. I would think Shouts may become an integral part of your barely-clothed arsenal. ;)

Underwear playthrough is doable if you have weapons (I've done it accidentally on a few occasions), but doing it unarmed and without magic or potions is going to be tough. There is no skill tree for hand-to-hand/unarmed and no way to level it up like in previous ES games. I say good on ya mate, but I hope your character can run - and fast.

Just wondering, but you said no clothing, does that include jewelry?

Also, since you need SOME defense, might I suggest picking up the Lord standing stone, it'll give you a little survivability.

and lastly, learn to love being a werewolf. You'll probably be relying on it for the more difficult encounters.

Thanks! I hadn't thought of being a werewolf. I'm not sure whether I'll use followers. I will definitely play as Khajit and try learning a ton of shouts, because that would help immensely. I guess that my strategy will be to get a sneak attack on someone, and then basically try to attack them and run away, then attack them again and run away until they're dead. Can you block while unarmed?

I won't wear jewelry.

No jewelry makes it more difficult, and no, you can't block while unarmed. Good luck man, you'll need it

I did a playthrough on master with no equipped items and no potions. Even with a follower and all magic schools it was very difficult.

I would say this is probably impossible even on adept. I'd start on adept any you'll probably adjust down from there.

Or add magic and bound bow, and don't even think about getting in melee range. It will still be really hard because you won't have any magica regen enchantments.

I'd make sure you are always with a horse and pet as well as follower. The more things you have helping you kill your enemies the better.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you cant Sneak attack unarmed. Even if you could, it would take a large amount of stealth to get close enough, so your 1st 10-20 in-game levels are going to be near impossible.

I personally don't think its possible and without being rude, I don't think it even sounds that fun sorry... My pointers for you build are-

- Learn to make vegetable soup
- I know you said JUST underwear, but I think you will need enchanted jewellery (fortify health/stamina)
- The Gloves of the Pugilist (or something like that) have an enchantment that increases unarmed combat damage. If you disenchant them and put them on ordinary cloth gloves (Radiant Raiment sells them) than it may slightly improve your chances (but not much)
- I daresay you will NEED a follower. It will take you 10 minutes and a lot of sprinting to kill a solo bandit otherwise... 2bandits and your dead I reckon.
- Why no magic? Mage armour (alteration) can make this build somewhat doable. Remember, a challenge is fun, but trying to do something impossible will make you resent playing and/or cause massive fits of rage... trust me, I have tried some challenging builds, and the trick is finding the line between a challenge and impossible :)
- Again, alteration perk tree will give perks to resist some magic. You know those guys that you find in Skyrim that hurl bolts of lightning at you with 100% accuracy? Yeah, they are called mages... they are common, and they have buddies that do the same thing...
- You wont use potions, or you wont make potions?? Its a big difference and could be the difference between you having fun and you going to a mental institution :p

Good Luck mate! Tell us how it goes. If your adamant about your strict guidelines, all I ask is that after it is not working for you (which unfortunately I'm 99% it wont) than don't be scared to try some of our suggestions (like alteration!)

EDIT: Oh your going to use the Thu'um? So there are going to be dragons... omg, don't even get me started on the difficulties there :p

If you survive Helgen without dieing once, then I'll be impressed. You'll quickly learn that you can't fight guards directly.
The best chance you have is to be a Breton and conjure up a familiar. They seen much stronger on higher settings.

Forget everything you know and be afraid, very afraid.
