Battlemage creation help

Hi ive been trying to make a battlemage for a long time now and failed. what do i need to do to specify as a battlemage besides heavy armor? i mean should i lean more towards magic and melee when i have to or am out of mana? also i was thinking of making him Alteration/resto/destro alteration for extra armor and magic resistence. Gonna be a imperial for resto buffs heavy armor and 1h and i specialize in 1h also, should i use a shield? all help is appreciated

Gender: Male
Statistic Focus: Magicka 60% / Health 40%
Primary Skills: Destruction, Restoration
Secondary Skills: Illusion, Heavy Armor
Stone Ability: Apprentice Stone
Essential Perks:
Spellcasting Rank Perks
Illusion Dual Casting
Destruction Dual Casting
Augmented Flames, Frost, or Shock
Recovery
Juggernaut
Weapons: Spells, supplemented by staffs or a one-handed weapon as needed.
Armor: Heavy Armor, ideally enchanted to increase your Magicka or Magicka Regen.

Check out the Battle Mage Guide on Youtube by TrendKill, but I suggest a Breton, that Magic Resistance saved my ass more than once!

Scroll down to battle mage in (archtypes) and it will pritty much tell you everything you need to know on how to create a battle mage and how to use one.Mind you dont have to follow it to the letter but it gives you a general idea of how to play/what skills to get and what races would be the best to use for said archtype.

Battle Mages are heavy armored mages .
Your current build seems a bit too thinly spread . Only focusing on one school besides Destruction would be ideal .
If you choose to use melee , go for a Spellsword .

But then again , Skyrim is a game of choice .
It's up to you .
