******THIS POST MAY INCLUDE SPOILERS*****
****** EVERYTHING ABOUT THE DARK BROTHERHOOD CAN BE SAID HERE****

Encounter:

I was on my way to Skyhaven Temple and a Dark Elf ASSASIN (WEARING THE DB clothes) attempted to kill me on a LONELY road, not too far for the Forsworn camp.

My Opinion on TDB:

If they are paying me alot to assasinate. I better not kill out their species because Astrid sent em after me. ><
Then again if Astrid want to Troll. Im been there, done that. I'll pick em off ONE BY ONE.

Suspicions:

SVEN.... HE ONLY PROBABLY HATES ME BECAUSE I HELPED THE ELF WIN CAMILA. >.>

Want to know "THE BIG QUEST"?

***EPIC MASSIVE SPOILER***

Kill the Emperor...

FOR 20,000 GOLD! >:3

Feel free to post anything related to the dark brotherhood here. Questlines, opinions and other things. I dont really mind. I have completed all the DB quests BEFORE on another Character ( of course the reoccuring one. )

For those who wish to not get a bounty for killing Vittoria Vici, there is a way! You will need to wear the Shrouded Boots and have one or more Invisibility potions for this to work. If you ask Babette if she has any advice on your current contract, she will mention a gargoyle statue that stands over the balcony that Vittoria will go to for addressing her guests. Make sure you arrive in Solitude during night time.

The statue can be pushed in order to kill Vittoria Vici. Here are two videos on how to find it:

For the above video, you can stop at 0:30. You will go through that arch and follow the video below from 0:17 to 0:35.

Once you are there, you will have to wait for her to go through a door to get to the balcony. You can push the gargoyle once she's up there, but I would wait until she is saying the following lines you can see when you pause it at 0:35, that is if you want the bonus reward. Make sure you are in sneak mode. Then push the gargoyle statue and drink an Invisibility potion right before she dies. Once all that has happened, follow the video from 0:35 to 1:00.

Ta-da! You have now officially killed the Emperor's cousin without getting the bounty.

Please forgive Spelling its Late and I am Sleepy
I had a (Cat race)Kijit DB assasin try to kill me with Both my Caractors, then when I joined the Dark Brotherhood NO nothening, no mention, no you where a target once. I shruged if off as a bug but if PauletteDova also have a similer event happen its interesting, must be a plot hole that was not filled

I found that VERY odd as well. After all like other people like the Jarl of Whiterun, when you first report to him and you tell him " I had a nice view of the dragon while the imperials were trying to cut off my head" (or something similar), I found it very odd he didn't say anything like " I dont trust you" or " If you weren't a wanted person I would have let you be a Thane."

It seems that people in Skyrim doesnt really care about the criminal past so far. Well. Astrid probably doesnt even CARE if you were wanted, the fact that you beat the crap out of the other DB Associates she would not mind. After all TDB only kills in the name of Sithis, through the Chant, they wouldnt care if it was someone important to them for they would be disobeying Sithis.

well two things, first the DB assassin is a random encounter it even happens sometimes after you are in the DB, secondly you could be arrested by the Imperials for supporting the storm cloaks, which the Jarl in Whiterun has not taken a side in the war. So unless you commited a crime against him it doesn't matter. Remember the districts all track their crimes seperately as it says in the game, so thus the imperial crime would not be a whiterun, winterhold, rift....insert other district name here......crime

hi, I've recently started a new character who is an assassin/thief. he's literally only on level 3. he's a khajiit, he uses daggers, a bow and illusion magic as well as the obvious (lock picking, speech, pickpocketing)

this is just a plan for my character, i was going to make him a vampire as well but i would like your opinion on what perks i should use and what i should invest in

Even though you dont really want my opinion on this, but.

Rethink about being a Vampire:

Yes, it does have advantages as in being invisible, but being attacked on sight and burning in the sunlight isnt that good. Since you are a level 3, I would recommend being a vampire when you cleared the Main Questline and discovered most of skyrim. (Speaking for myself, I REALLY dont have the patience to "wait" till morning because im a Vampire.)

Again, you probably dont want my opinion on this:

Skills :

You should probably want to level up these skills if you dont have such a high skill.

Archery: You would be like hell on wheels when this gets up in the 40's and 50's (This goes with sneak)

Enchanting: This is mostly important for an assassin/thief character, if you didnt discover weapons with enchantments as yet, these are an "upgrade for weapons" and you destroy a weapon with enchanting to learn the enchantment then use soul gems to power the weapons up. (dont worry soul gems are easy to come across, just need to find/buy soul trap (Spell Tome) from Farengar (Court wizard in Whiterun) or from in the College in Winterhold and have enough magika, and you cast it and those empty soul gems would be filled. (After I finish off the Skills here, I would say a bit more about it)

*SMITHING: This is VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT. When you get the perks as I will say later, you can upgrade or sharpen your weapons and when you do, they have a higher sale price and they do more damage. Also when you get the perk Arcane Blacksmith (Requires Level 60 Smithing and Steel Smithing) you can upgrade enchanted items. Then, it would be more than hell on wheels.

Light armour: This isnt (in my opinion) very necessary. But, the perks in the tree can increase the armour rating and bonuses, if you have alot of skill points now, and a high level in light armour just get a few perks that sound useful to you.

OBVIOUSLY:

You need Sneak very high, combined with the archery at a fairly HIGH level, you can one shot enemies literally by standing infront of them.

Lockpicking: Work this level up as much as possible, but im not saying WASTE your picks. Once you have alot of gold (speaking around 10,000 or 6,000 -> 9,000 gold) you can be trained by people in the Theives Guild.

** Also, here comes the Enchanting skill. Once you find a piece of apparel (necklace, boots etc.) with a % easier to pickpocket, if you dont need it RIGHT away and you have a black soul gem at hand or THE BLACK STAR, you can dischant this to learn the enchantment and put it on as much apparel as you can. I would state my way of doing it.

SPEECH: Barely needed, but work this up to a fair level in case you get caught stealing or killing, you can persuade the guards to lower your bounty if your in with the theives guild.

Alchemy: Alchemy boosts up Lockpicking and other skills as well for a shot time when you have the right ingredients.

Spells:

ALTERNATION: The only good I see so far is Paralysis, if your an assassin and the enemy is a difficult person to kill, paralysis would freeze them to hit in a few strikes to them to get them nearly dead.

Conjuration: For trapping souls for alchemy.

One Handed: Assassins dont use Two-Handed for as all I know. Even if you are dual wielding, its still one handed. WORK THIS UP :)

I think I covered most things. I would try out most of the perks myself and judge them. But, I suggest getting the first and second perk for each of the skills I mentioned and almost the whole tree for Archery.

**** THE BLACK STAR:
Its an artifact from a daedric quest that can hold Black souls, its as great as the Greater soul gems and the black soul gem is very hard to find (for me, I only encountered one).

To get it:
Go to the shrine of azura, which is not too far off of Winterhold, you should see it on your map.

Speak to the priestess and accept the quest.

Speak the the woman that guards the college of winterhold (you DONT have to go inside) and she will let you know where the man you need to find is.

Go get the azura's star after you talk to the guy in the inn in Winterhold

Return to the INN IN WINTERHOLD AND TALK TO THE SAME GUY.
**** DO NOT ... DO NOT GO BACK TO THE PRIESTESS. FOR YOU WILL GET AZURA'S STAR THAT ONLY CAPTURES CREATURE SOULS AND GETTING A GREATER SOUL FROM CREATURES IS A WILD GOOSE CHASE

- After all. If you want it easy get the man in the inn repair it. If you want to be a "I can be a boss" character you go to Azura to get the Azura's Star

Archery:

Help Faendal with Camilla and he would become your follower, Faendal is the Dark elf or Wood Elf, im not sure which one, but he is the only one in the village (EXCLUDING THE GUARDS) that carries arrows on his back. When you get Faendal to follow you, ask him to train you in archery and pay in your gold as much as you can, then ask to trade things with him and get back the gold, this can be repeated as many times.

Fairly high in the mountains near Falkreath is a camp with FREE archery training called Angi's Camp, Angi has targets set up and when you ask her for practice when you hit the targets your archery goes up. After the training, you get her hunting bow which is renamed as Angi's Bow, its nothing special at all.

And here are directions to her camp. Its fairly easy to find once you follow the directions and you look at the ground to see the pathway going up the mountains.

Directions here: Skyrim: How to Find Master Archer Angi's Camp « GamerZines

If this helped, give reputation?

You seem a decent fellow. I hate to die.
Has to be my favorite faction thread of the game, hence why I'm here. Just started my second go 'round and hard as I try to do exactly the opposite of my first play through, I can't/won't bring myself to defeat the DB. Was just so much fun the first time. Joined the Stormcloaks previously, second time I'll be signing up for the Imperials, just to see how that story plays out. But the DB? Nah, don't think so.

My only disappointment was with Astrid. btw, she has the sexiest voice in the entire game, bar none, end of discussion, not up for debate, fini. <3:D

But really? You're gonna betray the entire DB? You're the one who speaks of "family" all the time with greetings of "brother" and "sister." I realize her death opened the door for my character's ascension in leading the DB, but I woulda turned that down if given the opportunity. Not to mention, Gabriella and Festus Krex have also been offed. Gabriella for supplying me with that righteous bow to take out Vici, and Krex because of the curmudgeon that he is. Correction: Funny curmudgeon that he is. Glad they kept Nazir alive as he reeks coolness.

Reckon I'm just pissed that after Astrid died, there went the sexiest voice in the entire game, bar none, end of discussion, not up for debate, fini. :D<3

I hated doing the DB quest im done wit it now, i hate taking orders from the night mother, and it seems Nazir and Babbette arent doing anything and the new recruit alls she does is cook. The coolest thing about DB is the horse Shadowmere, a black horse with red eyes. They also need to change the scripts in both DB and companions for when you become the leader .

It was the best voice. I agree.
What you said about Astrid betraying, I saw it coming, not like CICERO killing everyone though. She was not to be the kind of Leader she thinks she is. And she shouldn't of betrayed the dragonborn/player even if it cost her life or the last remaining dark brotherhood.

THERE WAS STILL Cicero AND the Nightmother, also the player as well.
Also found out as "TEH LISTENER"

Astrid..
Assassin Women these days.. Peh..

You saw her betrayal coming? I was trying to logically guess who it might be, but I never thought it'd be her. Or more likely, I was just in denial, not wanting to face what was certain to come. I was actually hoping it'd be her husband. See, so once he's outta the picture, my dude can bust some Khajiit moves on her and we'd rule the DB side-by-side. But noooooo. With that avatar of yours, Paulette, YOU should be the new leader of the DB. :)

And just so I'm not one-sided, best male voice in the game? (notice I wrote "best" and not "sexiest" cuz, well, y'know). Gotta be Paarthunax (sp?). I mean, c'mon. A combo of Sean Connery and Darth Vader?! And he's got that, y'know, dragon thing going for him, too. Man, some dudes have all the luck. :D

The DB was more engaging in Oblivion. In my opinion anyway. It had some of the funnest quests in it. But I did like the beginning of the DB, with Astrid atop the thingy and jumping down. There are so few cutscenes with decent animation in the game. But that was one of them.

The Hungry Orc

Master of the Pyre
When I first joined the Dark Brotherhood, I got up to the Cicero quest, killed him so I could get his clothes, and just killed everything and laughed after. This was on one playthrough.

On the other, the Dark Brotherhood was probably more deep than Oblivion's. It was pretty interesting and not as generic, like instead of the usual join-betray-become leader seen in Oblivion, it's join-suspicious guy-suspicious guy breaks out and almost kills friend-big massacre-kill Emperor.
This is why I love the Dark Brotherhood. Regardless of any game it is, I just love the assassin and the many ways you can portray him in the roleplaying aspect.

I tried my very best (Without mods.. Cause I have the PS3 ver) to make my character look like that avatar :D
I noticed it. She didnt want to follow the night mother as she was too self confident about her being the "leader". Cicero seemed very suspicious, i'll give you that, but he was alright. A little loony, but its good enough for being the keeper. After the nightmother spoke to me, I realized if anything goes wrong here, it would be that guy who gave me the "Assassination job" OR astrid. Because everyone was obeying her like dogs. And Babette couldnt do such a thing. She's a kid, and what kind of Imperial would take a child (PARTLY *COUGH*) words of "Kill player, you spare brotherhood" and he wouldnt go ask some other random member, it would HAVE to come from the leader. Because, if it wasnt Astrid, that poor sorry little soul would be already dead and pushed into the cistern (With Delvin's help of getting in anyways).

SGT_Sky

Silence, My Brother
Kind of an oddity here, I had DB assassins come after me AFTER I had already completed the entire questline (I did not destroy them) and the note said that Astrid sent them (but we all know she is deceased by this point)

Hmmm.
You know whats cool?
If you summon the Spectral Assassin (As I forgot how to get it and I restarted my character YET AGAIN) when you enter the Dawnstar Sanctuary, to kill Cicero, he would give you a speech about how Cicero shouldnt be killed and the night mother wont be happy about him dying and he is the actual keeper.

You can still get his clothes on the table at the front of the sanctuary after you move in there or before. Whatever.

I didnt kill him. I felt sorry for the night mother not getting oil'ed and get those hard to reach places. Thats not the listener's job. so I kept it for cicero.

PLUS he makes EPIC comments in certain holds and places.

One of those random ones is in Whiterun he says "Maybe Cicero should go dance for the companions! (Thinks about it) Hmm. Maybe not.."

We all know.
There is some random psycho out there, who went into the Falkreath sanctuary, stole their clothes and Fast Traveled to your location to pwn you. Heheheh.
Thats strange. Maybe Astrid still working TDB from inside the void.. Oh, Oh, you pitiful soul, ASTRID!
